that's the trouble w/ mcnulty...so insanely banal that it's impossible to tell parody from reality
― salvia divanorum (nakhchivan), Monday, 13 December 2010 21:59 (fifteen years ago)
Yeah I still have no idea if that's real.
― Sgt's Laughter (Sgt. Biscuits), Monday, 13 December 2010 22:00 (fifteen years ago)
Maybe not quite enough meaningless sentences to be real?
― Sgt's Laughter (Sgt. Biscuits), Monday, 13 December 2010 22:01 (fifteen years ago)
yeah it's a bit lapidary and incisive to truly challenge the nultster himself
― salvia divanorum (nakhchivan), Monday, 13 December 2010 22:02 (fifteen years ago)
final rhetorical question is 100% mcnulty tho
Everything I've seen since el Clasico has been abject (missed the second half yesterday). I need a winter break.

stoke-blackpool (2nd half) was riveting and exceptional EPL fare fwiw

not sure how can they think mcnulty is good at all, let alone chief writer.

now there's a man whose interior life wd be too grim for even we merriless grouches to speculate upon
― schlomo replay (acoleuthic), Monday, 13 December 2010 14:16 (9 hours ago)
this is true
i remember even as a kid when he was probably the best villa manager of the last two decades outside davey o'leary's first season.....there was always something deathly grim about john gregory
allardyce going to be manager of wigan within weeks
― salvia divanorum (nakhchivan), Monday, 13 December 2010 23:47 (fifteen years ago)
he's basically the touring circus of underfunded, undersupported lancashire milltown clubs who somehow keep themselves in the top flight year after year
― salvia divanorum (nakhchivan), Monday, 13 December 2010 23:48 (fifteen years ago)
interior life of john gregory should be just an endless loop of bosko balaban's playing stats.

SAM ALLARDYCE'S two-year Blackburn reign came to an end due to a bitter feud over January transfer targets.
New owners Venky's indicated there would be around £5million to spend to bolster Rovers' survival push.
But their targets could not have been more different to those eyed by Big Sam.
He was keen on Tottenham's ex-Ewood Park favourite David Bentley - but the Indians fancied Brazilian crock Geovanni, who had just left San Jose Earthquakes.
Allardyce wanted to bring back Roque Santa Cruz from Manchester City or even make a move for Spurs' Robbie Keane - but the new owners had their eye on Middlesbrough misfit Kris Boyd.
VEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEENKKKYYYYYYSS
― salvia divanorum (nakhchivan), Tuesday, 14 December 2010 01:03 (fifteen years ago)
So: Big Sam wanted to sign uninspiring expensive players while Venky's wanted to sign uninspiring cheap players.
― Insane Clown 2 Electric Juggalo (onimo), Tuesday, 14 December 2010 10:07 (fifteen years ago)
Yeah but Santa Cruz, Keane and Bentley would have kept them in the Premiership and would certainly have improved that team. All three would have been good signings if they could've paid their wages. Not that Blackburn were in real danger of going down.
Not sure what's going on here. Either the money's just not really there for transfers, or they just didn't trust Allardyce to spend their money. A bit like when Abramovich lumbered Mourinho with Steve Sidwell and Tal Ben Haim and people, except really shit.

Asked whether gays and lesbians should worry about attending the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where homosexuality is illegal, Fifa president Sepp Blatter quipped: "They should refrain from any sexual activities."
― cozen, Tuesday, 14 December 2010 10:18 (fifteen years ago)
Not that Blackburn were in real danger of going down.
^otm. They were always going to finish somewhere between 8th and 17th.
I like how that article calls Geovanni a "crock" yet Santa Cruz gets a free pass. And Kris Boyd is a "misfit" but Bentley isn't?
I don't think any of the players mentioned other than Keane would be good for the current Blackburn team - they're all either permanently shite or permanently injured or a combination of both.
― Insane Clown 2 Electric Juggalo (onimo), Tuesday, 14 December 2010 10:21 (fifteen years ago)
Said it once, will say it again, FUCK him.
Santa Cruz, Bentley and Keane are terrible targets, lets be honest. One is an injury liability who'd be on the wages of 4 other players combined, one is a lazy cnut who has 1 decent game a season these days and Keane hasn't performed in about 3 years excluding Celtic while also on ridic wages. Geovanni and Boyd also a potential waste of money.
Someone at Blackburn obviously knows how to scout properly. Who was it that plucked the likes of Samba and Nelson from obscurity?
Also lol just noticed that Kalinic has scored just 4 in 36 games. Was it nakh who was singing his praises? Guy is usually so otm football wise as well :(

Still think Bentley has it in him to be a consistent sort of midtable Premiership goal provider - ie the player he was at Blackburn. He'd do fine given a sustained run in a team. Just not the Spurs team.
― Matt DC, Tuesday, 14 December 2010 10:32 (fifteen years ago)
he's very good at delivering balls to a pile of rubbish so he'd be perfect at blackburn
― Eto'o ))) (ken c), Tuesday, 14 December 2010 10:47 (fifteen years ago)
Anyway if the rumours are true and the chicken dudes really do want Maradona as manager then Blackburn are about to replace Newcastle as everyone's favourite lolclub.
― Matt DC, Tuesday, 14 December 2010 10:48 (fifteen years ago)
Isn't that story written for every club who needs a manager now? His name was certainly banded around for Villa.
― irish xmas caek, get that marzipan inta ya (a hoy hoy), Tuesday, 14 December 2010 10:52 (fifteen years ago)

― irish xmas caek, get that marzipan inta ya (a hoy hoy), Tuesday, 14 December 2010 10:55 (fifteen years ago)
We don't know. Villa were never going to get Maradona in a million years, we know enough enough about them to be able to dismiss that story. Anything could happen with Blackburn.
Generally speaking when clubs are taken over by investors with minimal knowledge of football I tend to assume they are idiots until proven otherwise.

― irish xmas caek, get that marzipan inta ya (a hoy hoy), Tuesday, 14 December 2010 11:25 (fifteen years ago)
1 in 4 looks bad but then he's had a lot of bench time and it's hard to settle in a new country with a different language.
― Insane Clown 2 Electric Juggalo (onimo), Tuesday, 14 December 2010 11:28 (fifteen years ago)
5 from 14 starts and one of them was a winning goal. You can't buy that sort of quality.

I understand resentment is starting to surround the French-speaking players, who are allegedly blaming other team-mates for the club's indifferent Premier League form.
French in dressing-room unrest shocker.
― Insane Clown 2 Electric Juggalo (onimo), Wednesday, 15 December 2010 10:13 (fifteen years ago)
I'm not sure that Chelsea's ENTIRE FUCKING FRONT LINE can really shift the blame that easily.
― Matt DC, Wednesday, 15 December 2010 10:16 (fifteen years ago)
Can you name the Premier League goalkeepers with the most appearances by club?
A frankly hopeless 46 out of 126. Blind spot well and truly exposed here. I didn't actually miss that many big names, but I've got to be disappointed not to get at least half of those.
― Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 15 December 2010 11:48 (fifteen years ago)

I only got 49. Big ones I forgot - Barthez, Shaka Hislop, Scott Carson, Kevin Pressman, Thomas Sorensen. For some reason it wouldn't accept Chris Kirkland, only Christopher Kirkland, so I actually got 50.
― Matt DC, Wednesday, 15 December 2010 12:07 (fifteen years ago)
got 78. spelt kuszczak correctly with 2 seconds remaining. got some pretty tricky ones, also missed out on (reversed coz not to spoil) a few sorts like moop tram, namdeh sungam and imein ittna, which left me feeling somewhat embarrassed, also forgot dudek haha
