The GPS chip in the iPhone isn't as good as those in a full on GPS. I've read it's not as sensitive and suffers from a small antenna so you pick up fewer satellites and get lower resolution, this is all to save power. You can get a sleeve from magellan which dramatically improves on the GPS performance but I think you have to use their app.
That said, I think the start stop on the garmin will default to the speed/cadence sensor if you have one.

Two people on the bus this morning asked me if I had had any trouble with my alarm clock, but I hadn't. Don't know why. One said his failed yesterday, the other said hers didn't go off today. Or was late. I forget.

Something really annoying on iPad though: I want to share that embedded video but Safari for iPad gives you no way of getting to the YouTube page to get e URL.

Or typing properly,..
Searching app store for Find My Iphone, typed in 'find my' and the second entry to pop up was 'find sex offenders for free!'. Well that's a must have.

The clock on my IPod Touch often ends up five minutes behind the actual time. Why is this happening, and how do I fix it?
― Christine Green Leafy Dragon Indigo, Thursday, 3 February 2011 22:46 (fifteen years ago)
shit that happens to my girl's phone, too.
oh internet i love you. every tech problem anyone's had, someone had it beforedon't know if this is right but it sounds plausible:
To try to solve this issue, follow these steps:1. Disconnect your iPod from the computer.2. Ensure the time and date on the computer is correct.3. In iTunes, go to Edit > Preferences > Devices.4. Under Device Backups, select your device in the list.5. Click Remove Backup.6. Close iTunes.7. Reopen iTunes. Reconnect the iPod Touch or iPhone.
A new backup should be created and should solve the issue.

WiFi Photo Transfer! It gives you a URL which links to your Camera Roll, from which you can wirelessly transfer photos and videos to your computer. And the link doesn't work on others' computers, somehow.

― Sheneneh et Caro (Stevie D(eux)), Wednesday, 16 March 2011 06:31 (fifteen years ago)
Only one I've used is TeamViewer. Seemed to do the job OK, and is free.
― Alba, Wednesday, 16 March 2011 07:14 (fifteen years ago)
Yeah, we use Team Viewer at work and it does the job pretty well.

― Night Nurse with Wound (Jack Battery-Pack), Wednesday, 16 March 2011 08:53 (fifteen years ago)

― Sheneneh et Caro (Stevie D(eux)), Wednesday, 16 March 2011 16:02 (fifteen years ago)
ITeleport is the best. Not free though.
― Jeff, Wednesday, 16 March 2011 16:07 (fifteen years ago)
The paid version of TeamViewer is $99, which shocked me until I realized that the free one is identical but intended only for personal use.

KEY RING
― The Scenario (chrisv2010), Wednesday, 16 March 2011 16:57 (fifteen years ago)
Whoa, key ring sounds waaaay unsecure, esp if one is unwise enough to use their lock screen passcode as their KeyRing passcode. Also it's incredibly easy to figure out someone's passcode by watching them type it, much more than a keyboard.
― Sheneneh et Caro (Stevie D(eux)), Wednesday, 16 March 2011 17:06 (fifteen years ago)

I tried it and the scanners at two grocery stores wouldn't recognize the bar codes, and I tried for a long time. Sad.
― Jesse, Wednesday, 16 March 2011 17:29 (fifteen years ago)
Oh yeah, that sounds like the same thing as CardStar. It won't scan at the reg and they have to type in your barcode #'s and you look like a pretentious asshole.
― Sheneneh et Caro (Stevie D(eux)), Wednesday, 16 March 2011 17:32 (fifteen years ago)

Just got Simplenote and it looks like it might be amazing.
― Jesse, Thursday, 24 March 2011 15:13 (fifteen years ago)
I use it occasionally. Should probably use more. My #1 productivity app these days is 2Do. Dumped Remember the Milk because got tired of paying for the service and the 2Do app is better in general. Also syncs with MobileMe tasks.
Also using Evernote more these days.
― Jeff, Thursday, 24 March 2011 15:25 (fifteen years ago)

― just woke up (lukas), Thursday, 24 March 2011 15:48 (fifteen years ago)
Yeah I really really need a good to do/grocery list/checklist/on-the-fly mixtape idea/note taking app but I refuse to pay, like, 6.99 for one. Simplenote, then?
― mink della reese (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 24 March 2011 15:50 (fifteen years ago)
Also I really have no need to sync to other computers or devices so idk if i'm missing the point?
― mink della reese (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 24 March 2011 15:51 (fifteen years ago)
i was going to make a joke about my life revolving around note-taking but now that i think about it ...

simplenote will do that well, yeah
― just woke up (lukas), Thursday, 24 March 2011 15:52 (fifteen years ago)
turn off web syncing if you don't need it i guess. seems dangerous, no backups.
― just woke up (lukas), Thursday, 24 March 2011 15:55 (fifteen years ago)

― mink della reese (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 24 March 2011 15:57 (fifteen years ago)
I don't know how involved you all are with your lists, but ShopShop works well for me.
It saves all my data on a "back" screen, so I don't have to re-enter every item of my grocery list each week.
I can move items up and down the list, in the order I want them.
And I can check the items off as I go, eventually (hopefully) returning to an empty slate by the time I reach the register.
I've taken quick notes on the fly before too, though I wouldn't suggest using it for that.
