i can't compete w krakow, but glasgow green was beautiful and wintry today:

The sunset this afternoon was stupendous. I was cycling back from Coatbridge to the East End and had to pull over to watch it across the snow-covered fields and misty tenements in all its blazing red and orange glory. Wonderful.

I'm in Glasgow next week, hopefully. Looking forward to some wintry scenes!

Glasgow, I am up next weekend at kind of short notice. Not sure when I am available for a pint, but there will be an opportunity.

yay! There is a small football match on on Sunday, so not then.

Immediately after it (lunchtime kick off, no?) may be a time.

Pick a suitable (i.e. not rammed with numpties who are likely to beat me up) pub and that sounds like a plan.

Suggestions for where would be good welcomed. I will be in town from about 1300, so somewhere I can get a nice lunch as well would be of benefit. Shame West Beer shut, that might have been a good plan.

I'm sure somebody will say NOT MONO at some point.

I suspect anywhere on the east side of Glasgow will be rammed with people coming back from Celtic Park, and anywhere with a telly will be rammed full stop. Mono or the Note might actually be an option at this point due to lack of telly, but this entirely depends if your idea of a nice lunch involves tofu.

Not walking through Bridgeton after an OF game :-( Wouldn't bet on it not being hoaching after the match either due to proximity to Celtic Park.

It was open in the summer last year as we had a work day out there, btw. Someone else mentioned to me that it had shut, but I never investigated further.

I think both Lucy and Trish have said to me independently it had shut. Oh well, pleased to be proved wrong but Ailsa probably has a point about proximity. Note, then?

What about the Pot Still? Had a couple of decent FAPs in there, can't see it being an option for the football crowds? Or, if you're after food, how's the Drum & Monkey likely to be for crowds, I can't remember if they have tellies but it never strikes me as a particularly football-watchy sort of a pub?

Are we likely to be many in number, we could probably meet somewhere then find somewhere else if necessary?
