Also, all the amphibians in Wonder Pets have minstrel voices. Tuck the Turtle has been known to bust out a Oh Mammy "You know dats right!" kind of line in the middle of a song. And you should've heard the Louisiana Bullfrog who was too fat to get down to the swamp to visit his grand-tadpoles.

I can't believe jagoff RNC dude who got caught putting that on his year end mix CD is trying to pass it off as "satire aimed at the LA Times"... Because to get that point across you DEFINITELY have to do Al Sharpton's voice like he's doing "Camptown Races" in 1860

Our ceramic statues are 10 inches tall with a fine gloss glaze. The blood drop logo is applied after the glazing process. The blood drop signifies our blood heritage and the sacrificial blood of Christ that redeemed us from our sins. These are hand poured one at a time and then kiln dried and glazed twice over a 32 hour period and are of excellent quality.

The statue comes with or without lighted eyes and makes a nice display item and is also great as a gift or collectors item. The Lighted Statues come with on/off switch and light bulb.

chicken

catfish

tokyo rosemary, Thursday, 12 February 2009 16:28 (seventeen years ago)

i just think in the grand taxonomy of racial weirdness this aligns a lot more closely to, say, 'insensitivity' than straight-out racism--i imagine that for chinese new year theyd have the same kind of ad with, like, dumplings; or for italy day theyd do it with pasta--which strikes me as this kind of misguided "look at the culinary cultural heritage of group XXX" (esp. considering the context w/ all the facts about things black dudes have contributed to the grocery industry and the generally very positive light w/ which the ad treats black history month) and not so much "lol its negro history month lets put fried chicken on the menu"--i mean its collard greens and pork hocks, which arent exactly watermelons and grape soda, you know?

max, Thursday, 12 February 2009 16:29 (seventeen years ago)

eh fried chicken is sort of o_O--lot more baggage attached to that stereotype in America than with pasta + Italians or dumplings + Chinese people.
