What's the bitrate on these? (I don't use iTunes) £125 is basically the same price as the CD stereo box set.

seandalai, Tuesday, 16 November 2010 19:13 (fifteen years ago)

OTM. Plus all their outtakes and stuff. Hell, if they had announced the availability of their catalog + their catalog's worth of new outtakes, I'd actually consider it.

Supposedly they were working on a DVD release a few years ago (before Neil Aspinall died), but looking at the footage, McCartney's reaction was basically, "Boy, I was a dick. OK, shut it down."

Son of Sisyphus of Reaganing (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Tuesday, 16 November 2010 20:49 (fifteen years ago)

Mm i've always imagined that might be the case. Where did you read about it?

piscesx, Tuesday, 16 November 2010 21:43 (fifteen years ago)

Here: http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/54635/Macca-and-Ringo-say-just-Let-It-Be

Can't remember where I read about McCartney's take on/takedown of it, though.

Son of Sisyphus of Reaganing (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Tuesday, 16 November 2010 22:03 (fifteen years ago)

mm i wouldn't want it out i guess if i were him. but then i wouldn't have wanted Magical Mystery Tour out either.

The Beatles glumly watch a rough cut of Let It Be in 1969.

back row l-r Paul & Linda (necking in the back row), Ringo, John (a rare 1969 appearance without Yoko at this side
front row l-r George's Dad!, Patti, George, George's Mum (soon to pass away), and behind her Beatles lackey/associate Terry Doran

I'd never seen this photo till a few weeks ago when it turned up on the Beatles Photo Blog.

The Rolling Stones are there too. Whether it's nostalgia or coincidence, Gimme Shelter is at No 81. The song isn't new, reissued or the subject of a major Apple announcement. People just like it a lot.

Nothing at all to do with it being used in the CoD:BlOps ad.

And which tracks are most popular with Fab Four fans in the UK? Not Yesterday, I Want to Hold Your Hand or even Strawberry Fields. British music-lovers are double-clicking their love for Hey Jude, Twist and Shout, and Let It Be.

not these three popular beatles songs, these other three popular beatles songs.

xtc ep, etc (xp) (ledge), Wednesday, 17 November 2010 14:02 (fifteen years ago)

28 songs in the top 100 now - seems people really did wait all this time for Beatles mp3s.

how does itunes chart relate to the UK chart?

piscesx, Wednesday, 17 November 2010 15:32 (fifteen years ago)

I think the UK Chart covers physical sales + downloads from most major sellers including iTunes

Apple TV's a bit of a half-baked pile of shit innit.

Friday: vuvuzela club meeting (Autumn Almanac), Saturday, 20 November 2010 11:21 (fifteen years ago)

Apple TV will make sense in a couple of years when Jobs finally figures a way to lock the internet in his proprietary box.

Still think it would have been one of the most magnanimous actions in history had the Beatles offered its entire catalog for free download in modest quality when they released the remasters. Like, "this is for everyone, if you want it." Decades of ill-will would have instantly evaporated. But no, the dicking around continues unabated.

Josh in Chicago, Saturday, 20 November 2010 13:37 (fifteen years ago)

yes, so much ill will towards the beatles

caek, Saturday, 20 November 2010 13:47 (fifteen years ago)
