I hope I'm the guy in the pic (not the guy holding the pic). He's super kewl. (And he doesn't wear that oh-so-gauche apron.)

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 19:56 (twenty-three years ago)

Two separate people say I look like a particular cartoon. And I sort of see why they say that. So I follow the image to its source and find out it's a teenage clone of Gandhi. This is the most depressing thing ever because I AM SICK OF PEOPLE SAYING I LOOK LIKE GANDHI. I do not look like Gandhi. I do not look like Ben Kingsley. I hate my high school chemistry teacher who called me Gandhi for three months straight because I wore sandals one time. I hate the guy from the White Hen in Evanston, IL who called me Gandhi over and over for like my last two years of college despite my getting really pissed off and telling him, verbatim, "stop fucking calling me Gandhi, you're just being a dick now." It started when I was 16 years old and I am afraid that by the time I'm 50 I will have fucking FOLLOWERS or something. I'm not even Indian and I'm not a particularly good person. I'm going to cry over here.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 23:02 (twenty-three years ago)

Slightly OT but now that we've got onto the subject, can I just ask what the deal is with the Gandhi character on Clone High? The others all seem to have some kind of similarity to their original - e.g. JFK's womanizing. Cleopatra's vanity. How is the Gandhi clone supposed to resemble Gandhi other than physically? Like, he's basically a goofily lovable tagalong loudmouth buffoon, right? And not especially self-sacrificing, pacifist, meditative, or leader-like, or even traditionalist, or anything that would remind me of Gandhi.

G-spot rocks the G-spot (sundar), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 23:59 (twenty-three years ago)

it's a young Gandhi

James Blount (James Blount), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 23:59 (twenty-three years ago)

Yeah I know but you'd think he'd still have some similar traits to the original, like the other characters do. Wasn't that the point, to see how their hangups fare in a high school setting?

sundar subramanian (sundar), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 00:03 (twenty-three years ago)

Their Joan of Arc character doesn't seem to resemble Joan in any fashion save for the tomboy thing. Real Joan would be fearless to a fault, a bit flaky too. The show is awful I think, for these and many other reasons.

Amateurist (amateurist), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 00:07 (twenty-three years ago)

Yeah I was thinking about her too but put it down to my not knowing that much about Joan of Arc.
