I read another article that did specify they'd hide people who you previously had set to In A Relationship With on fb so yeah, does nothing for romances over 4-5 years old..

You should be able to retrospectively add relationships in a similar way to how you add previous employers and school/college history.

They really should develop this option.

The only person I ever *have* been "in a relationship* on fb with still comes up regularly on my memories feed, so bollox to that claim, FB. We're still mates and still post on each others walls and shit tho so I dunno.

What's difficult for FB as a company, I would think, is that the things people say they want from the site are balanced out by other things people want but don't express, and are contradictory e.g. "Respect my privacy, FB (but don't take away the fun of snooping on friends and strangers plz)" or "introduce more features and open up the site more (but don't let it become "like myspace")"

Thin lines.

Cunga, Wednesday, 20 October 2010 23:42 (fifteen years ago)

I don't even have a damn memories feed.

Kerm, Wednesday, 20 October 2010 23:56 (fifteen years ago)

Its not its own page, it just slews photos down the righthand side on some random pages, kind of like it does with ads or events or "you might know this person". Its seems a bit random as to where it displays it.

Kid died videotaping Notre Dame's football practice. His last words are in the pic.

Extremely windy on campus today. Apparently the tower he was up on blew over into the road and he was killed. Check out his last two facebook statuses. Terrible.

Was leaving a "Happy Birthday" comment on a friend's wall today when I discovered what I guess is a new slightly creepy feature called "see friendship". This button (which appears w/your post on some walls) takes you to a page containing indexes of every wall post you've made w/that friend (and vice versa), every mutual friend, every mutual "like", every relevant photo you've appeared in or commented on, every event you attended together, and links for similar pages for both you and other friends, and other couplings of your friends.

I should also note this is not limited to your own friends, as you can also pull up pages for friends of friends.

stop having crushes and your problem will disappear

markers, Saturday, 30 October 2010 20:46 (fifteen years ago)

there are worse problems tbh

sarahel, Saturday, 30 October 2010 20:48 (fifteen years ago)

So yesterday I see my good friend's girlfriend/fiance on the newsfeed and think "I haven't seen or heard from her in ages, I wonder how she's doing!"

And sure enough she's now in a relationship with another dude, and I do the whole whatisthis Idonteven thing. What's strange was that my friend lives in the mid-west now, but I talked to him a few weeks ago and he made it sound like they were still together, and now, well, she's out of our lives.

Cunga, Saturday, 30 October 2010 21:41 (fifteen years ago)

OK I'm now seeing this see friendship link too. If you go to someone tou knows profile there's a "view you and X!" link. And it gathers together every wall post, comment, tag, and anything else you had wit that person.

All on one tidy page.

OK, am I the only one that thinks this is just a bit beyond the pale?

yeah i have it now too

(♥_♥) http://i46.tinypic.com/monk6.jpg (roxymuzak), Sunday, 31 October 2010 18:12 (fifteen years ago)

omg it says "browse friendships" and you can look at other people's

(♥_♥) http://i46.tinypic.com/monk6.jpg (roxymuzak), Sunday, 31 October 2010 18:13 (fifteen years ago)

Yeah. Sure are a lot of Happy Birthdays Facebook has archived.

http://tinyurl.com/beaaarrr (Pleasant Plains), Sunday, 31 October 2010 19:06 (fifteen years ago)

I don't really see the problem with looking at your own - they already had wall-to-wall histories available, and in 'photos' you could look at 'you and x'. But yeah, not sure about being able to browse other people's.

emil.y, Sunday, 31 October 2010 19:13 (fifteen years ago)

You can only see other people's who you could see anyway, it seems. If someone's locked to friends only views, no FOAFs are gonna see anything thru those links, nor are complete unknowns. I mean in a way it's kind of a neat archive.

What's with this Not Now thing for friend requests? Why is there no Not Ever? I've had to reject the same person 3 times now.

Not Now is the compromise for those of us who've been clamoring for an "I'm Not Entirely Sure" option

Why don't you just add them? Who cares?

The reverse TARDIS of pasta (Niles Caulder), Monday, 1 November 2010 10:38 (fifteen years ago)

Uh. Not wanting complete strangers to see your profile/posts/shit perhaps?

Sunn O))) Sundae Smile (Trayce), Monday, 1 November 2010 10:39 (fifteen years ago)

Oh yeah, true. Dunno why people'd post things they're worried abt people seeing, tho.

The reverse TARDIS of pasta (Niles Caulder), Monday, 1 November 2010 10:49 (fifteen years ago)

Well sure, but still.

Sunn O))) Sundae Smile (Trayce), Monday, 1 November 2010 10:57 (fifteen years ago)

Same reason you email people and don't just post it all on a blog?

stet, Monday, 1 November 2010 11:56 (fifteen years ago)

While I'm moaning about FB - how long has it been possible to just add someone else to a group? Instead of inviting them? Cos that's really pissed me off today as well. Now I'm getting spammed by people I don't know in a group I didn't join. Obv I can just leave the group, but wtf?

a fucking stove just fell on my foot. (Colonel Poo), Monday, 1 November 2010 16:27 (fifteen years ago)

people have been able to add you to groups w/o your consent since they recently relaunched groups

But there is an "I'm Not Entirely Sure" option - it's called not doing anything about it. Or are there people that feel compelled to respond to everything?
