Speaking of suburbs, there is a two-page advertisement for Bolingbrook in this week's Time Out Chicago. It mentions the IKEA, the new mall, and about a dozen restaurants that weren't there at all when I lived there. I'm afraid I'd barely recognize the place if I went back.

Chicago's shortest streets (some of the writing in this article is pretty bad but it's still interesting)

Wow! We were a million miles away from Chicago. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&time=&date=&ttype=&q=winestyles+20290+lagrange+rd,+frankfort+il&ie=UTF8&lr=lang_en&cd=1&ll=41.717005,-87.488251&spn=0.447956,0.933838&z=10&om=1
Like Courtney said, it was a good thing that they gave each of her employees a free bottle of wine and free dinner, cuz it would have pissed a lot of people off to drive that far for a tasting of 5 wines at a chain wine retailer.

I just typed in someone named McGee, and it made me think of McG, that music video director who did Fastball - The Way and some Sugar Ray videos. Remember him? I feel like he actually made a full length movie too, but I don't know anything about that.

One of the people I was out to dinner with last night is a vet tech, and when I showered her a phone pic of my cats she said "oh, a girl and a boy?" And I asked her how the hell she knew that, thinking it was some vet school thing about the facial ratios or something. She told me about the calico thing, and then goes "and the other one just looks like a boy!"

omg evil kitty was SO SWEET this morning. Purry and cozy and very very soft and warm. Really everything you want in a cat, and nothing you don't.

it doesn't really make sense to get a cat yet since we don't know when/if we'll go back to london. and if we do, it would suck to have to put a new pet through the crazy quarantine!

I finally figured out where my cat left that rogue turd one day while she was mad at me. I lived with it for days before that, though. Lots of febreeze and window opening. Really kind of a nightmare.

Quick Bitch I just discovered another coworker who is pissed at me for being out yesterday. Male Coworker comes to my desk and asks me where he can find some checks for some draw he's working on and I don't know where they are kept for that project, so he heads to Accountant. Accountant calls me from her desk telling me it doesn't exist and all those checks came out of another common file and I should get them there. BUT he's at her desk at the very back of the office AND the files are in the drawer BESIDE her desk in alphabetical order... So then he comes all the way up to the front and hands me the same paper again. Then I go to the very back to her desk while she's sitting there and take out the two pieces he needs and go and copy them.

I do similar things around here sometimes, but usually b/c it's easier for me to just get something than to explain where it is, and possibly have my directions be met with confusion and more questions.
(The answer to "where is ________ document?" is more often than not, "On J's coffee table" or "Under J's desk.")
xpost- I liked that point-counterpoint a lot

She knew they were there though right beside her. It would have taken her 5 seconds to grab them out! I wouldn't have minded getting them if I knew they were there in the first place. She was just being deliberately annoying.
