Haven't seen this week's yet but I just need to say that I really dislike Tamblyn.

And I agree with Eisbaer, the ep where the boy gave his sister part of his lung was very touching and the best of the early episodes

I thought this week's episode was terrible.

I don't know, I'm kind of tempted to say that if you found this week's episode "terrible" then I'm not sure if watching House, M.D. is the right choice for you. Although it was a little more pushed to the edges than a typical episode, I think it pretty much contained every single piece of what this show is all about - medical mystery, House being a dick, outraged team, dripping sarcasm, oddly touching romantic lives of the team, etc etc

The magic marker whiteboard DDX routine didn't get much play that episode, as opposed to the previous episode where they used Taub's face.
Also the 'epiphany' moment lacked a certain majesty.

True. I guess I don't think this was like the "ultimate" episode or anything, but a fairly standard structure to it. It didn't feel as gimmicky as I thought it was going to be based on previews.

I wish HOUSE took spec scripts, then I could pitch an episode where House goes head-to-head against a diagnostic computer program like WATSON on jeopardy.
House's honor is at stake, but in order for House to stay true to his principles, he'd have to defer to the computer's diagnoses because on every rational level, the computer should have the edge on House. Meanwhile, WATSON makes a move on Cutty...

^this seems like a credible storyline for next season.

lol wat? i've been watching since the first season. if you meant to say that if i found this week's episode terrible than you're not sure if I should still be watching -- then i'd agree with you. but any kind of original charm of appeal this show had has been totally sucked out by this point. tho i didn't find this ep as horrific as the original hooking up episode (kissing swollen leg ew), i thought it completely failed to generate any drama or stakes at all. i was expecting a real "DID HOUSE GO TOO FAR?" ep, but maybe they just can't make those anymore. it reminded me of a dozen other House episodes I've seen except in this one Cuddy was enabling House instead of fighting with him. that's not enough dynamics change to do anything for me. afaic, this show's peak was the two-part foreman dying episode and it's never quite matched those stakes since (and i really had hoped the small pox ep this season might match it, but no dice). the biggest problem imo actually is that House himself seems less and less interested in the case week by week. it feels so totally incidental. whoever compared this season to grey's anatomy is otm, except grey's anatomy was always fun and silly when it did all that relationship bullshit. this is just dreary.

See, I think we have a fundamental disagreement on what is good about the show, or at least when it gets invested in any kind of "stakes". I thought that Foreman dying arc was sort of silly and couldn't really get into it.

i would like to think the writers/directors/producers have made some deliberate decisions about how to try to navigate things since house got back from rehab and is 'trying to be mature', since the show as a whole seems more dreary / 'realistic' (even in the score and the lighting and camerawork) and along with house's drugs they've taken away an awful lot of his extra-case hijinx and b-plot comedy and all the activities that go along with being in pain (he's never in pain any more either!) and being an addict like sitting around, watching tv, playing records, and such. but that all makes it seem kind of directionless aside from the occasional highlight. maybe the sub-season arcs since rehab just haven't been played that well either—house moving in with wilson, wilson's ex-wife, house's courtship of cuddy, the shit with the team. and the team is boring as anything now.

i wonder what the right sort of arc/ending for house would be if you compared it to the ending to 'the shield'. what the fuck are you supposed to do with 'misanthrope gradually becomes less toxic to friends and co-workers'?

I just hope that when it ends, it does something interesting for network TV and it isn't like a final episode wedding between him and Cuddy with everyone in attendance and smiling.

yeah if I never see another subplot involving Taub and his soon-to-be ex-wife, I would be thrilled, but of course I imagine they have to tie that up with the two of them finally re-discovering each other (or maybe not...)

I really liked the episodes that dealt with House losing his mind because you could tell it was the one thing that really scared him more than anything. I don't really mind House now but you have to wonder where it's all going. The problem is that he's not as unhinged or psycho as he used to be so it's hard for the show to be "shocking" without stretching. And they never explained why Kutner killed himself, either (other than "the actor quit").

Oh, I'm 100% talking about looking at her. But I think her character got better as she went along, until right before she "left".

I do miss Kutner; he was the only person who thought House was actually funny and not just a giant dick. House couldn't really "get" to him because he didn't have an ego. I mean House says some really funny things and nobody ever laughs anymore. Foreman and Chase have been working with him for 7 years...you'd think they would have lightened up by now.

Yeah, Kutner was great. I really want them to bring back that gorgeous girl that was messing w/ Chase via his Facebook page.

The storyline was pretty awful, but it brought some lols. I could care less about the storyline, I just thought that girl was v v v pretty and I'd rather look at her than Amber Tamblyn. And yeah, I initially thought it was going to be Cameron as well.

Ehh having a doctor that wasn't drop dead gorgeous and unlikely to appear in any "romantic" subplots was a nice change of pace

I don't know, its just hard going from Cameron (who I think was very underrated re her prettiness) to 13 set me up to always appreciate having eye candy on this show. Cuddy doesn't really do it for me. There's plenty of male eye candy though.

I was referring to Masters, I mean she is cute but definitely not hot the way Cameron and 13 were and since she's young and kind of a nerd I can't see them writing anything romantic for her.

I do miss Cameron for the same reason you do, she definitely was a 10/10 for me, but so is Cuddy, her body is ridiculous

either taub or wilson could end up with narcky howser as they are now both unattached.

I've wondered that myself. Given his little speech during the most recent episode, I think he is just really good at selling himself, "I fixed cleft palletes in Africa, I volunteer all the time".

all the best drama in that episode involved either Taub or Cutty/Cutty's Mom. maybe you were too focused on house. the bathroom scene with Taub was hella dramatic

u guys are crazy if you think Taub's story lines generated anything at all. I can't even remember what was going on with him - just that his ex's brother punched him for something or other and his wife was like, "i won't let him do that anymore." snooze hallmark film of the week.

well it's back on sky tonight so i have all this disappointment to look forward to
