If they were fighting outside my local I'd go back inside when I'd finished my cig.

doesn't quite roll off the tongue like Khaosai Galaxy does it?

cajunsunday, Sunday, 7 November 2010 23:22 (fifteen years ago)

Wow at weight difference for Haye vs Harrison - Haye not much over the Cruiserweight limit at 15 stone, Harrison is over 18st.

Smiley panda mixed moniker (7,4) (onimo), Friday, 12 November 2010 14:39 (fifteen years ago)

Strange that Sky haven't thrown the Pacquaio v Maragarito onto the PPV package with the Haye fight - looks like Manny's going to be on regular old Sky Sports 1.

Smiley panda mixed moniker (7,4) (onimo), Friday, 12 November 2010 14:44 (fifteen years ago)

lol Harrison giving it the "good big 'un always beats a good little 'un" trope - playing fast and loose with the "good" bit there.

Smiley panda mixed moniker (7,4) (onimo), Friday, 12 November 2010 14:45 (fifteen years ago)

interesting how the 24/7 has been pushing the "manny is so distracted" angle. i guess they need something to try and portray that this will be a watchable fight. i kinda like maguerito & think hes a tough dude but pacquiaos gonna be way too fast for him right?

johnny crunch, Friday, 12 November 2010 14:59 (fifteen years ago)

I'm dog-sitting for friends who told me I could order the fight on their cable, but I think I'd feel bad wasting their $65 on this. I think I'll watch free UFC and torrent the fight afterward if it's actually good.

"you're shit and you know you are". Pity the fools who paid for that shit.
Haye still isn't that good though. Fraudley must surely retire now.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Saturday, 13 November 2010 22:32 (fifteen years ago)

My brother-in-law was going to order the fight on PPV but was over-ruled by his missus. I just found this out - he could have come round here and paid for it to be on our telly rather than subterfugey internets.

Never even occurred to me to check regular Sky for the earlier fight, was too busy watching X factor :-(

But three rounds for the main event - not really worth the dosh, tbh.

ha, xpost

ailsa, Saturday, 13 November 2010 22:34 (fifteen years ago)

Manny Pacquaio v Antonio Maragarito on Sky Sp 1 in the middle of the night if you can be arsed staying up. Should be a better fight than the heavyweights - expect the good little 'un will win again.

Smiley panda mixed moniker (7,4) (onimo), Saturday, 13 November 2010 22:53 (fifteen years ago)

Oh, thought it was earlier, cared so little I didn't even think to look for a result and find out there wasn't one because it hadn't been on :)

ailsa, Saturday, 13 November 2010 23:01 (fifteen years ago)

One punch Audley landed, one fucking punch. Pathetic.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 14 November 2010 04:49 (fifteen years ago)

Here we go..

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 14 November 2010 04:55 (fifteen years ago)

Manny looks half the size.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 14 November 2010 04:56 (fifteen years ago)

Manny might just take him out here in the 4th

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 14 November 2010 05:09 (fifteen years ago)

That was a great round, but Margarito is one tough cookie. He's cut though, he's gonna have to try knock out Manny quickly. I'm calling a classic 5th round now.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 14 November 2010 05:11 (fifteen years ago)

And it is so far

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 14 November 2010 05:12 (fifteen years ago)

This is great stuff

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 14 November 2010 05:14 (fifteen years ago)

If only fraudley showed this much heart.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 14 November 2010 05:15 (fifteen years ago)

Watching a Sky stream is weird - prefer the announcers, but it's strange to cut to commercial instead of listening in to the corners.

boots get knocked from here to czechoslovakier (milo z), Sunday, 14 November 2010 05:16 (fifteen years ago)

that was another great round , very close too

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 14 November 2010 05:18 (fifteen years ago)

When Margarito just looks to get on top in a round (esp on the ropes) manny just comes back and Margarito just cant mantain it. But surely someones legs will go even if manny is seemingly clear on points. Manny is the boxer but he's not scared to go toe to toe with a guy much much bigger & stronger.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 14 November 2010 05:27 (fifteen years ago)

Whatever the result I think Margarito has gone someway to restore his reputation.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 14 November 2010 05:28 (fifteen years ago)

Margarito is taking huge punches here but he's not gonna go down. He's certainly capable of winning this fight. Manny has to box here forget the toe to toe (and he's doing exactly that) Whoever is fittest will win this.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 14 November 2010 05:30 (fifteen years ago)

That eye looks shut. fuck me he's a brave guy. He's not out of this. Got manny well ahead on points though.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 14 November 2010 05:31 (fifteen years ago)

Great round from Manny, thought it was gonna end there. I reckon Manny is 7 rounds ahead at the end of the 10th

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 14 November 2010 05:35 (fifteen years ago)

That round was an absolute masterclass in boxing.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 14 November 2010 05:35 (fifteen years ago)

I can't believe such a small guy is giving a huge guy a beating

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 14 November 2010 05:37 (fifteen years ago)

If he was the same size as manny he woulda been down long ago. But man he's tough.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 14 November 2010 05:38 (fifteen years ago)

Fraudley I really hope you're watching this.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 14 November 2010 05:38 (fifteen years ago)

And it's going to the final round. Manny 8 ahead for me.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 14 November 2010 05:39 (fifteen years ago)

and its over. Manny ,without doubt, one of the greatest boxers of all time.

9 rounds ahead for me.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 14 November 2010 05:43 (fifteen years ago)

I still think Floyd would beat Manny if they fought right now.

sous les paves, Sunday, 14 November 2010 05:44 (fifteen years ago)

Floyd, are you man enough to take him on? If he is, I just hope he doesn't go into his boring defensive style.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 14 November 2010 05:44 (fifteen years ago)

8th world championship.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 14 November 2010 05:45 (fifteen years ago)

6th weight. Wow.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 14 November 2010 05:46 (fifteen years ago)

that was an ass beating plain and simple.

honkin' on joey kramer (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Sunday, 14 November 2010 05:56 (fifteen years ago)

yup. But Mayweather is too good defensively to let that happen to him.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 14 November 2010 05:58 (fifteen years ago)

(sorry I wasn't here for the thread, I went to a bar to watch it in high def w/some margaritas...it was awesome. Margarito showed heart! fighting w/one eye shut for at least five rounds & probably more. but there isn't a fighter alive who can beat Manny Pacquiao in his class, or within one weight class in either direction. he is one of the best any boxing fan alive will ever see. his ring stewardship is spectacular, and his footwork will one day be the stuff that old-timers get misty-eyed about. he hits you coming in...he hits you fading back...he connects circling right...he lands moving left. and he doesn't just land; he lands combos while backing up. everybody wants to see a knockout, but it's like, why would you not want to get 12 full rounds of that such a pure distillation of what the sport's about? fucking incredible.)

honkin' on joey kramer (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Sunday, 14 November 2010 06:00 (fifteen years ago)

I also think while Pacquiao would have the fight of his career against Mayweather, there's still no doubt Pacquiao wins that fight. Mayweather's entire style is built on the notion that you can't hit a moving target. Pacquiao's multiple championships stem from the fact that a moving target looks about the same as a stationary one to him.

honkin' on joey kramer (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Sunday, 14 November 2010 06:01 (fifteen years ago)

and finally, Floyd's punches are hard, but Pacquiao seriously treats punches like rocket fuel. the harder you hit him the harder he comes back. Floyd's afraid of Manny & we'll never see that fight, but it's interesting to think about, anyway.

honkin' on joey kramer (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Sunday, 14 November 2010 06:02 (fifteen years ago)

It's the fight that needs to happen. I think it will, because Mayweather needs it more. Manny is up there with the absolute elite best Like Ali and the sugar ray's etc. Mayweather has to beat manny to get there.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 14 November 2010 06:03 (fifteen years ago)

Mayweather's perfect record means more to him than anything though. Manny is the only serious threat to that record he might face. If he loses to Manny, there'll be talk of Manny having "exposed" him, an examination of who exactly he beat & how, etc. Mayweather (and his father) are both super-history-conscious. They're not going to risk what they perceive as the greatest feat of current-day boxing for a chance at glory against a guy who doesn't feel like his legacy & rep will be hurt by a loss.

But yeah I mean at the bar tonight everybody was like, man, this is so hot...the Mayweather fight would be fire.

honkin' on joey kramer (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Sunday, 14 November 2010 06:07 (fifteen years ago)

anyway tho God damn that was another dominant, gorgeous, fluid, poem-like performance by Manny P. huge gasp-out-loud moments at least three times per round. and what he did to Margarito's eye. Jesus.

honkin' on joey kramer (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Sunday, 14 November 2010 06:08 (fifteen years ago)

Slept on this last night. Great that it went the whole 12, will check it out this week. Don't think Mayweather will ever make the Manny fight - knows he'll lose.
