I think this is just some guy's website though, so have no idea of its accuracy.
Well, sports press have turned to that website for up-to-date info on this, he is seen as some sort of authority, as he's been doing this religiously for years and years.

so not accurate at all then, glad we got that sorted.
What was Warnocky(?) like, Chris? And what grade was your award?
Well, he was only presenting the Gold awards, and I was a Bronze, so I didn't get to meet him on stage. But I went over to him afterwards and shook his hand and he was great, really nice guy. He signed my certificate!
― The referee was perfect (Chris), Monday, 31 January 2011 12:47 (fifteen years ago)
Was Paul Konchesky presenting the bronzes?
― Ismael Klata, Monday, 31 January 2011 12:48 (fifteen years ago)
Hm, yes xp, I was maybe a bit unfair there - have used him myself for various stats in the past. I was really just trying to avoid liability in case Mr Levy does decide to put all his eggs in the CL basket.
― Ismael Klata, Monday, 31 January 2011 12:49 (fifteen years ago)
I can't remember why now, but I was meaning to start a sightings thread for footballers out-of-habitat a while back and forgot. It seemed really important at the time. I may use the Warnock one to kick it off if you don't mind, he sounds quite charming.
― Ismael Klata, Monday, 31 January 2011 12:52 (fifteen years ago)
In other news, former England international Gareth Southgate has been confirmed as the FA's new Head of Elite Development. He will start right away.
good signing imo.

― sammy bagels (a hoy hoy), Monday, 31 January 2011 15:08 (fifteen years ago)
I mean you that is the sort of figure going around for Aguero. Pazzini went for about a third of that (+ Biabany)!
― sammy bagels (a hoy hoy), Monday, 31 January 2011 15:10 (fifteen years ago)
Blackpool have signed Andy Reid, who should at least appreciate the diet in that part of the world. Potentially a great signing, even if they sell Charlie Adam.
― Matt DC, Monday, 31 January 2011 15:12 (fifteen years ago)
Has Suarez *definitely* signed for Liverpool, btw? The reports last week were more "have agreed a fee" than "has signed on the dotted line".
― Death and Taxis (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Monday, 31 January 2011 15:12 (fifteen years ago)
He hasn't actually signed from what I can see.

omg if they end up selling torres without actually getting anyone to sign. would lol.

Dalglish confirmed that he's signed this morning aiui
― Ismael Klata, Monday, 31 January 2011 15:17 (fifteen years ago)
God I'd rather we just pocketed the Torres cash until the Summer than sign Andy Carroll now tbh. At £20 million maybe, but £35 milli!! Excessive to say the least. He'd make a perfect Hodgson striker mind you.
― waka flocka flamini (pandemic), Monday, 31 January 2011 15:18 (fifteen years ago)
"Scenario unfolding is once Torres signs for Chelsea, Liverpool will close in on Carroll asking price. £35m will be gamble by Liverpool owners."
guess who
― idgi fridays (blueski), Monday, 31 January 2011 15:19 (fifteen years ago)
Is it a Phil McNulty lolcat?
― Matt DC, Monday, 31 January 2011 15:21 (fifteen years ago)
Aw McNulty. At a guess he probably wrote that £23 million for Fernando Torres was a 'gamble'. No matter how good the player's track record is, if he's expensive, he's always a gamble. I mean how much has Veron gone for over the years and he's a fucking great player.
― waka flocka flamini (pandemic), Monday, 31 January 2011 15:23 (fifteen years ago)
So if LFC somehow get Chelsea to stump up £50 mill for Nando, and then get Carroll, they're pretty much exchanging Torres for Carrol and Suarez.
― waka flocka flamini (pandemic), Monday, 31 January 2011 15:26 (fifteen years ago)
and losing 10m
― sammy bagels (a hoy hoy), Monday, 31 January 2011 15:30 (fifteen years ago)
£7 mill surely?
― waka flocka flamini (pandemic), Monday, 31 January 2011 15:31 (fifteen years ago)
If that happens then Andy Carroll will be the eighth most expensive signing of all time. If they don't sell Torres, he'll be the seventh.
― Matt DC, Monday, 31 January 2011 15:31 (fifteen years ago)

Can we really stop it with the "Stephen Ireland is some modern day Edmundo" thing? His girlfriend miscarried so he made up a lie to try and cover up why he couldn't play for Ireland that week, and then he got some pink rims for his car. He's not exactly Margot Kidder.

In September 2007, Ireland was at the centre of controversy when, in the immediate aftermath of a Republic of Ireland international match and days before their crunch game against the Czechs, coach Steve Staunton informed him of a telephone call just received from his girlfriend reporting the death of his maternal grandmother. Staunton quickly consented to Ireland's compassionate leave on these grounds, a private jet was chartered for his return. However the media quickly discovered that Ireland's grandmother was not dead, at which point Ireland announced it was his paternal grandmother who died but yet again, reporters discovered that Ireland's paternal grandmother was also still alive, and her relatives had threatened to sue one newspaper that reported her death. Ireland changed his story again, saying one of his grandfathers had divorced, and it was his second wife who had died. That was also quickly discovered to be untrue.[23]Ireland eventually came out with the truth, admitting he had invented a reason to leave the Irish team in order to visit his girlfriend in Cork, who, he claimed, had had a miscarriage. "I decided at that stage that I must tell the truth and admit I had told lies," Ireland said. "I realise now it was a massive mistake to say my grandmothers had died and I deeply regret it."[24] However this too was found out to be another fabricated story. Stephen Ireland has to this day refused to comment (radio interview with 'bbc sport-talk') on why he couldn't control his lies. Further deception was invoked by the cork man when he refused to admit that he at the time did not even have a girlfriend or a grandmother or even an uncle to which he claimed was recently divorced from a grandmother in-law to which he also did not have.
