The ticket prices for Doctor Atomic are crazy (over $100 for anything but nosebleed seats). Maybe I will bum-rush the show, or sneak in at intermission.

has anyone heard of the band Plaid? I have a CD of theirs and I don't know where it came from. It was in my laptop. HOW DID IT GET THERE??
It sounds like, "weeeooo-weee-oooo-weeeeooooo-weeee-ooooo/doot doot doot doot doot doot/weeeeeee ooooo dooot doooot dwewefanlgknank"
― Jesse, Saturday, 15 December 2007 20:03 (eighteen years ago)
yeah, Plaid is pretty good. back when i listened to more Autechre and stuff i had a few tracks off Double Figure that i liked a lot.
does anyone know why there is a loud buzz coming from my turntable (even when it's not on, just when i'm on that input channel on my stereo)? is it a grounding thing?
― Jordan, Saturday, 15 December 2007 20:07 (eighteen years ago)
My speakers at work buzz loudly when I put my desk lamp too close to the speakers or the cords.
Seriously, where the hell did this CD come from?? Anyone claim this? Probably Kenan's. It's definitely NOT mine since I don't buy CDs and I definitely would not have bought this one (since I have never even heard of them).
If you want this CD you can have it.
― Jesse, Saturday, 15 December 2007 20:09 (eighteen years ago)
what cd is it?
― Jordan, Saturday, 15 December 2007 20:10 (eighteen years ago)
it's the one the goes "weeeooooweeeoooo"
I don't know. It's not labelled and stupid iTunes crashed and wants to be reinstalled and VLC player doesn't show titles.
― Jesse, Saturday, 15 December 2007 20:51 (eighteen years ago)
hmm, there's a lot of snow out there. i'm really glad we found a garage space last weekend. but i'm not hugely looking forward to the trek to the hideout tonight. hmm.
― colette, Saturday, 15 December 2007 23:57 (eighteen years ago)
also, how do you know when the 2" rule is in effect? i'm guessing it's the amount of snow on the roads/sidewalks rather than yards where stuff can pile up all winter, but have no idea if there's a website that says "don't park here today, it's officially over 2" of snow". of course the city of chicago site tells me where these restrictions are, but not how they define it.
― colette, Sunday, 16 December 2007 00:04 (eighteen years ago)
Halsted to north, north to elston, elston to wabansia, easy. enjoy the show!

What is it with you and log cabin repubs, Jesse? Please don't go all neo-con on me. I don't think I can take it.
― Jenny, Sunday, 16 December 2007 18:49 (eighteen years ago)
is the cta working today?
― deej, Sunday, 16 December 2007 19:22 (eighteen years ago)

It is so pretty outside. <333
― Ivan, Sunday, 16 December 2007 20:05 (eighteen years ago)
I don't know what it is with the Log Cabin Republicans, but I am meeting entirely too many of them. This guy last night was telling me how he has been HIV+ for 22 years and never taken medicine and he has been to 14 funerals since 1985 for friends who died of AIDS. Then he said that Ronald Reagan was a great president and that it was in no way his fault that he refused to make an effort to stop the epidemic because "his hands were tied." Also, no other politicians could really have done anything "because of the political climate."
It's sickening how fatalistic he was about 14 friends dying and his own infection, and how he defended the correctness of apathy as a response to the plague.
― Jesse, Monday, 17 December 2007 05:23 (eighteen years ago)
i didn't know there were so many gay republicans. apparently, there's like, eight at least?!
― Jordan, Monday, 17 December 2007 05:24 (eighteen years ago)
They're coming out.
― Jesse, Monday, 17 December 2007 05:25 (eighteen years ago)
today i made a tasty burger using meat leftover from the chili, watched a bunch of the wire, got a hundred bucks for some used cds, and put some nerd prog cds on ebay. i'm clearing out my high school collection basically.
― Jordan, Monday, 17 December 2007 05:25 (eighteen years ago)
Tonight's Republican date tonight was kind of boring and overly endearing ( I said "Blahblahblah is interesting." He looked at me dreamily and replied, "I find *you* interesting." So it went all night. PUKE.)

The wind was bitter cold this morning. It made my eyes water.
How was your weekend?
I made those crazy cookies. Also, my hair is a different color now.

i stared at this flier for way too long thinking it was a weird way to hire a band for your wedding (or how irresponsible it is to lose a bunch of musicians, wah wah).
― Jordan, Monday, 17 December 2007 15:39 (eighteen years ago)
The cookies were indeed crazy delicious.
My hair is a very dark brown.
― KitCat, Monday, 17 December 2007 15:44 (eighteen years ago)
ooh! winter is a good time for dark brown. i was thinking of going for the same color (super dark brown) but wanted to wait til after vacay to see if maybe some sunshine would improve the poopy quality of my natural haircolor.
― La Lechera, Monday, 17 December 2007 15:46 (eighteen years ago)
in my class on saturday i got a projector from the tech lab to show them some useful websites. it also had the purpose of serving as a music device since we could listen to internet radio or whatever during our end-of-semester party.
a couple of my students were huddled around the laptop and they were looking at something on youtube. i went over there and they were watching the video for lionel richie's "hello."
1) algerian dude says, "he needs haircut"
2) same dude turns it up really loud to illustrate that the reason he pulled up this particular lionel richie video is because the blind girl is named amanda.
3) we listen to more lionel richie at startlingly high volumes

I'm jealous about Mexico!

I watched Rescue Dawn and Interview on Saturday, liked both. I was trying to remember all the 2-3 person movies we talked about that one time: Oleanna, Tape, Before Sunrise/Sunset, Bug, what else?
― Jordan, Monday, 17 December 2007 16:07 (eighteen years ago)
I've never seen it but i think My Dinner With Andre is one of those?

IMDB lists four cast members, but one is 'bartender' and one is 'waiter' so i think it fits
