Farcebook making yer mobile number and email address available to developers. How that would benefit ANY user anywhere in the world is a mystery http://media.photobucket.com/image/it%20is%20a%20mystery/ll_Crayola_ll7/Emotes/th_iiamicon2.gif but pretty clear how corrupt shitheads will exploit this for money.
You don't disclose it unless you explicitly give permission, but still.
― hipsterPad (Schlafsack), Monday, 17 January 2011 05:08 (fifteen years ago)
sorry, ACTUAL PHYSICAL address, not email address
― hipsterPad (Schlafsack), Monday, 17 January 2011 05:09 (fifteen years ago)
As I said to someone else about this, what idiot is putting their home address/phone number in their profile to start with?
― Stargazey Pi (Trayce), Monday, 17 January 2011 05:48 (fifteen years ago)
ikr but the motive still stinks to high heaven.

― Stargazey Pi (Trayce), Monday, 17 January 2011 05:54 (fifteen years ago)
its crazy how bad facebook has fucked up their whole app system - you know when a good % of yr users wont mess w/it for fear of unattended consequences youve got a problem
― ice cr?m, Monday, 17 January 2011 14:41 (fifteen years ago)
so a friend of mine has just had his profile shut down. no explanation and they're not giving jim an explanation. effing weird.

Also FB made it much easier to detect when a user unlikes a page.
― Stockhausen's Ekranoplan Quartet (Elvis Telecom), Monday, 17 January 2011 21:23 (fifteen years ago)
This will Page admins immediately recognize if something they’ve done, like post a controversial status update, is causing users to unsubscribe.
That makes sense, to me. Any developer would love to know what steps/missteps cause changes to their userbase.
The address/phone thing is needless though. This shit's just made me think "fine, no more apps". I cant think of the last time I saw one I *genuinely* needed anyway. Theyre all quizzes, "causes" and horoscope shit.

I remember when old people first started using e-mail, and they were all "Why am I getting all this junk mail? I never go to sites that talk about pennis?" and now, they're all going to be asking the same damn questions all over again.

I'm scared to know what an "outdoor fun belt" is. Does it prevent hernias while bungee jumping?

maybe the company manufactures bungee jumping gear for babies

so this subject was touched on some months ago...but the 10 friends that facebook picks to list under your profile is really bothering me...like I'm pretty sure 80% of the people they list are people with whom you've fb-interacted recently but then there are always 1-2 people who are there for absolutely no reason. what was so bad about just using a pure random group of friends? it's something I notice every time I log in at this point.
― iatee, Tuesday, 18 January 2011 00:42 (fifteen years ago)
so he DID notice it and he changed it to

might be a note of sarcasm in there.

Just got kicked over to the new profile mself. Whatev. I think that list of friends it shows you can change - a la myspace top 10 maybe? - but I cant work out how.
― Stargazey Pi (Trayce), Tuesday, 18 January 2011 08:28 (fifteen years ago)
Why can't the apps just deal w/granular permissions? There are plenty I would add if only I could say "yeh sure have my name and friends list but i'm fucked if you're posting to my wall or getting my phone number" in the authorise box.
