Zubar last season was a better RB than Hutton by far, can actually defend plus decent creative outlet and stamina to bomb up and down all game. Obv if he hadn't been injured for the first chunk of this season he'd've been a lock.

John Terry will be disappointed he wasn't included as one of the year's best attacking midfielders. I'm disappointed he didn't die in a fire.

I thought this was really good, especially the winners-to-hangers-on ratio bit. This sort of thing makes me think Roy should stay and really have a go because I hate it when teams start to change then back out immediately, but:

• it's only the briefing behind this that suggests Roy gets it; and
• the Wolves game genuinely was as bad as it gets

I'm clinging to the hope that Bolton underestimate us and play their nice passing game whilst neglecting to close us down etc. However if we defend as deep as we have been against the Elmander/Davies combo then I really will start to completely despair.

would only be worse statistically, Wigan at least play well when they beat you. Wolves were at best competent, and Liverpool won't get an easier game than that the rest of the season. Coming off the 1-3 against Newcastle, who were also absolutely rubbish, it can only get better or stay as bad, there isn't a worse from here

tbh I take exception to some of this. Yeah Liverpool were poor, and we have v. few genuinely exciting players, but on Wednesday night we did what we've done for a lot of the season - kept the ball well, pressed, played pass and go. If Meireles had scored his sitter in the first half it would've been a different game no doubt - McCarthy never seems to have a Plan B. But we're in the middle of an injury crisis ourselves and still trying to play football with a youngish squad and some positional deficiencies. So you know, at best competent was still good enough to get a FAIRLY FUCKING COMFORTABLE win at Anfield, soz.

that's kind of my point though. I'm sure Wolves can play better than that - they certainly keep showing a bit of fight every week that you had the luxury of keeping in the locker on Wednesday

i saw bolton against chelsea and i've seen them a few times this season. they don't actually look like one of those midtable sides playing good football and on a good run. they're still comprised mostly of strong, controlledly aggressive players (paul robinson being the sole concession to wanton violence) and they have a lot of purpose and no fear. they are a better team than liverpool this season.

West Brom well on top here. Cut Utd open on numerous occasions and bossing the midfield. Anderson has been great the last few weeks but not getting much joy today. Of course Utd are going to end up winning this 3-1. Sigh.

It is hard to understand why a manager as supposedly shrewd as Ferguson keeps putting him on the pitch, even if it is only occasionally.

The only way Utd will really impress will be if they win the league whilst winning just once away from home. That would be truly outstanding.
Also don't know if I can muster the energy to search for a stream of the Liverpool game later. Actually I've decided I can't. Oh look Utd are winning. 2011 has a 2010 feel about it.
