UPDATE: Arseblog have now pointed out that The Sun in fact secured the quotes from a different source. Despite this – the above piece remains to prove how The Sun have manipulated an innocent interview to attempt to drum up problems in the Arsenal dressing room.
great work in putting shoddy journalism to the sword, guys.

Fabregas vs Denilson would be one of the lamest training ground fites imaginable.

I like his suit here. I had a Cosmos replica retro shirt with equally huge badge, but I seem to have lost it. I'll be disappointed with that, it was the best strip I've ever owned, largely for being made of cotton and not horrible footy shirt material.

I was thinking yesterday after Stevie Me's "I'll make sure Kenny gets the job beyond this season" speech and how fed up I am with him and Carragher sticking out as two huge egos in the Liverpool team that we could really do without, and comparing it to say Arsenal, who appear to all get on with each other really well. Don't know what point I'm making. Oh look a spider on the wall.
― The referee was perfect (Chris), Wednesday, 19 January 2011 14:47 (fifteen years ago)
You are more than welcome to Denilson, Almunia and Bendybus to provide some team spirit at Liverpool.
― "jobs" (a hoy hoy), Wednesday, 19 January 2011 14:54 (fifteen years ago)
Yeah Gerrard needs to shut up and start performing better if he wants to have a say in Liverpool's future.
― I thought I lived in England (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 19 January 2011 15:08 (fifteen years ago)
That penalty miss at Blackburn, he might as well admit it was deliberate.
― Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 19 January 2011 15:10 (fifteen years ago)
behaviour like that - which we'll never know or prove was deliberate - should not endear you to yr new manager or be seen as anything other than diva-y tantruming

yeah gerrard has pretty much done nothing apart from istanbul in his entire career. he plainly must know nothing about liverpool football club either.

there's no doubt he'll have been bearing in mind the particular resonance of the bulger case to liverpudlians, but what about steven gerrard? the huyton born professional footballer has long been a celebrated figure not only in the streets of liverpool but the streets of many other towns too

McNulty is actually too boring to be a successful subject for parody, something I never thought possible.
I'm no Gerrard stan by any means but I don't think he was actually going for the whole "I'm the big man here and if I like the manager he stays" thing, I think he was just talking about, y'know, playing well. He's not (yet) up there with Terry or Shearer in the "I am this club" bigger than the manager cockfarmer stakes.
― Matt DC, Thursday, 20 January 2011 09:53 (fifteen years ago)

He mightn't have meant to give that impression, but he certainly has too much influence at the club, or at least he did under the previous regime. If Kenny's to remain our manager, and if FSG deem him good enough, then great, but it should be FSG's decision, not Steven Gerrard's. Last time he got his way we ended up with Hodgson.
― The referee was perfect (Chris), Thursday, 20 January 2011 13:21 (fifteen years ago)

John Carew to Stoke is one of those transfers that manages to feel both inevitable and inspired at the same time.
― Matt DC, Friday, 21 January 2011 12:53 (fifteen years ago)
and getting rid of tuncay 'tunny' sanli, ricardo 'rick' fuller and eidur 'guddy' gudjohnsen at the same time, a cull of any idelogically unsound elements
leaving the villa martin o'neill created in his own image to go to stoke is crossing the lethe from bigness to......stokeness

Bent to Villa for £18m, Carew to Stoke on loan, Villa reinvest a paltry £3m in getting newly-surplus to requirements Ricardo Fuller from Stoke.
Difficult to see who's done worse out of all this.
― Matt DC, Friday, 21 January 2011 13:25 (fifteen years ago)
logical business all round.
Keane crouch double switch to sunderland to fund move for kenwyne jones ties it all up.
― Achillean Heel (darraghmac), Friday, 21 January 2011 13:31 (fifteen years ago)
Spurs would be the losers in all that. Kenwyne Jones is starting to look like one of those strikers people rate for no real reason.
― Matt DC, Friday, 21 January 2011 14:04 (fifteen years ago)
yeah i'm not lobbying for it, but it'd be a neat merrygoround.
Defoe, pav to start next few games hopefully tho, crouch just not worth a place on the bus lately
