I wish I were going somewhere. Instead, I have indigestion.

Tonight I am doing laundry and skipping my work holiday party which is really a workers' comp laywers holiday party because dude, no.
Tomorrow we are probs cleaning our house because I fired the people that we have been paying to clean it because they keep neglecting to show up and clean. Or call. Or return my phone calls. Then maybe karaoke?
Sunday I am going to make Delaware-style chicken and dumplings in my new dutch oven.

For lunch today I ate lentil soup that I made last night in my new dutch oven.

whoops lawyers not laywers. You would be surprised (maybe?) at how often I make that typo, which is pretty much every time I type that word.

atty at LOL (Jenny), Friday, 5 December 2008 20:42 (seventeen years ago)

Francie gets that look on her face A LOT, but she has normal ears instead of those little flap ears.

atty at LOL (Jenny), Friday, 5 December 2008 20:49 (seventeen years ago)

cmon guys, you KNOW you wanna karaoke.
what's up with that cat's weird orange eyes? do cats have ORANGE EYES?!?!

La Lechera, Friday, 5 December 2008 21:29 (seventeen years ago)

Francie's are YELLOW. Maybe that cat's eyes are more yellow but the picture makes them look orange. Or maybe they are orange.

I wanna karaoke. Do I wanna go out in the cold, cold cold? I do not know yet.

atty at LOL (Jenny), Friday, 5 December 2008 21:37 (seventeen years ago)

yellow i've seen. when i was in high school this dude in band used to make fun of me b/c my eyes are sort of yellow. but orange? that's weird. that cat's got sherbet eyes. rong.

La Lechera, Friday, 5 December 2008 21:46 (seventeen years ago)

I might buy a YELLOW kitchen table 2morrow.

jaymc, Friday, 5 December 2008 21:47 (seventeen years ago)

someone should tell that cat to take his freaky contacts out and be a real cat

La Lechera, Friday, 5 December 2008 21:52 (seventeen years ago)

And prop its ears up while its at it.

atty at LOL (Jenny), Friday, 5 December 2008 22:11 (seventeen years ago)

I am one of two people doing laundry on this cold ass night, but the laundromat TV is playing How Jim Carey Ruined Christmas and that's kind of ducking up my pleasant laundromat evening. Just one more reason to hate Jim Carey.

atty at LOL (Jenny), Saturday, 6 December 2008 01:16 (seventeen years ago)

LOL fucking not ducking. Stupid iPhone. I can't belive I havent typed "fucking" enough for it to stop auto correcting it.

atty at LOL (Jenny), Saturday, 6 December 2008 01:19 (seventeen years ago)

stella was great. kumail opened, which i did know would happen. good for him. he has a lot of material about '80s pop culture now.

guys, i know this is stating the obvious it is fucking frigid out there. it wasn't so bad when i walked to meet sarah at the belmont stop because i was walking, but we had to stand in line outside the vic for like half an hour before they opened the doors and that ... sucked.

n/a is just more of a character....in a genre polluted by clones (n/a), Saturday, 6 December 2008 04:22 (seventeen years ago)

But how do you feel today?

atty at LOL (Jenny), Saturday, 6 December 2008 16:34 (seventeen years ago)

In preparation for the final half season, we're watching Battlestar Galactica over from the beginning. It's hard because I like these characters and I know what terrible things will befall them.

atty at LOL (Jenny), Saturday, 6 December 2008 16:36 (seventeen years ago)

omg i just watched the pilot of Battlestar Galactica last night! i'm totally hooked...must go rent dvds!

horseshoe, Saturday, 6 December 2008 17:49 (seventeen years ago)

when do the new shows start up again? i need to get the doohickey that lets me hook up our laptop to our new tv so we can watch the new episodes via hulu. or we just need to fucking pay for cable.

n/a is just more of a character....in a genre polluted by clones (n/a), Saturday, 6 December 2008 19:15 (seventeen years ago)

horseshoe: Yes, yes you totally do.

Nick: January 16, 2009. I HATE paying for cable. It's one of those random things that disproportionately piss me off because it is SO FUCKING EXPENSIVE. I'm all overly attached to the DVR thing, though, but I think that TV on the Internet will improve in the next year to the point that cable becomes totally unnecessary. Of course then Comcast will charge twice as much for internet alone as they charge for internet and cable (we got cable in the first place because it was cheaper to have internet and basic cable than it was to have just the internet). Fuckers.

atty at LOL (Jenny), Saturday, 6 December 2008 19:31 (seventeen years ago)

But how do you feel today?

At 9:30 this morning my exgf from high school called me saying she had a 13 hour layover at O'Hare, and she wanted to come into town, get lunch, and hang out. Oh and she has a 2 year old.

At that point I did NOT feel very good.

I do not feel well. I partied in the Quadrilateral Cities like it was my job. Drinks were drunk, secrets were told, broccoli was overcooked. I made it to my floor of the hotel but decided to sit down in the hall to sleep. The the Chicago lawyers made me go to bed.

Promises made to me last night:
- iPhones for everyone at the firm (don't really believe this promise)
- A trip to Key Largo in March!! On one of the QC partners' little prop plane! And SCUBA diving w/ L|bby. I made sure to ask whether it was the booze talking and they assured me it was not.

Jesse, Saturday, 6 December 2008 23:40 (seventeen years ago)

As long as you didn't make it on the floor, you'll be fine.

Eazy, Saturday, 6 December 2008 23:43 (seventeen years ago)

I'm doing Ras Dashen, and barring fatigue I'll be at karaoke afterwards.

Eazy, Saturday, 6 December 2008 23:44 (seventeen years ago)

i just said i would go on daet tomorrow before realizing i have v. little money -- whats a good way of pretending youre financially stable? i think maybe doing a good cleaning of the apartment tomorrow might make me look way organized

deej, Saturday, 6 December 2008 23:50 (seventeen years ago)

im feeling very george costanza-ish rite now

deej, Saturday, 6 December 2008 23:51 (seventeen years ago)

Eazy, Saturday, 6 December 2008 23:54 (seventeen years ago)

I can hook you up with free tickets to a play.

Eazy, Saturday, 6 December 2008 23:58 (seventeen years ago)

deej, Saturday, 6 December 2008 23:59 (seventeen years ago)

I'll send you the info.

Eazy, Sunday, 7 December 2008 00:00 (seventeen years ago)

oh em gee we are finally done cleaning our stupid apartment. That was ridonk. Although it really really really needed it. Also, I no longer feel bad about firing the people who had been cleaning for us. What the shit were they doing twice a week??? (And yes, I noticed before now but I was in denial because I didn't want to deal with it on any level.)

atty at LOL (Jenny), Sunday, 7 December 2008 00:13 (seventeen years ago)

Also nice work, Eric! free tickets to a play for your daet is like the answer to everything, deej.

atty at LOL (Jenny), Sunday, 7 December 2008 00:15 (seventeen years ago)

I am really glad that you are the testing grounds for cleaning ladies. I need one, but not like the ones you've had.

Jesse, Sunday, 7 December 2008 00:17 (seventeen years ago)

My mom had a cleaning lady for a while, and she said she decided to fire her once she realized that the lady had figured out the amount of cleaning that mom would be ok with and never did any more than that.

Your original display name will be displayed in brackets. (dan m), Sunday, 7 December 2008 00:19 (seventeen years ago)

i don't think i could handle having a cleaning person, you know, class guilt-wise

some know what you dude last summer (Jordan), Sunday, 7 December 2008 00:33 (seventeen years ago)

thats kinda silly -- better that ppl be employed than be unemployed right?

deej, Sunday, 7 December 2008 00:33 (seventeen years ago)

hi guys. i made a really silly song out of wilson pickett and rebirth brass band samples - you can stream it here if you feel like it. it sounds like fatboy slim

n/a is just more of a character....in a genre polluted by clones (n/a), Sunday, 7 December 2008 01:04 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah, I don't have class guilt because I've been a cleaning lady and my grandmother was a cleaning lady and my aunt-in-law is a cleaning lady, so I don't really look at it as grunt work, just as a job I need done that I hire somebody to do. Also cleaning houses is a really sweet way to be self employed with very little initial investment, so I'm happy to help people out with that (so I only hire independent business woman, not like Merry Maids or some bullshit) while buying back some free time for myself.

atty at LOL (Jenny), Sunday, 7 December 2008 03:44 (seventeen years ago)

Same here. I used to be a cleaning lady and so did Jenny's relatives.

Jesse, Sunday, 7 December 2008 07:05 (seventeen years ago)

Sorry I missed karaoke folks. I didn't bounce back entirely from last night.

Jesse, Sunday, 7 December 2008 07:06 (seventeen years ago)

Hey, here is a thread in which the owner of the Violet Hour posts a bunch of recipes for their cocktails and in so doing, comes across as being a really solidly cool individual:

"You can take any of these specs and 'batch' them for a pitcher by changing ounces into cups."

This guy is brilliant.

atty at LOL (Jenny), Sunday, 7 December 2008 17:49 (seventeen years ago)

songs i karaoked last night:

"you might think" the cars
"cold as ice" foreigner
"high on you" survivor

i also learned that in "high on you" it's not "battle teacher", it's "that'll teach ya"
whoopsie

La Lechera, Sunday, 7 December 2008 22:08 (seventeen years ago)

"three word songs" by me

La Lechera, Sunday, 7 December 2008 22:09 (seventeen years ago)

That was probably the most entertaining of the karaoke outings I've attended.

Your original display name will be displayed in brackets. (dan m), Sunday, 7 December 2008 22:48 (seventeen years ago)

Amanda, you need a BATTLE TEACHER tattoo.
