This is the very first time I saw this post by teeny:

Last night I had a dream that Dee the Lurker was M1ssy Lava11ee, a woman I used to trade mix tapes with back when I was in high school. I think she liked my zine or something; she lived in SF and I wanted to be part of the Gilman crowd at the time.

Wow. I made it into someone else's dream after a little less than a month of posting here. I did live in a suburb of SF for a short while (namely Pacifica), and almost half of my mom's family is from SF, but I lived there when I was a, um, teeny tyke, and I have yet to get into trading mix tapes with anyone. (And over here, knowing the people who post here, everything I have would probably already be owned by everyone else.)

But what does it all meeeeeaaaaaan?

I had a dream that I was standing in Battery Park City and ran into Sean C. I tried to explain to him where the Hoboken train station was in relation to where we were, and got frustrated that I couldn't find it. He was like, "Listen, it's ok, if I wanted to see it, I'd just go there and look at it" but I wouldn't take that for an answer and was being very belligerent about the greenness of the train station building.

I dreamed a friend of mine -- not a real friend, a made-up dream person -- contracted mxyomatosis by injecting a vial of Thom Yorke's blood. It was terrible. He convulsed and foamed, and we had to strap him to the bed, and he began to lose shape like the senator in the first X-Men movie. There was some tension as we waited for the antidote to arrive. But it did, finally, and he was ok. I told him not to inject any more Thom Yorke.

I had a dream last night that I went to see a dentist--he was a nice middle-aged guy in his mid-60s, it seemed, very kindly. Turns out he was really into Dizzee Rascal and talked about him non-stop during my appointment. Afterwards (still in the dream) I was all excited to tell everyone on ILX about it.

I just invented a vocalist in my dream. He's long dead now, and nearly forgotten, but was once a legend. He was of indeterminate race, kind of dark, but not quite Mexican. (He was the color of my uncle Melvin, actually.) He had a famous backing band that sounded almost like Reinhardt and Grapelli -- lovely guitar, lovely fiddle. Honey voice, with a bit of a twang. I think he was from Texas. And the songs -- genius. That was his real strength. He was the best songwriter this side of Gershwin. His biggest hit was called "Miss Lost," and they had some scratchy footage of it on a show called "Legends of Music" on Bravo, and I was fascinated, and thinking, holy Jesus, I gotta get some of this guys stuff.

And then I woke up.

Does it have to be about ILX? But other people talked about dreams that weren't ILX-related. (And what isn't, anyway?) I had very vivid, somewhat disturbed, dreams last night. A couple of them (or maybe it was one long confused one) involved looking for an apartment, or having moved into a new apartment. In one, outside my window, there was an old metal sculpture of some sort, depicting a horse's head (say, about half the size of a real horse's head). The head was partly covered by something like a hat, and I looked up, under that, to see if the horse's face continued past that point, which it did.

I wish I could see things in my mind even half as vividly as I sometimes do when I dream.

Kenan: d'you ever wonder how your brain can come up with such marvellous thngs? When I have such detailled original dreams I wonder if Ive in fact dreamt something real and I just dont conciously realise it... or maybe, like Ethan Hawke says in Waking Life, I'm plucking it out of the great collective unconcious... I dreamt the whole plot to a short story once. It was so amazing. And I still havent got round to finishing writing it, heh.

two weeks pass...

Had a lucid dream this afternoon. It was the weirdest thing. You know how you're not supposed to die in your dreams? Well, I got my head lopped off while fighting a particularly ugly Buffy demon. And so my head rolled away, but it was like, okay, I lost, on to the next scene. I was aware that it was a dream, and if I had been more experienced at navigating that weird lucid dream world, I would have kicked his ass, I just know it.

Waking up was also very weird. I had to concentrate to do it. And even then, I was for a minute simultaneously awake and still dreaming. I could see my hand on the pillow next to me, and I would move it in my brain, but I could see that in real life, it wasn't moving, so I had to concentrate until I could wiggle my fingers. And then slowly I came out of it.

Best nap EVER.

I dreamt last night that I was at a concert with a bunch of my high school friends and kept seeing this guy everywhere - running around talking to everyone and generally having a good time - no one would introduce me though, and I wanted to meet him 'cos he looked like fun, but then someone said 'hey Aimee, come on, we're about to have to go on, hurry up...' and rushed me toward the stage, and I was be pushed through a crowd of people, and by the time I got to where I could see everyone, the guy was gone. I kept asking everyone who he was, and no one would tell me until I found my German teacher, who said 'oh, that was nickalicious!'

I had my first post-FAP ILX dream. Me and JBR were watching Year Of The Horse on video. I was sitting on a couch and she was sitting really close to the TV with her head in her hands. After the movie was over there was footage of a Tibetan Freedom Concert on MTV. The Beastie Boys were making hilariously awkward faces and trying to play funk on slightly oversized instruments. When Eminem came out they suddenly started saying stuff like "HERE'S YOUR MIC, DICK!" and "AWWWW YEAH!" Then the TV cut to Eminem nervously noting that he didn't mind the verbal abuse from the Beasties because it meant they were still rowdy. Ad-Rock responded that he wished he'd painted a dirty word on Eminem's ear. Elvis Costello was there.

I was about to ask JBR "whaddya wanna do when the nachos run out?" but then I woke up.
