is there a way to configure a non-jailbroken iphone so that only certain numbers can call you/text you? (can you do this on android?)

Just give people a Google Voice number and not your real one, imo

OT: would people be creeped if their calls and txts to me were being managed by Google? Thinking of moving to Google Voice and I'm not sure what the ethic is here.

i used tried out google voice via the web interface a little bit in 2009 and haven't really looked at it since; i'm hesitant to use it again, but i'll check it out. thanks!

verizon iphone presale was a joke, did anyone actually order one? website was down.

Order's been placed w/ Fedex but hasn't shipped. Sounds like the first batch went out already and the next batch got stuck due to snow. I'm guessing I'm in the next batch but should still get it early next week. Assuming someone's around to sign for it. If not I get to dig out my car and drive to maspeth to pick it up.

I DJ'd Dazzle Ships wed night so I came home, had a snack and next thing I knew it was 2:45 and I was looking at Google Reader and started seeing posts saying "pre-orders are now being accepted early" so I went and ordered one. Then I got 4 hours of sleep and went to work. So at least it wasn't like I stayed up all night sitting at home waiting to buy the thing (though I probably would've!).

Most are probably fake. This year I've noticed the rumour mill churn neatly through basically every permutation of iphone/ipad configuration. This week seems to be all about a small/cheap iphone, then there'll be like a 14" ipad or something.

Right so next week this ipad 2 will be launched (cbf linking, it's everywhere). Consensus based on rumours is:

- thinner
- lighter
- better speaker
- 512 Mb RAM
- faster processor
- same screen res
- facetime camera (maybe also a 1 mp rear camera)
- gyro and all that other crap that's in the iphone 4 that nobody uses

I was never getting an ipad but now that I'm going back to skewl to learn Chinese I have two distinct reasons (Pleco and Pages) that together make the ipad the only proposition on the market.

Writing Chinese characters on a trackpad (or worse, with a mouse) is a disaster.

well, shit, guess I should have put my 13" MBP and iPad I was going to sell on Ebay last week. Maybe I can sneak put them on tonight and not lose too much, relatively speaking.
