Just in case anyone's interesting

zvookster, Wednesday, 12 January 2011 09:47 (fifteen years ago)

i'm interesting!

all i gotta do is akh nachivly (darraghmac), Wednesday, 12 January 2011 09:53 (fifteen years ago)

Pienaar can play on either wing, right? Would he stand a chance of replacing Lennon on the right? He might be the long term option for when we inevitably sell Bale in the summer I suppose, otherwise just adding another attacking midfield option for an already stocked bench does feel kind of pointless.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 12 January 2011 10:05 (fifteen years ago)

pienaar is a neat, efficient possession player of the ajax school and played with van der vaart there

tottenham's success is more about directness on the flanks and possession players in the centre

nakhchivan, Wednesday, 12 January 2011 10:07 (fifteen years ago)

see him as less obviously an 'attacking' midfielder than modric, bale, kranjcar, vdv or lennon, tbh. We dont really have that many centre-circle options, as evidenced by jenas still playing every now and then. Pienaar definitely a little more of that type of player than modric or vdv, and less cumbersome than thudd with it.

all i gotta do is akh nachivly (darraghmac), Wednesday, 12 January 2011 10:15 (fifteen years ago)

Does he ever actually play in that role for Everton?a

Matt DC, Wednesday, 12 January 2011 10:19 (fifteen years ago)

             Gomes

Corluka Dawson Bassong

Bale

Sandro THUDD

Pienaar Modric

van der Vaart

Suarez

fucking awes team imo

"jobs" (a hoy hoy), Wednesday, 12 January 2011 10:20 (fifteen years ago)

for next season when sandro has settled obv

"jobs" (a hoy hoy), Wednesday, 12 January 2011 10:20 (fifteen years ago)

Except we'll sell Bale in the summer, and Bale can't defend. And that centreback pairing is still ropey. And we'll still be playing Hutton at RB. And we won't sign Suarez. Apart from that, great.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 12 January 2011 10:22 (fifteen years ago)

yeah, all that

all i gotta do is akh nachivly (darraghmac), Wednesday, 12 January 2011 10:25 (fifteen years ago)

Ok ok- figuring that in-

              Gomes

Corluka Dawson Agger* Baines**

Sandro THUDD

Pienaar VDV Modric

Falcao***

Subs bench: Cudicini, Bassong, Hutton, Palacios, Lennon, Defoe, Adebayor

*available at a decent price imo
**available at a decent price, reliable as they come
***may cost a bit but if spurs need anything, its a goalhanging finisher type. cut price version is boselli from wigan imo, whose only quality (tap-ins) is the one spurs desperately need while wigan need a hard working type. One that will most probably get me shouted at: Torres.
^^^all would be paid for by Bale.

"jobs" (a hoy hoy), Wednesday, 12 January 2011 10:31 (fifteen years ago)

2010– Wigan Athletic 8 (0)

nakhchivan, Wednesday, 12 January 2011 10:32 (fifteen years ago)

defoe is one of the best (only?) 'goalhanging finisher types' in england

nakhchivan, Wednesday, 12 January 2011 10:33 (fifteen years ago)

Yeah Wigan aren't a type for tap-ins and need someone to break w/ Insomnia and teh Rod, while Spurs fans are going mental at not having a goalhanger for when Bale and Modric have already done the hardwork.

"jobs" (a hoy hoy), Wednesday, 12 January 2011 10:34 (fifteen years ago)

Thought you meant http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2009/02/24/article-1154562-009AF78B0000044C-21_233x323.jpg for a second.

Stevie T, Wednesday, 12 January 2011 10:35 (fifteen years ago)

It's not a goalhanger we need, it's a big physical forward. Defoe is more than just a goalhanger and he can do that job better than most in the Premiership, just doesn't have the height.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 12 January 2011 10:40 (fifteen years ago)

falcao is both.

"jobs" (a hoy hoy), Wednesday, 12 January 2011 10:42 (fifteen years ago)

Defoe has had a very disrupted season what with injuries and suspensions but given playing time he's worth 25 goals a season easily.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 12 January 2011 10:42 (fifteen years ago)

i have become such a nu-porto groupie.

"jobs" (a hoy hoy), Wednesday, 12 January 2011 10:43 (fifteen years ago)

falcao is like 5'9

nakhchivan, Wednesday, 12 January 2011 10:43 (fifteen years ago)

redknapp will probably go for someone like almeida or gomis

nakhchivan, Wednesday, 12 January 2011 10:43 (fifteen years ago)

still a strong muafucka though

"jobs" (a hoy hoy), Wednesday, 12 January 2011 10:44 (fifteen years ago)

nakhchivan, Wednesday, 12 January 2011 10:45 (fifteen years ago)

it is a better world imo

I was thinking of what Boselli did to make Wigan buy him and Falcao isn't that great on fm btw

"jobs" (a hoy hoy), Wednesday, 12 January 2011 11:07 (fifteen years ago)

Srs I thought everyone could tell my football knowledge comes from spending a quarter hour on 101gg a day and not from fm by now

"jobs" (a hoy hoy), Wednesday, 12 January 2011 11:07 (fifteen years ago)

however if you want knowledge in scouting regens

"jobs" (a hoy hoy), Wednesday, 12 January 2011 11:08 (fifteen years ago)

Just in case anyone's interesting
Doh. Must read own posts before posting.

Except we'll sell Bale in the summer
I hope you don't. Spurs have got a really good footballing team at the moment, it would be a shame to see it broken up.

Sepp Blatter quipped (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Wednesday, 12 January 2011 11:20 (fifteen years ago)

'arry won't let the club fall into ruin before he leaves, what about his reputation?

James Mitchell, Wednesday, 12 January 2011 11:26 (fifteen years ago)

spurs fwd line

Defoe-good finisher, also hits em from long range, cant hold it up and is the worse for bulking up and trying to do so. No good in the air, obv. Plays in and around box

Pav- drifts around outside box, better footballer than crouch or defoe, decent finisher and long range shot. Doesnt hold it up all that well despite size. O in air but not bothered

Crouch- cant shoot from distance, decent pass/touch, slow, cant hold it up, cant head it, finishing average. Teams plays longball despite it not suiting him. Plays in the hole, the fucking clown

Needed badly- gets in the box/plays off last man, wins aerial ball, plays with back to goal, can finish

all i gotta do is akh nachivly (darraghmac), Wednesday, 12 January 2011 11:44 (fifteen years ago)

Crouch is a better player with the ball at his feet than Pav but the problem with both is that they're just not regular enough finishers. Defoe is.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 12 January 2011 11:47 (fifteen years ago)

cant hold it up and is the worse for bulking up and trying to do so

I don't know where you get this from really - his hugely improved goalscoring form last season was a direct result of him bulking up. He got a lot better at holding defenders off while running with the ball, and several of his goals from last season just wouldn't have been scored without that. But yeah, lack of height is an issue and he's manifestly unsuited to being a loan striker sadly.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 12 January 2011 11:54 (fifteen years ago)

But yeah, his job shouldn't be to hold the ball up, it should be to turn the defender, run on goal and score and he does that better than most.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 12 January 2011 11:55 (fifteen years ago)

Arshavin's agent is talking about a possible move to Juve for £17m. Never gonna happen but times are slow.

"jobs" (a hoy hoy), Wednesday, 12 January 2011 11:58 (fifteen years ago)

"He's already burned out in Europe. It's not worth killing yourself through taking on an unrealistic workload."

James Mitchell, Wednesday, 12 January 2011 12:02 (fifteen years ago)

"...in England he has to apply himself every game. Andrey isn't ready for that."

Satantango! (Matt #2), Wednesday, 12 January 2011 12:07 (fifteen years ago)

a loan striker

Is that like a lone shark?

Sepp Blatter quipped (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Wednesday, 12 January 2011 12:13 (fifteen years ago)

i'm not sure defoe's goalscoring form has been hugely improved, matt- it's impossible to seperate it in his case. Being a first choice starter with a top four club makes a big difference too. Just personally feel defoe has lost pace and gained strength, and it's not his natural game. Debatable, though.

all i gotta do is akh nachivly (darraghmac), Wednesday, 12 January 2011 12:36 (fifteen years ago)

still no sign of this pienaar deal btw.

Craig bellamy arrested for assault btw

legerndrymayne (acoleuthic), Wednesday, 12 January 2011 18:38 (fifteen years ago)

Tinker Tailor Soulja Boy Tell 'Em (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 12 January 2011 18:41 (fifteen years ago)

fair in certain regards. You'd need to totally disregard work ethic and consistency, mind
