While watching Affleck do pull-ups in The Town I realized I still have a weird crush on him.

Anyway, ENBB: the Run's House scene is my hands-down favorite moment from Dogma, and that's saying alot bc I LOVE that movie. His little stutter dance step at the end is LOL and awesome.

it's a source of great sadness to me that i never got to see "matt and ben"

horseshoe, Wednesday, 29 December 2010 04:31 (fifteen years ago)

and introduce myself to mindy kaling afterwards and become her bff

horseshoe, Wednesday, 29 December 2010 04:31 (fifteen years ago)

kind of off-topic i guess.

matt damon also got cuter over time imo.

horseshoe, Wednesday, 29 December 2010 04:32 (fifteen years ago)

Where's the wit and wisdom of Armond White?

Gus Van Sotosyn (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 29 December 2010 04:35 (fifteen years ago)

i was talking to friends abt True Grit and then about how much i like matt damon and apparently this was news to them! like i was all out of character for me! or maybe just out of character for me to actually care abt a celeb. but dudes this guy was freakin Jason Bourne AND is also hilarious. i think he has the best smile in hollywood.

ok now i will read this thread

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Wednesday, 29 December 2010 04:35 (fifteen years ago)

rrrobyn otm. Matt Damon, best smile in Hollywood. More than a smile. It's like a drop-your-pants-high-beam-of-awesome.

Sorry. The Krush Groove thing got me all carried away.

Square-Panted Sponge Robert (VegemiteGrrrl), Wednesday, 29 December 2010 04:37 (fifteen years ago)

i was lying about the mittens

kanellos (gbx), Wednesday, 29 December 2010 04:42 (fifteen years ago)

but i did see matt and ben. my friend and i threw roses. no one else did.

kanellos (gbx), Wednesday, 29 December 2010 04:42 (fifteen years ago)

aw! also jealous

horseshoe, Wednesday, 29 December 2010 04:43 (fifteen years ago)

I don't see Damon playing great sociopaths, as he was a black hole at the center of the utterly misguided Talented Mr Ripley.

Anyway, True Grit is the first time I've liked him in eons, tho I tend to skip anything where he's the lead (Bournes, Green Zone etc).

his best comedic roles (The Informant, 30 Rock, Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back, even the Ocean's movies really, etc.)

You left out the only one I like, Stuck on You.

kind of shrill and very self-righteous (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 29 December 2010 04:44 (fifteen years ago)

morbs and i agree

not about the only part, but that it's a funny movie

kanellos (gbx), Wednesday, 29 December 2010 04:49 (fifteen years ago)

probably the most consistent hwood star of the 00s in terms of quality of projects

jeezus, like what? I think it was the combo of Good Shepherd and Informant that resolved me never to see a 'Matt Damon picture' again.

kind of shrill and very self-righteous (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 29 December 2010 04:50 (fifteen years ago)

tho I saw Inside Job today, so I guess I paid to see a Matt Damon souped-up PowerPoint presentation.

kind of shrill and very self-righteous (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 29 December 2010 04:51 (fifteen years ago)

thought you saw movies for free

kanellos (gbx), Wednesday, 29 December 2010 04:52 (fifteen years ago)

You Left Out The Only One I Like

Potential collected-works title.

would like a calmer set (Eazy), Wednesday, 29 December 2010 04:52 (fifteen years ago)

they didnt send me that one, nor did I get to an awards screening. xp

but to answer the thread question, I'd fuck him.

kind of shrill and very self-righteous (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 29 December 2010 04:53 (fifteen years ago)

oh i forgot abt Inside Job! also lol porn title.
tho tbh he's not so much a WS to me as a would hang out and talk abt the world with (and bask in the sunlight of his smile obv)

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Wednesday, 29 December 2010 04:57 (fifteen years ago)

I admire him for taking the narrating job for a film that points out what a phony our prez is, which means the sucking-Obama's-dick limo lib crowd might be pissed at him for awhile.

kind of shrill and very self-righteous (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 29 December 2010 05:00 (fifteen years ago)

even his dick has a limo

iatee, Wednesday, 29 December 2010 05:04 (fifteen years ago)

I think I've established my position on the WS Matt Damon question pretty clearly ITT but in case there's any doubt: I'm definitely for it.

Square-Panted Sponge Robert (VegemiteGrrrl), Wednesday, 29 December 2010 05:33 (fifteen years ago)

Oh and Stuck On You is great. I forgot that one.

Square-Panted Sponge Robert (VegemiteGrrrl), Wednesday, 29 December 2010 05:33 (fifteen years ago)

lol suck on u

plax (ico), Wednesday, 29 December 2010 09:22 (fifteen years ago)

Outside of the Ocean's movies I can't think of many, if any, movies starring him that I've seen. (File under: "I know, right?")

Want to see True Grit, though.

Cunga, Wednesday, 29 December 2010 09:37 (fifteen years ago)

dick limo!

BIG SANTA aka the sleighdriver (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 29 December 2010 10:22 (fifteen years ago)

You ppl don't even know how to read hyphens and modifiers, no wonder you think those Ocean's donuts are "movies"

kind of shrill and very self-righteous (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 29 December 2010 12:26 (fifteen years ago)

lol @ u!

plax (ico), Wednesday, 29 December 2010 16:14 (fifteen years ago)

<3 srsly!

plax (ico), Wednesday, 29 December 2010 16:14 (fifteen years ago)

"i'm not sure that was his rationale but assuming it was, has anyone else taken that route?"

Redford, I guess, but I guess you could make the argument he's a pretty mediocre director too (not that I think Affleck is any great shakes at this point.)

Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 29 December 2010 16:35 (fifteen years ago)

"I don't see Damon playing great sociopaths, as he was a black hole at the center of the utterly misguided Talented Mr Ripley."

Yeah that was a crappy adaptation.

Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 29 December 2010 16:37 (fifteen years ago)

rlly? i have never read any highsmith but that seemed like kindof a good movie?

plax (ico), Wednesday, 29 December 2010 16:40 (fifteen years ago)

would blap

the bear in the bumper car (rip van wanko), Wednesday, 29 December 2010 17:41 (fifteen years ago)

TMR is a good movie and one of damon's best roles. not read highsmith but it's in the same class as the other highsmith adaptations i've seen, wenders's and hitchcock's.

moholy-nagl (history mayne), Wednesday, 29 December 2010 17:43 (fifteen years ago)

you should watch the 2003 one with Malkovich.

Gus Van Sotosyn (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 29 December 2010 17:44 (fifteen years ago)

im disappointed that al doesnt have a pithy nickname for talented mr ripley

max, Wednesday, 29 December 2010 17:45 (fifteen years ago)

you guys should read highsmith she rules!

horseshoe, Wednesday, 29 December 2010 17:45 (fifteen years ago)

i don't really like talented mr. ripley but maybe it's good as a movie apart from its failure to capture the novel

horseshoe, Wednesday, 29 December 2010 17:46 (fifteen years ago)

at the time i thought damon was pretty bad in it

horseshoe, Wednesday, 29 December 2010 17:46 (fifteen years ago)

yeah horseshoe otm those books are great and creepy, there are not enough novels about sociopaths these days imo

max, Wednesday, 29 December 2010 17:46 (fifteen years ago)

Not really: Ripley doesn't make sense as a character. But I liked the supporting cast though.

Gus Van Sotosyn (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 29 December 2010 17:47 (fifteen years ago)

xp to horseshoe

Gus Van Sotosyn (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 29 December 2010 17:47 (fifteen years ago)

i liked tmr, i will say this about gwenyth too, she is a babe

max, Wednesday, 29 December 2010 17:47 (fifteen years ago)

i remember gwyneth and jude law a lot more than i remember damon's performance from that movie

horseshoe, Wednesday, 29 December 2010 17:48 (fifteen years ago)

cate blanchett is a babe

gwyn, she's ok

moholy-nagl (history mayne), Wednesday, 29 December 2010 17:48 (fifteen years ago)

i will say, blanchett and law in that movie make paltrow and damon look very normal persony. paltrow is so pretty in general though; she looks kind of whatever in that movie, maybe that's part of why i didn't like it.

horseshoe, Wednesday, 29 December 2010 17:50 (fifteen years ago)

On the other hand TMR was pretty bold about its homosexual subject matter, and I remember the audience uncomfortably rustling when Damon asks Law if he can join him in the tub.

Gus Van Sotosyn (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 29 December 2010 17:50 (fifteen years ago)

but these days jude law looks like ass and matt damon is v cuet, so

horseshoe, Wednesday, 29 December 2010 17:51 (fifteen years ago)

looks a bit beefy to me but im not the target market i guess

poor jude and his hairline

moholy-nagl (history mayne), Wednesday, 29 December 2010 17:53 (fifteen years ago)
