She looked like Olivia Newton John

VegemiteGrrrl, Sunday, 9 January 2011 22:43 (fifteen years ago)

Black Swan reminded me of the old Kids in the Hall skit w kevin as a ballerina...

dan selzer, Monday, 10 January 2011 00:33 (fifteen years ago)

Hahah yes

VegemiteGrrrl, Monday, 10 January 2011 00:34 (fifteen years ago)

This is the second time I saw SNL do a joke about Cameo. Like some dude on the writing staff must think Cameo was like the funniest group or something

Whiney G. Weingarten, Tuesday, 11 January 2011 06:27 (fifteen years ago)

Also the black keys drummer is worse than Meg White, what the everliving fuck

Whiney G. Weingarten, Tuesday, 11 January 2011 07:01 (fifteen years ago)

i do not like them

VegemiteGrrrl, Tuesday, 11 January 2011 14:51 (fifteen years ago)

tbf Cameo was pretty funny

some dude, Tuesday, 11 January 2011 14:54 (fifteen years ago)

Also the black keys drummer is worse than Meg White, what the everliving fuck

Okay, dude, i can 100% see that Black Keys are the type of thing you would hate, but that dude is actually a fantastic drummer. I didn't see the SNL performance, so maybe he just sucked complete ass that night, but calling him worse than Meg White is SO RONG.

one pretty obvious guy in the obvious (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Tuesday, 11 January 2011 15:07 (fifteen years ago)

Also, is Meg the "worst" drummer comparison point? Hmm, wonder why?

Mark G, Wednesday, 12 January 2011 13:29 (fifteen years ago)

dude is so stiff and wooden. he looks terrified of the drums on every beat. you can see him lunging his body on the "one" so he doesn't fuck up an miss it. I'm not even sure he's holding his sticks right

http://www.hulu.com/watch/205727/saturday-night-live-the-black-keys-howlin-for-you

and what moron brings the floor tom over to the left side to play it like a hi-hat? there's a perefectly good floor tom to your right, and lots of room for that one to go if you wanted to have two and know how to play drums.

Whiney G. Weingarten, Wednesday, 12 January 2011 13:35 (fifteen years ago)

xpost

Because she's like the drummer with the highest "terrible" to "being incredibly famous" quotient?

Whiney G. Weingarten, Wednesday, 12 January 2011 13:36 (fifteen years ago)

While I agree that Meg White is technically a poor drummer, her style is so essential to the sound of The White Stripes that I have a hard time hearing those songs in my head with an imaginary, more proficient drummer.

Dr. (Johnny Fever), Wednesday, 12 January 2011 14:34 (fifteen years ago)

I agree 100%

Whiney G. Weingarten, Wednesday, 12 January 2011 14:36 (fifteen years ago)

Black Keys could def use a good drummer tho. And good songs.

Whiney G. Weingarten, Wednesday, 12 January 2011 14:37 (fifteen years ago)

I agree 100% also.

All's well.

Mark G, Wednesday, 12 January 2011 14:48 (fifteen years ago)

haha Whiney i think you and i should collaborate on some kind piece of writing about lousy drummers and why they suck

men are from mars, bruno has no penis (some dude), Wednesday, 12 January 2011 18:33 (fifteen years ago)

it seriously is depressing to me how shitty indie rock drummers are in 2010, but that's another thread

I Lost A COGHdrop in His Pato (Whiney G. Weingarten), Wednesday, 12 January 2011 18:39 (fifteen years ago)

start a thread! wd read, imo

VegemiteGrrrl, Wednesday, 12 January 2011 18:51 (fifteen years ago)

Dr. (Johnny Fever), Sunday, 16 January 2011 05:02 (fifteen years ago)

J0rdan S., Sunday, 16 January 2011 05:08 (fifteen years ago)

Reminded me of that sketch from The State:

"I took #2 from every dumb-dumb in this mickey fickey neighborhood today."

Zsa Zsa Gay Bar (jaymc), Sunday, 16 January 2011 05:13 (fifteen years ago)

love that sketch

mizzell, Sunday, 16 January 2011 05:30 (fifteen years ago)

Ocean Billy, Jon Bovi, IT'S NOT FUNNY, SUDEKIS!

Pleasant Plains, Sunday, 16 January 2011 19:53 (fifteen years ago)

Is it just me, or did Cee-Lo have better timing than pretty much everyone in the cast?

Son of Sisyphus of Reaganing (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Sunday, 16 January 2011 20:00 (fifteen years ago)

Cee-Lo is SHORT.

I thought the opening "civility" skit on Fox wasn't bad

curmudgeon, Sunday, 16 January 2011 22:07 (fifteen years ago)

Great episode!

polyphonic, Monday, 17 January 2011 05:52 (fifteen years ago)

Vanessa Bayer was great in the Bar Mitzvah sketch. Hope they don't turn her into Kristen Wiig 2, though.

Gay for Johnny Moped (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Monday, 17 January 2011 06:00 (fifteen years ago)

I don't think that's possible; Wiig had semi-annoying one-note "characters" (Target Lady, Surprise Lady) right out of the gate, while Bayer just has (the admittedly diminishing returns of) Miley Cyrus, plus what appears to be vast untapped potential.

Son of Sisyphus of Reaganing (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Monday, 17 January 2011 06:32 (fifteen years ago)

would tap that potential am i right

J0rdan S., Monday, 17 January 2011 06:35 (fifteen years ago)

feels really weird to see a 77er say 'tap' instead of 'smash'

Alex Da Dad (some dude), Monday, 17 January 2011 13:55 (fifteen years ago)

Sometimes, a tap is all you need to win the point.

I thought it was a pretty terrible episode, but really liked the Globe Theater sketch.

Anybody remember their skit "Thank you for coming to Loewes, sit back relax, 100 more previews and we've locked the doors"?

dan selzer, Wednesday, 19 January 2011 15:39 (fifteen years ago)

pat from the keys is a fantastic drummer.

Moonlight Graham (chrisv2010), Wednesday, 19 January 2011 15:44 (fifteen years ago)
