upgraded iPhone, dl a new copy of zing: broek. says I need to update bookmark prefs (??) and won't post
― ullr saves (gbx), Thursday, 3 February 2011 23:46 (fifteen years ago)
Bookmark prefs thing is a known bug. If not posting at all, you probably need to reinstall it, then log in again. Once you've logged in, keep using it for a few minutes to give it a chance to sync cookies etc. I know this is stupid, am working on it, sry.
― stet, Friday, 4 February 2011 00:29 (fifteen years ago)
stupid q: how do you reinstall?
― ullr saves (gbx), Friday, 4 February 2011 01:36 (fifteen years ago)
hold your finger until it starts wiggling then click the X to delete it
― Overend Wattstax (James Redd and the Blecchs), Friday, 4 February 2011 03:03 (fifteen years ago)

I always wondered about that with apps one already has.
― Cyclone Yazoo (Trayce), Friday, 4 February 2011 06:53 (fifteen years ago)

― gr8080, Friday, 4 February 2011 07:24 (fifteen years ago)

works now thx
― ullr saves (gbx), Friday, 4 February 2011 16:15 (fifteen years ago)
Sure.
Note that if you just want to reboot an app, you can double click, which will make the icons show up on bottom row where you do the same trick to "delete" it.

I want the ability to save threads for offline reading. Yes, I know about Instapaper, and I know that Zing will keep the last threads you've read in memory, but I'd like to not have to use an outside program or worry about a crash/greedy memory hog/whatever wiping them out before I can get to them.
― Christine Green Leafy Dragon Indigo, Monday, 15 August 2011 01:13 (fourteen years ago)
Zing keeps threads in the memory?

Yep, at least for a little while, until something else overwrites that part of memory.
― Christine Green Leafy Dragon Indigo, Tuesday, 16 August 2011 20:48 (fourteen years ago)
Any updates planned for Zing? A Bookmarks page (where I could see un-updated bookmarked threads) would be nice...

Android version?

^ this
― ailsa, Tuesday, 16 August 2011 21:16 (fourteen years ago)
Was working on offline on holiday in the land without data. Version I have loads all your unread bookmarks and saves them for offline. (Saving a thread for offline then is just a matter of bookmarking an older post)
Also coming is multi-account and site support, sandboxers rejoice, a custom home screen with just starred boards, full-size pics, ad some other bits and bobs.
iPad version I started to play with, but it'll be tons of work. If someone wants to make a larger site icon I'll put it up tho.
― stet, Tuesday, 16 August 2011 23:14 (fourteen years ago)
cooo, this sounds like it'll be excellent. hope you've been having fun with it.

yo stet i have noticed lately that when clicking the safari logo in a post launches the WHOLE THREAD in safari, when iirc it used to load the permalink of the post you were coming from?
― (gr8080), Sunday, 11 September 2011 23:36 (fourteen years ago)
Thought you couldn't really launch Safari from other apps these days. Although maybe it prompts you and asks Do You Really Want To Open Safari?, I never tried in Zing Tooches.
― Agent Double O POLL (James Redd and the Blecchs), Monday, 12 September 2011 00:24 (fourteen years ago)
I launch Safari from other apps all the time!
― mh, Monday, 12 September 2011 01:13 (fourteen years ago)
I haven't changed anything my end; I wonder if Safari has changed. You do have to be logged in on ILX in Safari before it'll work, though -- the auto-login strips the message. And it only works with pint Zing; Zing Lite just opens the thread.
― stet, Monday, 12 September 2011 17:10 (fourteen years ago)
hmmm maybe I just wasn't logged in, cause I'm on pint zing
― (gr8080), Monday, 12 September 2011 17:13 (fourteen years ago)
<3 pint zing
― lxy, Monday, 12 September 2011 17:27 (fourteen years ago)
Wait, what? What is pint zing? I have Zing Touch.

― Agent Double O POLL (James Redd and the Blecchs), Monday, 12 September 2011 17:30 (fourteen years ago)
Pint zing is red, and I buy a pint (or a Crunchie) when a copy gets sold. I also add you to my list of heroes. Lite Zing is blue and free.
― stet, Monday, 12 September 2011 17:45 (fourteen years ago)
Oh. In that case, I am a proud and pleased owner of Zing Pint, but I did not know it was called that.
― it was as good of a time as any to show a lighter side of 9/11 research (Je55e), Monday, 12 September 2011 21:53 (fourteen years ago)
hmmm ok i just tried again-- def login in to ILX on safari, and it just took me to the whole thread, not the permalink i was coming from. seems really intermittent, cant figure out why its working in some instances and not in others.
not really a big deal, just figured it was something you'd want to know that was happening.
― (gr8080), Monday, 12 September 2011 21:55 (fourteen years ago)
Weird. I'll take a look and see if I can see what's up
― stet, Monday, 12 September 2011 21:56 (fourteen years ago)
def noticed it occurring in only the last 2 weeks or so
― (gr8080), Monday, 12 September 2011 21:59 (fourteen years ago)
It is happening to me, too.
