Yeah, that was 80 mins well spent. Would say McCarthy's 2nd pick of the bunch, just ahead of Gyan taking Huth to Cash Converters and Tiote's wallop.

William Bloody Swygart, Saturday, 5 February 2011 23:54 (fifteen years ago)

Szezezcnzy getting booked is fucking ridiculous, he was trying to return the ball to his own team mates so his team could take their kick off, it's Arsenal's possession so Nolan and co have no particular claim on the ball if they don't happen to get to it first, nevermind getting into headlock takedowns.

Redknapp and Shearer can also fuck off about the Spurs penalty, when two of your players are two yards into the penalty area and massively advantaged over the defenders of course it's gonna be retaken you mongs.

Pretty sure Stoke's goals ticked off all the boxes on some infernal Stoke Bingo Card, somewhere.

Bad Fucking Dowie (Sgt. Biscuits), Sunday, 6 February 2011 00:12 (fifteen years ago)

Gotta go for Tiote's volley, mostly because the sheer likelihood of those kind of attempts ending up hilariously high and wide makes the occasions where they come off like, the best shit in football.

West Bromwich Albion have today relieved Head Coach Roberto Di Matteo of his duties and placed him on gardening leave with immediate effect.

This was the unanimous decision of the Football Club's Board of Directors in light of a worrying sequence of results which has seen the Club lose 13 of their last 18 games in all competitions, winning only three.

First-Team Coach Michael Appleton will assume control of first-team affairs whilst the Club considers all available options for a new Head Coach.

Chairman Jeremy Peace said: "This has been a tough decision but we, as a Board, believe it is the right one to give the Club the best possible chance of remaining in the Barclays Premier League.

James Mitchell, Sunday, 6 February 2011 12:32 (fifteen years ago)

OH FFS

Sniff of a shout of staying up has gone to their heads. Great news for the rest of us. BOING

Y Kant Torres Red (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 6 February 2011 12:33 (fifteen years ago)

no matter how many times I see it I am still baffled at the way 'gardening leave' has passed into common usage

look its not that you listen to metal its that youre a bellend ok (DJ Mencap), Sunday, 6 February 2011 12:34 (fifteen years ago)

Must be a bastard if you live in a flat.

Y Kant Torres Red (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 6 February 2011 12:34 (fifteen years ago)

Best result for us today would be a localised Ebola outbreak in the Upton Park area.

Y Kant Torres Red (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 6 February 2011 12:43 (fifteen years ago)

"xbox 360 leave"

New League Managers Association / Yahoo! venture gets off to a good start : http://yhoo.it/g4Lbzb

James Mitchell, Sunday, 6 February 2011 12:44 (fifteen years ago)

Rotten decision because the die is cast for them. This isn't going to make them suddenly discover a spine. If they stay up di Matteo would've had a great learning experience, if they go down he'd've brought them back up comfortably. A new guy might not.

He wasn't even one of the 'four under pressure' ffs.

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 6 February 2011 14:04 (fifteen years ago)

Love this from Gab Marcotti's Twitter timeline:

Will never forget doing ITA football on Eurosport w/Di Matteo. In between games, he'd sit with finance textbooks + study

The referee was perfect (Chris), Sunday, 6 February 2011 14:18 (fifteen years ago)

Finally watching last night's MOTD. Everton v Blackpool makes you feel good to be alive. And Newcastle's fourth was a hell of a goal, given the context.

Death and Taxis (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Sunday, 6 February 2011 14:47 (fifteen years ago)

Matt DC, Sunday, 6 February 2011 16:07 (fifteen years ago)

3-3 w/ torres hatrick only to be countered by three punts-by-reina-scored-by-suarez in the last five minutes. also carroll to run on and nut torres as he celebrates his third

Greatest Premier League weekend ever and then these losers have to ruin it.

Y Kant Torres Red (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 6 February 2011 16:49 (fifteen years ago)

Maybe Liverpool are contractually obliged not to draw attention from the Super Bowl or something.

Y Kant Torres Red (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 6 February 2011 16:50 (fifteen years ago)

I'm perfectly happy to cheer on Citeh and Spurs for the rest of the season if it means Chelsea finish fifth #suddenrevelation

Pissed-up Scousers on 606 already. We can revive "won't win the Premiership" for next year's thread.

Y Kant Torres Red (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 6 February 2011 18:10 (fifteen years ago)

that was excruciating and marvellous at the same time, not a good game, such a sweet result.
