Yeah, the 'Intercontinental' Cup was the de facto World Club Championship until FIFA muscled in. The Brazil 2000 tournament lacked any real legitimacy and was a glorified friendly, which is why United's participation was so controversial. Following a couple of wikilinks it appears that they didn't manage to schedule a similar tournament for about 5 years after that, while the Intercontinental Cup carried on regardless.

in the first half defoe and pav were working the channels really well, gave the chelsea backline a lot of work to do. crouch, well he's the opposite really. were he any good in the air, well he could sit on terry's shoulder and just nod down the long ball, but as he's not, you're just sacrificing movement and snappy finishing for not much at all.

I think Spurs just outran themselves in the first half hour and looked knackered after that. Can't really complain about 1-1 against Chelsea four days after a CL game. Chelsea picked up in the second half but still look curiously off the pace - Essien should have been sent off and Ramires looked dire.

Tevez could easily walk into the first XI of pretty much any team in Europe except Barcelona. Got a feeling that Man City's owners would rather lose their manager than their top scorer, so there's a way to run here.
