CAFE IBERICO: SERIOUSLY UNDERWHELMING. Food was solidly so-so and the service was right there with the food. I'm having trouble describing the food--it was just really blah. It was spicy and stuff, but it just seemed...unfinished or something. Like it was 2 steps away from being restaurant-quality. The quail paella was pretty OK, but not outstanding.

The ice cream crepe was DE-licious though.

Jenny, Jeff, Sarah and I went to Cafe Iberico like ... a year ago? Longer? I kind of felt the same way as you, Jesse. It was ok but not amazing, and it's weird eating in that huge loud room.

Oh yeh, I forgot about that. There is this woman I work with at Catch who raves on and on and on about that place. And a guy I work with was badmouthing BaBaReBa and said that for GOOD tapas, go to Iberico. Bleh.

Ugh, pumpkin beer. WHY

Dogfish head pumpkin beer is the only pumpkin beer I like. It isn't just a beer with some sweet pumpkin syrup squirted in it. It's like brewed with pumpkin guts in it or something.

Most pumpkin beers are cloying or too sweet. I like bite with just slightest essence of pumpkin.

I've never had that one, but I'd be willing to try it because Dogfish Head makes good beer. But yeah, the sweet is what puts me off.

I got some of their Golden Era (formerly Golden Shower) pilsner at Binny's the other day. It's fucking fantastic. $13 for a 4 pack though :((((((((((((((((((999

I don't have the scores for the written part yet, obviously, but my total for the math and verbal section was the exact same as my old SAT scores, and the section scores were almost exactly the same (+10 on one, -10 on the other). SO JAZZED.

I didn't get a perfect GRE score or anything, by the way, but I did significantly better than I did on any of the practice tests and better than I was thinking I would do and good enough for me to feel like I don't have to take it again, unless I somehow did terribly on the written part (which I don't think I did).

One of the dumb things about the GRE is that in addition to the verbal, math, and writing sections, they will often (maybe always) include an extra section of verbal or math questions, which are "experimental" questions they are trying out. They don't count towards your score, but you don't know which of the two verbal or math sections was the noncounted experimental section, so you have to try hard on both. So I had to do two math sections, which sucked, because I was getting pretty worn out by the end. Fortunately, the first math section I did, which seemed easy, must have been the one that counted. But I still think it's lame to make people do extra work for no reason.

I don't know why I'm being coy, I got 700/800 on verbal and 700/800 on math for a total of 1400/1600. Probably could have done a little better on verbal but the questions got pretty tough, and I did much better on the math than I was expecting.

The game tomorrow should be great, the Cubs are kind of on fire right now.
