In 2003, BBC journalist Stuart Roach described Pardew as being a 'dangerous and distant animal' due to his poor public relations abilities.

Just noting how nice it is of Siralec to remind the more vocal members of the prawn sandwich brigade which song they should be singing. He did the same thing last season iirc.
― James Mitchell, Thursday, 9 December 2010 23:26 (fifteen years ago)
Are you seriously suggesting that those songs wouldn't be sung without Ferguson explicitly asking for them not to be sung?
― Porpoises Rescue Dick Van Dyke (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Thursday, 9 December 2010 23:33 (fifteen years ago)
Don't think Ferguson asking is going to make them stop. I'm just jealous we've never had an actual paedo in our team, like Kléberson. At least Graham Rix waited until after he'd joined Chelsea.

Sir Alex Ferguson is to make a personal plea to Manchester United's supporters to put an end to the sick chants that are aimed at Arsène Wenger whenever Arsenal visit Old Trafford.
I think he just prefers the one that goes to the tune of Amarillo.
― Matt DC, Friday, 10 December 2010 11:41 (fifteen years ago)
haven't seen anything written about it, but i wonder if there will be a reaction from liverpool fans to new owner John Henry signing Carl Crawford to a 7-year $140M contract for the red sox. it's the ninth biggest contract in major league history.
― mizzell, Friday, 10 December 2010 19:52 (fifteen years ago)
I thought his philosophy was meant to be the Moneyball looking-for-rejects-and-bargains thing?
― Ismael Klata, Friday, 10 December 2010 19:57 (fifteen years ago)
not exactly. that's what's always written, but it's almost a moneyball+ way of managing: look for underrated talents (especially in scouting) AND spend money when you have to.
if liverpool fans are going to take anything away from this, it's that henry is willing to spend.
― harlan, Friday, 10 December 2010 20:01 (fifteen years ago)
i can't think of a reject/ bargain that has come good for the sox since signing Ortiz in 2003. they have done really well at developing homegrown talent, but have always spent a lot of money, especially on pitchers.
― mizzell, Friday, 10 December 2010 20:09 (fifteen years ago)
