sammy bagels (a hoy hoy), Thursday, 27 January 2011 17:30 (fifteen years ago)

oh wait lol that is breaking news? that inter may make a bid for a player? YAWN

sammy bagels (a hoy hoy), Thursday, 27 January 2011 17:31 (fifteen years ago)

oh ffs, inter to make 40m bid for bale

WOW

I see what this is (Local Garda), Thursday, 27 January 2011 17:31 (fifteen years ago)

haha, was just coming to yawn about that. Club want to spend money on player who is quite good.

ailsa, Thursday, 27 January 2011 17:31 (fifteen years ago)

let the abuse of ian prior commence

I see what this is (Local Garda), Thursday, 27 January 2011 17:32 (fifteen years ago)

hmm, from the time i clicked on it to the time i accidentally clicked back it went from "will make bid" to "are making spectacular raid".

sammy bagels (a hoy hoy), Thursday, 27 January 2011 17:32 (fifteen years ago)

if maicon wasn't walking wounded when spurs played inter presumably bale would only be worth 15m

I see what this is (Local Garda), Thursday, 27 January 2011 17:33 (fifteen years ago)

Wow, that manages to be both boring AND annoying at the same time.

That *is* what I'd heard. Told you it wasn't really worth waiting for.

If Inter weren't falling asleep on account of being lol 4-0 up against a 10 men team...

sammy bagels (a hoy hoy), Thursday, 27 January 2011 17:37 (fifteen years ago)

pretty sure this has a net negative result for the guardian, and ian prior's credibility. shame on him.

world_cup_bet World Cup Profit Bet
Inter to bid £40m for Bale in summer? that is one shite #guardianexclusive. Here's my #exclusive - Torquay not thinking of buying Messi

Me buying a lottery ticket and wondering about what it would buy me today:: The staff at Torquay wondering how they can get Messi.

sammy bagels (a hoy hoy), Thursday, 27 January 2011 17:39 (fifteen years ago)

If it was 'Inter have bought Bale' then kudos Guardian but BIG MASSIVE EXCLUSIVE ONE TEAM IS INTERESTED IN A PLAYER, WE KNOW, WE READ MULTIPLE STORIES ABOUT IT ON GOAL.COM just makes me think twice about buying a copy next time I walk past a newsstand.

sammy bagels (a hoy hoy), Thursday, 27 January 2011 17:41 (fifteen years ago)

There's also rumours about a player called Sturridge leaving City

Death and Taxis (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Thursday, 27 January 2011 17:43 (fifteen years ago)

GUARDIAN EXCLUSIVE - Manchester United are hoping to win the Premiership this year

Matt DC, Thursday, 27 January 2011 17:44 (fifteen years ago)

ian prior will have regretted some of this abuse on Twitter - but surely his 'exclusive', which has brought the story to a huge audience, will show him to be a man of action, and someone unlikely to back down when faced with the possibilities of keeping quiet, or speaking out

acoleuthic, Thursday, 27 January 2011 17:48 (fifteen years ago)

GUARDIAN EXCLUSIVE - I might have a sandwich tomorrow. Sources say this may take place at lunchtime.

Matt DC, Thursday, 27 January 2011 17:50 (fifteen years ago)

phil mcnulty will have watched this foolish use of twitter with not a little bemusement, knowing that perhaps now he, a seasoned campaigner in the world of football writing, can seize the opportunity that the guardian's rash exclusive has placed in his lap.

one thing is clear, sir alex ferguson will have enjoyed every minute.

I see what this is (Local Garda), Thursday, 27 January 2011 17:51 (fifteen years ago)

GUARDIAN EXCLUSIVE- Pope revealed to be Catholic.

Algerian Goalkeeper, Thursday, 27 January 2011 17:51 (fifteen years ago)

prior now 12/1 to appear on next year's I'm a celeb

cozen, Thursday, 27 January 2011 17:52 (fifteen years ago)

while it may be that this big money move for the highly-rated Bale will be hard for Tottenham to turn down, some people will argue that the London club may baulk at the prospect of losing such a talismanic figure.

One thing's for certain: the 21 year old welshman is causing a stir in the world of football.

À la recherche du temps Pardew (jim in glasgow), Thursday, 27 January 2011 18:01 (fifteen years ago)

This is all pretty funny stuff, but the FA's magnificently trollish timing of the Blackpool fine is still the funniest thing in the world to me

Bad Fucking Dowie (Sgt. Biscuits), Thursday, 27 January 2011 18:01 (fifteen years ago)

"Let them try and fine me, it's an absolute disgrace. I'll show the Premier League. We were a credit to football, and let the Premier League try to tell me otherwise."

This is a great opportunity for him to become a credit to shutting the fuck up for five minutes

Bad Fucking Dowie (Sgt. Biscuits), Thursday, 27 January 2011 18:02 (fifteen years ago)

yeah seriously, holloway really needs to have a word with himself, and then not have a word with anyone else for quite a while.

I see what this is (Local Garda), Thursday, 27 January 2011 18:13 (fifteen years ago)

Yes, and maybe all the pundits can stop calling him a "breath of fresh air for the league" - he's just another mouthy git with but a different accent to Phil Brown.

onimo, Thursday, 27 January 2011 18:23 (fifteen years ago)

@ianprior the loser journalist has lost 400+ followers so far...lets get him DOWN to 6000 by the end of the day...please RT

I know the story was up there with every red top "exclusive" you get in a transfer window but organising an UNFOLLOW campaign is just sad.

onimo, Thursday, 27 January 2011 18:29 (fifteen years ago)

Well, you can joke, but Holloway is a disingenuous bullshit merchant and for all his talk of playing the game the right way I expect him to revert to lump kicking type as soon as the honeymoon period ends for Blackpool, which will be a lot sooner than it was for Hull.

― Sgt. Biscuits, Wednesday, 18 August 2010 13:32 (5 months ago) Bookmark Suggest Ban Permalink

You have to take out everything after "revert to lump kicking type" and replace it with "turn out to have a really fucking dodgy clause in his contract that gives him a percentage of all the transfers he makes a profit on", but otherwise my dogshit Arsenal fan troll persona was basically OTM all along.

Bad Fucking Dowie (Sgt. Biscuits), Thursday, 27 January 2011 18:30 (fifteen years ago)

fair play to Prior for retweeting tbh :)

xposting myself

lol yes use the pissweakness of the story in your defence, good one

r|t|c, Thursday, 27 January 2011 18:47 (fifteen years ago)

that kaka one was on the front page of the print edition of the observer....what a joke. lost any faith in them after that.

on a week when they're pillorying sky might want to take a look at themselves.

I see what this is (Local Garda), Thursday, 27 January 2011 18:57 (fifteen years ago)

I'm still curious about nbs protecting his sources tbh. Fortune teller? Phone hacking? Like *this* with Moratti?

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 27 January 2011 19:07 (fifteen years ago)

When Phil McNulty is scoring points off the quality of your journalism, your career is over in my opinion.

Bad Fucking Dowie (Sgt. Biscuits), Thursday, 27 January 2011 19:08 (fifteen years ago)

Do you think it's common that a manager gets a cut of every transfer? It sure explains the existence of John Lambie and his signing of 80 players a season then selling them after a month.

Algerian Goalkeeper, Thursday, 27 January 2011 19:11 (fifteen years ago)

"Guardian fined 25k for putting out a weakened exclusive" is pretty bang-on as far as immediate-aftermath-text-message-jokes go, by the way.

Bad Fucking Dowie (Sgt. Biscuits), Thursday, 27 January 2011 19:20 (fifteen years ago)

Do you think it's common that a manager gets a cut of every transfer? It sure explains the existence of John Lambie and his signing of 80 players a season then selling them after a month.

I believe Iain Holloway receives a percentage of the *profit* on Adam's transfer. I'm not sure how many players have had tenfold increases in value under John Lambie's tutelage.

onimo, Thursday, 27 January 2011 20:19 (fifteen years ago)

I'm still sure it's less than under Big Phil and little Brazillians. How much was u-21 captain "Scheidt by name, shite by nature" again?

progspeed you! black metallers (aldo), Thursday, 27 January 2011 20:32 (fifteen years ago)

Nothing near the £5m reported, but still a hell of a lot + wages for a guy they'd only seen in a 5 minute video made by his agent.

onimo, Thursday, 27 January 2011 20:36 (fifteen years ago)

iirc Scheidt went on to captain Corinthians (?) to a championship after leaving us. Maybe not as duff as he was painted in the press but totally unsuited to the SPL (see also World Cup winner Juninho who looked fucking gash).

Both players would probably blame Martin O'Neill for their lack of development/opportunities in their time there.

onimo, Thursday, 27 January 2011 20:38 (fifteen years ago)

I didn't recall correctly - they won the cup, not the league, when he was there.

onimo, Thursday, 27 January 2011 20:40 (fifteen years ago)

Just re-read what you said and I think the answer is "lol EPL". Once somebody looks half decent their price rockets because that's where batshit prices go to die. Xpost to G

progspeed you! black metallers (aldo), Thursday, 27 January 2011 20:42 (fifteen years ago)

Those inflated values are mostly paid between English teams for EPL to EPL transfers. Not too many leave the UK for bigger money than they arrived. EPL chairmen are suckers basically.

onimo, Thursday, 27 January 2011 20:44 (fifteen years ago)

I mean seriously... I said earlier this year I'd rather have Charlie Adam than Stevie Me, yet one is "valued" 10x more than the other one. Torres is worth more than £10M after the past couple of seasons? Seen people saying £60M+ onF365.
