k3vin k., Saturday, 11 December 2010 18:04 (fifteen years ago)

glad dot com got a few good lines too, really feel like they were underutilizing him

k3vin k., Saturday, 11 December 2010 18:06 (fifteen years ago)

I didn't like this one very much. Probably because I favor the episodes that feature the 30 Rock writers, Pete, Cerie... everybody. Especially in a Christmas episode, I want to see all of them! Plus IMHO Avery sucks and Jenna's boyfriend sucks too. They eat up way more screen time than their schticks warrant.

the girl from spirea x (f. hazel), Saturday, 11 December 2010 20:47 (fifteen years ago)

i can't fathom sitting around after a 30 Rock episode thinking "that could've been funnier if CERIE was there"

some dude, Saturday, 11 December 2010 20:51 (fifteen years ago)

i dunno, i agree that the best part about xmas episodes is that they're an excuse to give the whole cast a bit of screentime.

kanellos (gbx), Saturday, 11 December 2010 20:52 (fifteen years ago)

they are? i mean i guess previous ones have had big setpieces but that's a strange expectation for a Christmas episode imo

some dude, Saturday, 11 December 2010 20:52 (fifteen years ago)

maybe i'm remembering incorrectly, i dunno.

kanellos (gbx), Saturday, 11 December 2010 20:55 (fifteen years ago)

when people worried about Pete or whoever getting kind of pushed out or forgotten about if they weren't seen much for a while in the first couple seasons, i think that was a legitimate concern, lots of shows kind of quietly drop characters early on. but at this point i feel like they have a pretty big ensemble of supporting & recurring players and do a good job of just using them when they've got an idea and not just giving every single person a line just so they have one every week.

some dude, Saturday, 11 December 2010 20:57 (fifteen years ago)

basically outside of the 5 main cast members, i can't say i'm ever disappointed if someone doesn't get screentime any given week

some dude, Saturday, 11 December 2010 20:58 (fifteen years ago)

tracy jenna liz jack + kenneth?

Mordy, Saturday, 11 December 2010 21:11 (fifteen years ago)

"They just got caller ID in Vermont!"

hahahaha!

scott seward, Saturday, 11 December 2010 21:16 (fifteen years ago)

yeah (xpost)

some dude, Saturday, 11 December 2010 21:21 (fifteen years ago)

i think expecting the entire cast to be utilized is kind of silly.

also, at first i hated the jenna/paul thing, but now i think it's my favorite subplot. maybe it's because i'm all like 'YEAH WEIRD QUEER SHIT' but u can't deny that the scene in Paul's work with Liz was just hysterical.

i think this ep is top five of all time, for me.

"I see you brought the bag that my bastard grandchild will come in."

laffs aplenty!

scott seward, Saturday, 11 December 2010 21:32 (fifteen years ago)

dude from the office directed this episode. the bug-eyed farmer dude. don't know if that was mentioned.

scott seward, Saturday, 11 December 2010 21:33 (fifteen years ago)

oh, don't worry, it was plenty of fun to watch, just not one of my favorites. this season overall has been awesome. but what happened to Matt Damon? did they even mention Carol?

the girl from spirea x (f. hazel), Saturday, 11 December 2010 21:43 (fifteen years ago)

well the whole concept of him being a pilot and having a long distance relationship w/ Liz is i think so that they can just kind of pop him in when he's available without it just being this very specific 'arc' where he's in every episode for a while.

some dude, Saturday, 11 December 2010 22:01 (fifteen years ago)

"that could've been funnier hotter if CERIE was there"

Leeeline Supplement No. 74 (Leee), Saturday, 11 December 2010 22:22 (fifteen years ago)

This season needs more Avery tbh.
