everything the naysayers said about him was true, that he's negative, that he can't win away, that he's not proven at top level.

― I see what this is (Local Garda), Wednesday, 5 January 2011 20:52 (3 minutes ago)

that was obviously true, he wasn't a success at inter, but if he wasn't appointed then the other choices were similarly unproven

max bro'd (nakhchivan), Wednesday, 5 January 2011 20:57 (fifteen years ago)

de jong tryin to get a second booking for encroaching on a corner kick? Fuckin clown.

all i gotta do is akh nachivly (darraghmac), Wednesday, 5 January 2011 20:59 (fifteen years ago)

Sorry Arsenal, you're great but there's only one game to be watching for the rest of the evening

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 5 January 2011 21:00 (fifteen years ago)

am taking a couple of co-codamol to get thru the next half hour

Shanty! Shanti! Shanté! (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 5 January 2011 21:01 (fifteen years ago)

city not afraid of launching into tackles in the box, all good so far but can see a peno happening

all i gotta do is akh nachivly (darraghmac), Wednesday, 5 January 2011 21:01 (fifteen years ago)

just to be clear, liverpool got 63 points last year. to beat that they'd have win 13 out of 18 games after tonight. they lost 11 games last year and unless they rescue this tonight it's 9 lost already this season.

x-post fair point nakh, i'm not saying it was a bad appointment, just that you know, it hasn't worked out. good luck to roy but i don't have a huge deal of sympathy for managers, they get huge payoffs.

I see what this is (Local Garda), Wednesday, 5 January 2011 21:02 (fifteen years ago)

just a thought for lg....would u rather finish 17th this season and 4th next, or 5th this season and 5th next?

not thinking abt managers here necessarily

max bro'd (nakhchivan), Wednesday, 5 January 2011 21:03 (fifteen years ago)

no he's not. "about as well"=way lower points total. rafa would never lose at home to wolves/blackpool etc.

In fairness, against the teams that finished bottom five last season, Liverpool lost to Portsmouth and Wigan and drew with Hull. Wolves are the only current bottom five team Woy's dropped points against as Liverpool manager.

I was in Currys today and the HD tellys were all replaying that night in Istanbul, which I like to think is some kind of sign

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 5 January 2011 21:04 (fifteen years ago)

great strike from rvp saved well by hart, two of the top 100 players in world football there

all i gotta do is akh nachivly (darraghmac), Wednesday, 5 January 2011 21:05 (fifteen years ago)

rvp has such a nice striking technique

that is a football reference etc

max bro'd (nakhchivan), Wednesday, 5 January 2011 21:06 (fifteen years ago)

we competed with Liverpool at Anfield for 45 minutes last season too, only got beat after Ward got himself stupidly sent off. Held them to a draw at Molineux playing well again.

Shanty! Shanti! Shanté! (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 5 January 2011 21:06 (fifteen years ago)

city playin with 11 behind the ball, fuck this noise

"jobs" (a hoy hoy), Wednesday, 5 January 2011 21:08 (fifteen years ago)

fucking hell I think Grant might yet make it out the door before Woy does

all i gotta do is akh nachivly (darraghmac), Wednesday, 5 January 2011 21:09 (fifteen years ago)

this is like watching ireland (man city) play a big euro superpower

hard question nakh...i can't really answer out of context, and things like how much money is made available by the neo yanks would be a factor.

btw leon best hat trick wtf

x-post to nv not saying rafa wouldn't do badly at anfield, i just feel there's a vulnerability there since roy came that is at a far more serious level than it was when it first seeped in last year under raf

x-post to sam if you think obvious trolling is clever why don't you just start denying the holocaust or something.

I see what this is (Local Garda), Wednesday, 5 January 2011 21:10 (fifteen years ago)

also just had my brother say he might throw me out for suggesting that jose mourinho may be a better tactician than 'arry, even after my brother made the point that real lost to barca.

"jobs" (a hoy hoy), Wednesday, 5 January 2011 21:10 (fifteen years ago)

Newcastle goal: A night to remember for Leon Best, who completes his hat-trick

the term, i believe, is 'lol'

max bro'd (nakhchivan), Wednesday, 5 January 2011 21:11 (fifteen years ago)

sam, when ppl cant tell yr posting from yr 'trolling' it's a problem

all i gotta do is akh nachivly (darraghmac), Wednesday, 5 January 2011 21:11 (fifteen years ago)

Alan Pardew in at Liverpool, everyone's a winner.

Inspector Anthony Slade, Wednesday, 5 January 2011 21:11 (fifteen years ago)

never said it was clever. just want to add some gunpowder to the fireworks display put on for woy's send off

"jobs" (a hoy hoy), Wednesday, 5 January 2011 21:12 (fifteen years ago)

xpost

yeah in all honesty I don't think there's anything to indicate Rafa would've done worse at Liverpool than he did last season, but I do think it was time for a change.

And there's the third Blackburn goal.

Shanty! Shanti! Shanté! (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 5 January 2011 21:12 (fifteen years ago)

cunt

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 5 January 2011 21:12 (fifteen years ago)

ah come on, woy failed, we can all enjoy the scouse revolt

"jobs" (a hoy hoy), Wednesday, 5 January 2011 21:12 (fifteen years ago)

West Ham wiping out their favourable (in bottom 5 terms) goal difference in one match. Kind of amazing that Blackpool are only five points off the bottom of the current table.

onimo, Wednesday, 5 January 2011 21:13 (fifteen years ago)

Best made his first Premier League start for Newcastle against West Ham United on 5 January 2011, scoring 90 goals in the process, his first goals for the club

joran van der snood (cozen), Wednesday, 5 January 2011 21:13 (fifteen years ago)

just think liverpool fanz should adjust to thinking about next season and the need to get back in the cl

they will end this season in midtable whatever happens, roy will almost certainly leave before next season.....but it's after that where thing really get difficult, liverpool surely need cl money but with city and spurs resurgent it's a lot harder than it was during the rafa 'big four' years....

max bro'd (nakhchivan), Wednesday, 5 January 2011 21:13 (fifteen years ago)

Q. Has Hodgson done himself more damage in the last 5 months than he's done to Liverpool?

Shanty! Shanti! Shanté! (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 5 January 2011 21:13 (fifteen years ago)

rip dimatteo and eyebrow too

"jobs" (a hoy hoy), Wednesday, 5 January 2011 21:14 (fifteen years ago)

on any other night wolves 1 0 chelsea would be quite the story

all i gotta do is akh nachivly (darraghmac), Wednesday, 5 January 2011 21:14 (fifteen years ago)

and avram

tomorrow is going to be phil mcnulty overload of joy

"jobs" (a hoy hoy), Wednesday, 5 January 2011 21:15 (fifteen years ago)

rafa wouldn't have done worse and hell, could have got them back playing again. but i agree, rafa had become frustrating. roy hasn't brought any real change though.

this season is a write off imo. and it's going to be incredibly hard to get back into the CL. the thing i cling to is the fact the club makes a lot of money and is now debt free. there should be money there.

I see what this is (Local Garda), Wednesday, 5 January 2011 21:15 (fifteen years ago)

SHHHHHH THERE'S 15 HOURS TO GO YET IN MY HEAD

City look to be struggling more than most teams with Arsenal's short passing, like a one-twos is some amazing new trick they've never seen before.

onimo, Wednesday, 5 January 2011 21:15 (fifteen years ago)

Q. Has Hodgson done himself more damage in the last 5 months than he's done to Liverpool?

Depends. His record at international level pretty much speaks for itself, any third tier European nations (Belgium, Israel, Ireland) could do a lot worse than take him on board as gaffer, see if he can repeat his Switzerland exploits.

Inspector Anthony Slade, Wednesday, 5 January 2011 21:15 (fifteen years ago)

spurs have 4th locked if they get a winner imo.

"jobs" (a hoy hoy), Wednesday, 5 January 2011 21:16 (fifteen years ago)

apparently Bale has broeken tho

Shanty! Shanti! Shanté! (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 5 January 2011 21:16 (fifteen years ago)

onimo well said....arsenal playing triangles a lot of the first half

anyway i don't think there's a huge difference between liverpool finishing 5th or 15th, either way they miss out on cl and torres (and maybe others) leave

max bro'd (nakhchivan), Wednesday, 5 January 2011 21:16 (fifteen years ago)

who will be next pool manager? surely they aren't stupid enough to give it to dalgleish?

"jobs" (a hoy hoy), Wednesday, 5 January 2011 21:17 (fifteen years ago)

rvp is alright just a heavy landing

max bro'd (nakhchivan), Wednesday, 5 January 2011 21:17 (fifteen years ago)

3-0

Davek (davek_00), Wednesday, 5 January 2011 21:18 (fifteen years ago)

I think I said ages ago that as long as Rafa got them in the CL each season I don't think the yanks gave a shit if they were 1st or 4th. This probably holds true of most of the clubs in with a shout of a top 4 finish?

Shanty! Shanti! Shanté! (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 5 January 2011 21:18 (fifteen years ago)

15th/midtable is NOT the worst-case scenario here ffs

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 5 January 2011 21:18 (fifteen years ago)

what about bale?

Ps england fit into that international insp slade

all i gotta do is akh nachivly (darraghmac), Wednesday, 5 January 2011 21:18 (fifteen years ago)
