ate bagels, watched Degrassi retrospective, napped, watched last week's nip/tuck, which was bad: no blood, no fights, nobody died. wtf. There is a party to go to, but that would mean, y'know, decision-making + effort. (and what could top Lady Sovereign last night?) jaymc, pls come to my house too and pick up around it b/c dishes need to be done and maybe some vacuuming too, kthnxbye.

speaking of bagels, the baguettte i got was an everything baguette - all the seeds and garlic. i know it's not authentic, but damn, is it good!

I fell in love with Chateau de Campuget, Cuvee Prestige, 2001. So I ordered 6 bottles of it. This is the first one. They say it's supposed to be best in 2012. I can't even imagine it being better. Like chocolate cake, a little at a time. Also I really love raspberry chocolate cake. Anyone got any raspberry chocolate cake? Can you pass it over here? Thanks.

I had a dream about Bryan Ferry last night that totally cracked me up. I think we were on the "Love Boat" or something, you know, that old TV show? I'm actually not much of a Ferry fan, though I do like some Roxy Music a lot.

Wine sounds nice, but I think I'm going to make do with the last Sierra Nevada in the refrigerator.

Is it by Brian Greene?

I watched Jackie Brown and got takeout. Half of my pizza was squashed in transit and bits of salami and capsicum were stuck to the top of the lid. It looked like someone sat on it. When I was cleaning up this morning I thought of Uncle Herb - "discarded pizza boxes are an inexpensive source of cheese."

jbr i think i need to get drunk w/ you the next time i am in ny!

Tonight was the first time I've left the house since Wed. Ahh, unemployment.

Went to an instore to see a couple of art/punk bands we know. Good fun, drinking 40s in paper bags. Then caught some whataburgers and met friends at the Carousel Lounge (BYOB dive with bizarre circus theme down the street from us.) Lastly back to ours for some dominoes and satiellite radio. Now my guy is passed out asleep but I'm non-drunk and awake. what a drag.

Jody, you seem to have an odd fetish for photographing your meals.

As for my Saturday night -- had the gf's parents over for dinner in our apartment for the first time. All things considered it went ok -- I thought it was a bad idea to begin with since her dad is a major foodie and a very critical person, but it went ok. I need to drink the other half of the bottle of wine now.

i photograph a lot of things.

The Great Pagoda of Funn (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 4 December 2005 05:37 (eighteen years ago) link

my wine is gone

:( :( :(

tres letraj (tehresa), Sunday, 4 December 2005 05:37 (eighteen years ago) link

It was JBR's and ET's fetish for photographing food which made me change my settings to images off. Not a criticism, just a fact. And I've been a happier IlX0r ever since.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Sunday, 4 December 2005 05:38 (eighteen years ago) link

"fetish" wtf, you ppl act like you've never seen pictures of food before.

The Great Pagoda of Funn (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 4 December 2005 05:39 (eighteen years ago) link

i take pictures of buildings too, why is that not a "fetish"?

The Great Pagoda of Funn (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 4 December 2005 05:40 (eighteen years ago) link

It's nothing bad, it's just a quirk I noticed. I don't know a lot of people who seem to take pictures of what they and their dining companions eat as much as you do.

Abbadabba Berman (Hurting), Sunday, 4 December 2005 05:45 (eighteen years ago) link

that last photo kinda looks like a fried scrotum

you also mentioned that you're not a foodie.

if you read gothamist or sliceNY or something, they're always posting pictures of their meals.

The Great Pagoda of Funn (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 4 December 2005 05:47 (eighteen years ago) link

i take pics when i make pretty food at home, but i've never whipped out the camera at a restaurant.

still, jbr's food pics make me mad jealous of the fine cuisine of which she often partakes!

tres letraj (tehresa), Sunday, 4 December 2005 05:47 (eighteen years ago) link

my saturday night consisted of drinking beer and eating tacos and watching movies and realizing someone had moved my cellphone during food prep into a big wet spot on the kitchen counter which proceeded to seep into the battery casing and render it inoperable >>>:-X

i don't partake of "fine cuisine" that often actually; i used to a lot more but i've been kind of a hermit this past year.

The Great Pagoda of Funn (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 4 December 2005 05:52 (eighteen years ago) link

i am drinking the rest of the beer i stole from the fridge before i left. it serves those bastards right for putting me out anywhere between $40-150. so, yes.

i am usually very anti-mixing, which is why i hardly ever do shots -- BUT last night, i had one beer, then a glass and a half of wine, and then a few more beers, and i was fine.

Liquor before beer, never fear.
Beer before liquor, never sicker.

yeah, don't know about wine though.

I am *a bit* of a foodie -- I like good food and I like seeking out new foods and new places to eat -- but my gfs dad is severely obsessive. Nothing was more castrating than having him judge our shortage of good cooking utencils.

Abbadabba Berman (Hurting), Sunday, 4 December 2005 06:05 (eighteen years ago) link

haha that's ok... my dad gives a full report of every meal when he returns from business trips!

xpost Heehee, my gfs brother was just complaining about the exact exact same thing before his dad got here. He was doing an imitation of his dad going on and on about some place in Quebec City (where he goes frequently on business) that had "good simple food."

Once, on a visit to North Carolina where the gfs parents live now, while my gf and her mom were shopping, her dad took me into Williams Sonoma and literally took me shelf by shelf, telling me something about everything in the entire store -- (in thick Israeli accent) "This... this... this is the BEST porcelain like you have only in 3-star Michelin restaurant in France... these knifes, they are German knives, HIGHEST quality! But...but the Japanese have killed them now...this is Le Creuset, it is the BEST! It is like a dream to own an entire set of Le Creuset ..."
