Whoa, I think those are pretty cool, and they give me a ton of ideas. Reminds me a little of the bonus DVD that came with the Dead Texan album a while back that had little animations blending with each other. Only this guy or gal has a bit of a narrative going.

It would take forever but it would be neat to try a really high quality 1-minute short with tons of frames for each separate animated element.

hey Z S what do you do to "make a gif more lossy thus making it a smaller file size" btw i use this stupid program called ULead Animated Gif Maker 5 so maybe thats my problem

i pretty much just use photoshop, and when you save gifs in photoshop there's a whole window full of options...lemme get a screenshot...

so obv the "lossy" slider is a big factor (0 to 100), but the number of colors makes a big difference too, and the dither. I had dither at 0 in that screenshot, but if I would have had it at 100 that would have been the "max" quality. Whereas lossy at 100, dither at 0, and colors at like 4 or 8 is pretty much the bare minimum.

i've noticed that a lot of people's "thing" on tumblr is to turn the quality all the way down on everything. like, here's an ultra-lossy version of something i posted earlier today:

can i open existing animated gifs in photoshop?

nope. it'll just open them up as one frame. so if you want to mess around with an existing animated gif in photoshop you have to split the frames up into separate images using another program and then import them into photoshop, one layer at a time. it's a giant pain in the ass and everytime photoshop comes out with a new version i really hope they address it.

that's Double Tents by Paul Klee (1923), and I hope to head to my local library soon to pick up a book of his stuff because I love it! He apparently helped to develop a lot of modern color theory.

you should ask abbbottt that! i just mentioned it because i know she's interested in color theory and is pretty much a pro. i, on the other hand, am the kind of person who needs to take 15-20 seconds to remember what color red and blue combine to create.

I am trying to get into this too. Ppl have told me to start w/ Albers' "Interaction of Color"

Absolutely loving the real deal pyramids one.
