I looooove parks and rec but Party Down is just perfect.

i've never seen it. maybe netflix has it.

Party Down was 2 seasons, 20 episodes total, and every one of them is essential viewing if you love laughing.

Netflix has every Party Down ep available on instant view or on DVD. I watched them all in about a week. They're incredible.

I'm still struck by what a brilliant premise for a show Party Down had. Changing the setting for each episode wasn't a convenience, it was a necessity. Only good things can come from that kind of foresight (except getting canceled, maybe).

i do love watching parties. on t.v. or in movies. i always thought there should be a 24 hour party channel for shut-ins. all kinds of parties. even large holiday gatherings for people to watch when they don't have the mental strength to face their own families. i know i'd watch it.

I have never related with Ron Swanson more than when he was talking about how he best likes his friends that tell him nothing about their emotions or relations. And his best friend, and how lovely it is that they still don't talk today. That's just like me!!!

Nick Offerman was on Conan last night and it was totally delightful. He's not that far removed from his character, though he may have been playing it up.

^^ this was awesome, especially his explanation of Ron's hairstyle: he passes a comb through it once and thinks, "That is sufficient."

Seeing him without the mustache was pretty trippy, tho.

It just now occurred to me that there's no Paul Schneider anymore.

lol I hadn't thought about it, and I knew he was leaving, but damn...he isn't missed AT ALL.

It's fun to think about what happens to characters who just drop out of a show and are never mentioned again - like that girl who was in the first season of West Wing and suddenly disappeared in the interim. For some reason these are always grisly possibilities for me.

a) Maybe he committed suicide.
b) Maybe he was killed and eaten.
c) Maybe he was paralyzed by a madman and left fully conscious on a post in the middle of a field while dressed as a human scarecrow - like something out of EC Comics, maybe?

I dunno.

Well, they did give him an outro story (I can't remember the details, but I think he took a job in the private sector in a different town).

Completely forgot about that.

it was kind of cute how they rationalized it by saying the guy his character was loosely based on did the same thing IRL, like yeah whatever makes it easier
