A new 30 Rock thread because I can't find the old one

they are? i mean i guess previous ones have had big setpieces but that's a strange expectation for a Christmas episode imo

maybe i'm remembering incorrectly, i dunno.

when people worried about Pete or whoever getting kind of pushed out or forgotten about if they weren't seen much for a while in the first couple seasons, i think that was a legitimate concern, lots of shows kind of quietly drop characters early on. but at this point i feel like they have a pretty big ensemble of supporting & recurring players and do a good job of just using them when they've got an idea and not just giving every single person a line just so they have one every week.

basically outside of the 5 main cast members, i can't say i'm ever disappointed if someone doesn't get screentime any given week

i think expecting the entire cast to be utilized is kind of silly.

also, at first i hated the jenna/paul thing, but now i think it's my favorite subplot. maybe it's because i'm all like 'YEAH WEIRD QUEER SHIT' but u can't deny that the scene in Paul's work with Liz was just hysterical.

i think this ep is top five of all time, for me.

oh, don't worry, it was plenty of fun to watch, just not one of my favorites. this season overall has been awesome. but what happened to Matt Damon? did they even mention Carol?

well the whole concept of him being a pilot and having a long distance relationship w/ Liz is i think so that they can just kind of pop him in when he's available without it just being this very specific 'arc' where he's in every episode for a while.

He had diabetes for years before he ever started treating it, if memory serves...so kidney failure pretty much goes with that territory, also the weight gain.

I'm surprised he's only missing two episodes, it can take a while to recover from a kidney transplant.

Morgan's recovery evidently requires that his character be written out of at least two episodes of "30 Rock," which will air in March, an on-screen absence that will be explained as "some sort of a meltdown because of a good thing that’s happened to him"

Spent today watching the first 10 episodes of Season 5 for the first time. Absolutely ace stuff, too many times I had to pause it just so I could finish laughing.

shows taking a break from mid-Dec to mid-Jan is pretty standard, although this year 30 Rock and the other NBC sitcoms are taking 6 weeks between new episodes instead of the more common 4 weeks

It's Always Sunny's season is just over though
