The Rolling Stones are there too. Whether it's nostalgia or coincidence, Gimme Shelter is at No 81. The song isn't new, reissued or the subject of a major Apple announcement. People just like it a lot.

Nothing at all to do with it being used in the CoD:BlOps ad.

And which tracks are most popular with Fab Four fans in the UK? Not Yesterday, I Want to Hold Your Hand or even Strawberry Fields. British music-lovers are double-clicking their love for Hey Jude, Twist and Shout, and Let It Be.

not these three popular beatles songs, these other three popular beatles songs.

xtc ep, etc (xp) (ledge), Wednesday, 17 November 2010 14:02 (fifteen years ago)

28 songs in the top 100 now - seems people really did wait all this time for Beatles mp3s.

how does itunes chart relate to the UK chart?

piscesx, Wednesday, 17 November 2010 15:32 (fifteen years ago)

I think the UK Chart covers physical sales + downloads from most major sellers including iTunes

Apple TV's a bit of a half-baked pile of shit innit.

Friday: vuvuzela club meeting (Autumn Almanac), Saturday, 20 November 2010 11:21 (fifteen years ago)

Apple TV will make sense in a couple of years when Jobs finally figures a way to lock the internet in his proprietary box.

Still think it would have been one of the most magnanimous actions in history had the Beatles offered its entire catalog for free download in modest quality when they released the remasters. Like, "this is for everyone, if you want it." Decades of ill-will would have instantly evaporated. But no, the dicking around continues unabated.

Josh in Chicago, Saturday, 20 November 2010 13:37 (fifteen years ago)

yes, so much ill will towards the beatles

caek, Saturday, 20 November 2010 13:47 (fifteen years ago)

h8 beatles

ice cr?m, Saturday, 20 November 2010 13:48 (fifteen years ago)

has anyone used an apple tv btw - thinking abt getting one for my dad so he can stream netflix / access itunes

ice cr?m, Saturday, 20 November 2010 13:49 (fifteen years ago)

do not let him on itunes if he hates the beatles, because the beatles are on there and they are charging for their albums

caek, Saturday, 20 November 2010 13:50 (fifteen years ago)

u r rite :(

ice cr?m, Saturday, 20 November 2010 13:51 (fifteen years ago)

It finally occurred to me that I may slowly be turning hipster. I collect Penguin Classics and literature in trade paperback format. I like to attend, and excel at, all the thespian classes (film, theater, literature) in college and when I have free time and cash I like to hang out around independent music shops, used record stores and used book stores. How long before I ditch my beloved Acer for an iPad?

That's not a "laugh track", it's an audience and you're in it. (MintIce), Saturday, 20 November 2010 14:11 (fifteen years ago)

5/10, pretty good

caek, Saturday, 20 November 2010 14:15 (fifteen years ago)

i have an apple tv (a new one), it is great, best $99 purchase I've made ina long time. The only bad thing about it IMO is that netflix streaming looks kind of shit, but apparently this is because of the incredibly slow DSL line I have at this house (I can't get it upgraded to anything faster for various reasons), if I'm lucky it gets 3mbps but it's usually more around 1.5 or 2, so the netflix stuff looks like youtube. but I use it mostly for streaming the itunes library to my stereo.

akm, Saturday, 20 November 2010 14:29 (fifteen years ago)

the outpouring of hatred for the beatles after the announcement this week was just... staggering

shirley summistake (s1ocki), Saturday, 20 November 2010 15:53 (fifteen years ago)

Yeah, well. Welcome to Stagger's then.

http://tinyurl.com/koalalala (Pleasant Plains), Saturday, 20 November 2010 16:02 (fifteen years ago)

hmm my dad has sort of shitty internet too (lol vermont) how big is yr tv that netflix looks like youtube on akm?

ice cr?m, Saturday, 20 November 2010 17:03 (fifteen years ago)

x-post Love the Beatles. Hate Beatles, Inc, which as any Beatles fan will tell you has more or less dragged its feet on all things catalog - reissues, remastering, etc. - or outright done the wrong thing. The ill-will I alluded to was toward the business side, because the music remains unimpeachable.

Josh in Chicago, Saturday, 20 November 2010 17:03 (fifteen years ago)

there are maybe 10-15 people, worldwide, who do not already have digital copies of every album and who also follow the beatles reissues/remasters closely enough to have an opinion about how the beatles operate as a publishing business.

caek, Saturday, 20 November 2010 17:08 (fifteen years ago)

AND I AM NINE OF THEM

ice cr?m, Saturday, 20 November 2010 17:15 (fifteen years ago)

are you angry that the box set is not free?

caek, Saturday, 20 November 2010 17:16 (fifteen years ago)

MAN RINGO BETTER HAND DELIVER ME THAT SHIT IS ALL IM SAYIN

ice cr?m, Saturday, 20 November 2010 17:19 (fifteen years ago)

WITH AN AUTOGRAPH.

http://tinyurl.com/koalalala (Pleasant Plains), Saturday, 20 November 2010 17:20 (fifteen years ago)

guys, my mom was pretty interested in this whole "beatles on itunes" thing. she expressed an interest in buying an album or two this way, although the full catalog would be "way too much beatles"

fwiw she lost her albums on vinyl a few decades ago, don't think she's ever bought any since then. maybe listened when my little sister had albums.

It's not that, it's the sheer amount of stuff that's badly implemented. You can't play songs unless they're checked in iTunes, you can't control photo transitions in manual mode, you can't run a slideshow of more than 10 photos at a time, etc etc. This thing desperately wants a software update.

Friday: vuvuzela club meeting (Autumn Almanac), Saturday, 20 November 2010 20:59 (fifteen years ago)

who unchecks songs in itunes??

shirley summistake (s1ocki), Saturday, 20 November 2010 21:02 (fifteen years ago)

lol i was just trying to get the check column to disappear the other day

ice cr?m, Saturday, 20 November 2010 21:04 (fifteen years ago)

the beatles are the george lucas of musicians. discuss.
