It's probably not fair to pick on Matthew since he doesn't post here anymore, but this is a case of someone completely missing what's so great about a particular show.

I can see his point, and there were problems with the premise of this episode, but it was still really, really funny so I don't really mind. xpost

Chang killed it all episode.

Perpetua being astoundingly wrong shocker.

Community is special in a way that I can appreciate what the characters are doing and, in a completely separate way, appreciate what the actors are doing within the parameters of the show. When there's a more "normal" episode, I laugh at Troy or Abed or Chang, but in an episode like this, I'm laughing at Donald Glover or Danny Pudi or Ken Jeong having a great time making a tv show.

Thinking of South Park

Fantastic episode. The cat flying across the basement had me rolling. And kudos for completely ruining the Lady Gaga costume joke on The Office.

I love how they keep taking shots at Shatner too.

Dean Pelton's Lady Gaga costume was soooo much better than Gabe's.

It also just made more sense; of COURSE Dean Pelton would go as Lady Gaga. Gabe's character isn't interesting enough for him dressing up as Lady Gaga to elicit anything more than a "Oh. Hm." If that.

And Pelton's seemed less professional/we-have-a-TV-budget than Gabe's.

yeah, you would think that it would get old, but it's a testament to how great a show it is that after decades of south park/simpsons/family guy 5 parodies per episode, these writers still manage to find fresh ways to pull it off.

Dean Pelton's Lady Gaga costume was soooo much better than Gabe's.

Oh yeah, so much better. And it did make MUCH more sense. I do have to admit, though, that I actually laughed out loud at The Office this week. More than I have yet this season and most of last season too. The cold open with Stanley was lol and so much better than the forced memes they've been playing with.

Back to the topic at hand though, its killing me that I can't remember where the "I love you" - "I know" reference is from. I know I should know that one. Donald Glover's timing is perfect. His "I have no idea why I thought this would work" switch was so great, as was his "sexy Dracula" costume.

Community is more about the parody of movie cliches than specific films.

Ratings were up because of the Shrek lead-in. Around the same numbers as 30 Rock normally gets, so that's good. The next episode's drop will be important.

Loved this! The cat joke was so well done...and the Abba soundtrack throughout was soooo lol!!!

NBC just ordered two additional eps this season, bringing the total to 24. Hooray!

The Abba soundtrack was the icing on the cake.

Glad they ordered those before they saw the drop in ratings post-Shrek special lead-in.

I love Community, but damn is NBC desperate if they're ordering a full season and additional episodes.

Trying to remember where I red it but apparently Community pays for itself in DVD sales not on first run and NBC use online viewing figures as a predictor of this. This is good as the first run ratings are shocking.

I'm gonna ask for Community DVDs for Christmas then
