Couples in rom-coms are always supposed to "meet cute". Meeting trashy seems like just an extension of meeting cute.

Aimless, Saturday, 29 January 2011 04:12 (fifteen years ago)

Also, what is your opinion of Boise compared to Salt Lake City?

Geographically Restless,

i guess you are the fattest and the ugliest (Matt P), Saturday, 29 January 2011 04:12 (fifteen years ago)

Matt,

The guys in the red & black shirt in this are two of my best pals.
Their shows were cute because they had this huge following with jr high and high school age kids.

I never really listen to them of my own volition but they were fun to see play.
BTW I am going to googleproof your post.

Rocker Brian (Abbbottt), Saturday, 29 January 2011 04:17 (fifteen years ago)

I always wanted them to make shirts but they never did! I think I liked their name better than their music.

Rocker Brian (Abbbottt), Saturday, 29 January 2011 04:18 (fifteen years ago)

Dear Matt P –

I loved Boise. It is a lot smaller of a city than SLC, but I think that made it easier to meet people. Pretty, mild winters, less crazy of alcohol laws than Utah. I would defs be happy to live their again someday. You do have to hear about college football constantly, though.

Rocker Brian (Abbbottt), Saturday, 29 January 2011 04:19 (fifteen years ago)

Actually it's less pretty than SLC. The area surrounding Boise is really scrubby high desert biome.

الله basedأكبر (forksclovetofu), Saturday, 29 January 2011 04:21 (fifteen years ago)

Dear forks,

You come across on ILX as being p dang robust and lifeful. FWIW you are not the only one here incontrovertibly moving towards death. Try not to die anytime soon, though, I think you are a super great person.

Maybe try getting some Sea Monkeys? When I had them, they frightened me terribly, and I dreamed about their creepy translucent forms every night, and frankly they soaked up all my worry huice.

Unhelpfully,

A butt

Rocker Brian (Abbbottt), Saturday, 29 January 2011 04:24 (fifteen years ago)

"huice"? I mean juice. ¡jajaja!

Rocker Brian (Abbbottt), Saturday, 29 January 2011 04:25 (fifteen years ago)

hm. i will consider. i think i may need more sleep or something.

الله basedأكبر (forksclovetofu), Saturday, 29 January 2011 04:27 (fifteen years ago)

Sleep + breakfast are the keys to a good day. And not being in extreme poverty.

Rocker Brian (Abbbottt), Saturday, 29 January 2011 04:28 (fifteen years ago)

you're likely right on

Rocker Brian (Abbbottt), Saturday, 29 January 2011 04:34 (fifteen years ago)

Dear Abbott,

Will there be a place ilxors can hang out after the earth goes away and time comes to an end? I mean, I know there will be, but do you know the address?

Thanks,

Dear Mr. Fever,

It sounds like you are trying to trick me into writing "ILX singularity fanfic." Have you mistaken me for Charles Stross? Or did you know that secretly, Heaven is the Zing app? Heaven is as good and as boring as we all suspected it was. You are a perceptive guy.
Pseudo-singularitarianly,

There was an ad for him in the theater before the movie today!

Peter Pepsi (Abbbottt), Monday, 14 February 2011 02:22 (fifteen years ago)

dear
abbott

do ou know anything about patching holes in jeans?

yours,
dyo

dayo, Monday, 14 February 2011 02:29 (fifteen years ago)

Dear dayo,

I had a job interview at a vintage denim place* and they told me pants with holes sell better than pants with patches. So if they bought a pair of old jeans that had a patch of tar or oil on it or something, they would abrade a hole into the stain rather than patching over the stain. However, it sounds like you are more interested in wearing hole-free jeans than selling jeans. The answer is: I know nothing about this firsthand, but I should probably try, since I develop embarrassing worn holes in my jeans fairly quickly bcz I am a bit of a chubbo. Anyway, I found a tutorial for you, looks like it would work as well handsewing as it would with a serger. I do remember my mom patching my dad's jeans like that with the denim patch on the inside. They also make iron-on denim patches if you are intimidated by sewing like I am (it doesn't make any sense, I know).

*incredibly dumb story – I was 20 and barely not-Mormon and still feeling guilty about smoking pot, so I felt the need to divulge this hobby in the job interview...they didn't call me back.

Peter Pepsi (Abbbottt), Monday, 14 February 2011 02:36 (fifteen years ago)

thank you abbott! now I am wishing to have asked for the material the tailor took off when he hemmed my jeans. my hole is located near the crotch - quite embarrassing, and sometimes I wonder if my students snicker at me behind my back because of it.

dayo, Monday, 14 February 2011 02:54 (fifteen years ago)

Yeah that is why I am not into the iron-on denim patches. On a knee or something they are ok but I tried it once for a hole by my crotch and I felt like I was wearing a big comedy censorship bar. "NOTHING TO SEE HERE."

Peter Pepsi (Abbbottt), Monday, 14 February 2011 02:56 (fifteen years ago)

dear abb(b)ott(t)

forgive me and obvs no need to answer if this is too personal, but i thought you and the V lived in NM? but this appears to be untrue. also, that is a lot of commute time. do you still work in NM or something?

(ilx change is weird for me, sorry. i still feel like n/a should be in richmond and jaymc's impending marriage will throw me for a loop.)

mookieproof, Monday, 14 February 2011 03:00 (fifteen years ago)

Dear mookie,

lol! Also I didn't know jaymc is getting married ––– that is so exciting! His girlfriend is so cute. Anyway, yes: Viceroy & I moved to Tucson in July (not the best time to move to Arizona!) for graduate school. So we haven't lived there that long, you are not too behind the times! I feel like I move around a lot & always have.

When you said "this question is too personal" I was expecting something really shocking, so "y u no in land of enchantment" is nothing.

<3 A butt

Peter Pepsi (Abbbottt), Monday, 14 February 2011 03:03 (fifteen years ago)

Oh, as to your second question: it would be 3-4 hours by car to my old home in NM, so: no. Just buses are slow. The wait between buses, hurts, too: 20-30 mins between transfers. I get a lot of knitting done.

Peter Pepsi (Abbbottt), Monday, 14 February 2011 03:07 (fifteen years ago)

abbs

is is true that america (nyc & similar excepted) is a really inconvenient place for non car owners

the philosopher named after a whiskey (nakhchivan), Monday, 14 February 2011 03:11 (fifteen years ago)

dear nakh:

I would say yes. Everything is far apart and designed for cars, because our country was founded by a bunch of talking cars that have since lost their power because no one believes in them.

LOL i haven't lived in richmond for seven years

congratulations (n/a), Monday, 14 February 2011 21:42 (fifteen years ago)

my experience w/ tucson is that famous/interesting ppl like that move there to get a dope house in the foothills for half what it would cost in california, and then they just hang there all the time and never leave except to maybe go to a nice restaurant once in a while.

my little brother was grade-school friends w/ this guy's kids but we never saw him:
