I was going to hang out with my roommate tonight, but now I'm extremely pissed off at him after finding out the past month he's secretly been keeping pet ferrets in his room fully aware that I'm allergic to animals with fur. He thought that it was worth keeping them secret and seeing if my allergies started to get real bad.

So now I'm waiting for someone to get off work so I can go do something else tonight. I hope it does end up happening. Otherwise I may just sit in my room and be pissed off all night. And I'm getting tired of refreshing ILX. (No offense, ILX)

Mickey (modestmickey), Sunday, 4 December 2005 02:21 (eighteen years ago) link

That's not offensive. In fact, it's refreshing!

awesome saturday night in. watched twelve monkeys (yeah! also i just read oryx & crake! which echoed 'foundation' which i read just before that! how come these things always come with such perfect timing for me?) on tv, drank er whatever i could find (gin, rum, a bit of wine), generally revelled in not being out &etc. i get such a kick out of being in when everyone else is out...

I got out for a couple of hours to see Good Night and Good Luck, while the nieces were being put to bed. But now SVU reruns -- can hardly tell the difference from any other night of the week.

Wish I were in England where they serve rice AND chips with curry.

Mitya (mitya), Sunday, 4 December 2005 03:07 (eighteen years ago) link

Wait, rice plus french fries?

there weren't that many fries. the rice was perfectly cooked though; i'm glad it was there. awesome cold weather food.

i sucked it up and had my pesto, broccoli and garlic, yellow wax beans and tomato, and salad. watching LA Story while doing research.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Sunday, 4 December 2005 03:42 (eighteen years ago) link

On boring Saturday nights when I want to go out but can't find anything to do, I don't let myself read a book. Even if it's what I kind of want to do. It's almost like admitting defeat to admit "This is my life: Saturday night and I am reading Dostoyevsky." Not that being on the computer is any better, or anything. At least I'm not just looking at porn on the Internet or something. Actually, I haven't done that yet. I'm going to go do that now.

Mickey (modestmickey), Sunday, 4 December 2005 03:42 (eighteen years ago) link

there is an Ida Red in my future

gabbneb (gabbneb), Sunday, 4 December 2005 03:45 (eighteen years ago) link

Just returned from Whole Foods: my dinner is wild mushroom and pecan soup, jalapeno cornbread, and cold sesame greens. I'm going to try to pick up around the house, and probably watch a couple of Curb Your Enthusiasm episodes on DVD later.

Making green chile salsa, watching Unseen Cinema, drinking the champagne we bought for next week's party but decided is too good for our guests.

I've got some mighty fine wine here, folks. It's been three hours and I've only had two glasses. Now that's some good shit.

i've got some pretty shitty wine here! but that's ok, cause the cheese is good and i'm on my third glass so i don't even notice the badness of the wine anymore :)

Loving/hating my boring Sat night. Hubby ill with bad cold and irritable as hell insist on walking out to video store because he can’t stand watching Sinatra movie on TV any more. Pizza from D’Vitas on the way. Ho hum, comfortable but BORING!!!!!

Wiggy (Wiggy), Sunday, 4 December 2005 04:07 (eighteen years ago) link

Watched a few episodes of "Invasion", folded laundry. Researched online for suitable curtains for our back room [zzzzzzzzzzzzzz]. Made a batch of cornbread to go with Mr Vegemite's bbq ribs. Will prolly watch a movie tonight, maybe Mirrormask.

VegemiteGrrl (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 4 December 2005 04:09 (eighteen years ago) link

the wine at the restaurant was inoffensive-if-not-revelatory. (xpost)

ate bagels, watched Degrassi retrospective, napped, watched last week's nip/tuck, which was bad: no blood, no fights, nobody died. wtf. There is a party to go to, but that would mean, y'know, decision-making + effort. (and what could top Lady Sovereign last night?) jaymc, pls come to my house too and pick up around it b/c dishes need to be done and maybe some vacuuming too, kthnxbye.

I fell in love with Chateau de Campuget, Cuvee Prestige, 2001. So I ordered 6 bottles of it. This is the first one. They say it's supposed to be best in 2012. I can't even imagine it being better. Like chocolate cake, a little at a time. Also I really love raspberry chocolate cake. Anyone got any raspberry chocolate cake? Can you pass it over here? Thanks.

I had a dream about Bryan Ferry last night that totally cracked me up. I think we were on the "Love Boat" or something, you know, that old TV show? I'm actually not much of a Ferry fan, though I do like some Roxy Music a lot.

I watched Jackie Brown and got takeout. Half of my pizza was squashed in transit and bits of salami and capsicum were stuck to the top of the lid. It looked like someone sat on it. When I was cleaning up this morning I thought of Uncle Herb - "discarded pizza boxes are an inexpensive source of cheese."

Tonight was the first time I've left the house since Wed. Ahh, unemployment.

Went to an instore to see a couple of art/punk bands we know. Good fun, drinking 40s in paper bags. Then caught some whataburgers and met friends at the Carousel Lounge (BYOB dive with bizarre circus theme down the street from us.) Lastly back to ours for some dominoes and satiellite radio. Now my guy is passed out asleep but I'm non-drunk and awake. what a drag.

Jody, you seem to have an odd fetish for photographing your meals.

As for my Saturday night -- had the gf's parents over for dinner in our apartment for the first time. All things considered it went ok -- I thought it was a bad idea to begin with since her dad is a major foodie and a very critical person, but it went ok. I need to drink the other half of the bottle of wine now.

:( :( :(

tres letraj (tehresa), Sunday, 4 December 2005 05:37 (eighteen years ago) link

It was JBR's and ET's fetish for photographing food which made me change my settings to images off. Not a criticism, just a fact. And I've been a happier IlX0r ever since.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Sunday, 4 December 2005 05:38 (eighteen years ago) link

"fetish" wtf, you ppl act like you've never seen pictures of food before.

The Great Pagoda of Funn (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 4 December 2005 05:39 (eighteen years ago) link

i take pictures of buildings too, why is that not a "fetish"?

The Great Pagoda of Funn (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 4 December 2005 05:40 (eighteen years ago) link

It's nothing bad, it's just a quirk I noticed. I don't know a lot of people who seem to take pictures of what they and their dining companions eat as much as you do.

Abbadabba Berman (Hurting), Sunday, 4 December 2005 05:45 (eighteen years ago) link

that last photo kinda looks like a fried scrotum
