There's a great photo of the two of us from the same photo shoot, photographer told me to look away with one eye and look at mr veg with the other and bugs were flying into our mouths and it was a pretty lol afternoon in general.

I don't have any of my great t-shirts anymore. They either got worn out beyond the point of usability or misplaced in moves. The oldest t-shirt I have now is from when I saw Riverdales open for Green Day in 1995 (I still love me some Riverdales).

I'm on the far left fwiw. Apparently this was taken in 1991 at some sort of informal graduation party (most of the people in the pic were a class ahead of me)? Do check out the "California roll" on my jeans there. When's that look coming back?

johnny fever: in your pics, you look a helluva lot like one of my best friends from college (circa 1991 in fact). the pic also reminds me about the rolled-up cuffs look that was in vogue late 80s/early 90s.

We called them the "California roll", but I don't know if that's what they were called everywhere else.

(Also, I lived in Alabama, and the only things I knew that came from California were hair metal and the 49ers.)

i don't remember any sort of name for rolled-up jean cuffs (much less "california roll") TBH. it was more of a preppy thing than an alt/indie thing in the corner of NJ where i grew up (though i grew up in Preppy Central [i.e., Princeton] and there were fluid boundaries b/w the two pre-Nirvana).

One night in college I drunkenly made out with some kid while wearing my Cure Paris shirt (sadly since lost to time). I distinctly remember hanging out afterwards and him saying to me, "I don't normally make out with girls who wear Cure shirts." to which I responded, "Well, I don't normally make out with jerks who like Phish." I left.

Ah, I never saw Freaks and Geeks. Far too flattering a comparison, of course, and to be fair the army jacket/band shirt combo wasn't exactly the most outré sartorial choice one could make in 1996. But thanks!
