YA READY FOR YOUR TURKEY DINNER?

it's the cliche for jews to eat chinese and see movies on x-mas right? that's what we're doing, ok. not trying to have a michael richards moment or be ANT-t'giving, we're just keeping it low key.

My sister is helping my mother with pies and mashed potatoes. Creamed onions might have gotten lost in the shuffle, I know that I didn't get the onions, and if I didn't get 'em, they didn't get got. I'm kind of the one-eyed man who is king in the land of the blind, here.

Donald also HAS to have Le Sueur canned peas and pickled purple cabbage out of a jar. A holdover from childhood. One year I made the cabbage from scratch, with apples. There was no discernable difference between that and the store-bought, so never again. Likewise the home-made cranberry sauce. Whole-berry Oceanspray is just fine, thank you!

at least my aunt's pumpkin bisque was amazing.

I think we're having squash risotto and pumpkin pie tonight! We will raise a glass to transatlantic chums.

Back from my nephew's house in Birmingham, a nice visit and a good meal. The mantle of hosting and cooking has passed from my parents after decades, though, and it's weird to eat Thanksgiving dinner that doesn't taste like my mom's cooking.

Trying to keep it down.

And stay awake.

I ate too much of my FIL's cooking. He is insanely heavy-handed with the butter, cream, and salt. Which normally I'd be all for. I should have just stuck with one kind of pie for dessert, but noooooo.... It was good, though, so I shall just enjoy feeling FAT.

YA READY FOR MY TURKEY YAM FARTS?

My now retired chef Dad made veggie lasagne (and, of course, turkey for the non veg) stuffing, creamed corn, creamed peas, mashed sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, cauliflower with cheese, pommes anna, pumpkin pie, and blueberry pie. I don't think I have to eat for a week.

guys lemon rosemary turkey is what i think i've been waiting for in all previous thanksgivings of my life! amazing.

I've done/am doing so much cooking but I don't have much of an appetite...hopefully it returns in the next couple hours.

my supper included

turkey (both white and dark meat) with turkey gravy
crab cakes
shrimp cocktail
stuffed mushrooms
roasted root vegetables
green bean casserole
green beans (non-casserole format)
salad with cranberries, walnuts and bleu cheese
a roll
some wine
apple pie baked in a paper bag

one turkey leg, mashed potatoes, salad, cranberry sauce, squash, corn, three rolls, two slices of apple pie, and three scoops of ice cream. And four glasses of wine.

I finished eating by 3:00 in the afternoon. Now here it is six hours later and I don't feel stuffed to the gills anymore, which is nice. And I'll go to bed hungry and therefore lose some lb's overnight. Good times.

my supper was

brussels sprouts
green beans w shallots & bacon
mashed potatoes w chorizo
sweet potatoes with baked apples casserole

there were pies but i did not eat them.

All y'all who say "stuffing," is this something that is baked in the bird, or do you really mean "dressing"?

Stuffing is the bread based goodness traditionally baked in the bird but it doesn't have to be. Would you really call that dressing?

DO NOT THROW TOMATOES AT ME, but I do not like holiday meals. I prefer indian food any day of the week. We went to the stanley hotel and had dinner earlier, I had pecan pie and salad and brie. oh and some steamed asparagus.

imo the best cranberry sauce is the stuff that comes straight out tha can.
