BORING

Str8 Drapin It (chrisv2010), Tuesday, 26 October 2010 14:19 (fifteen years ago)

"I would rather put a campfire out with my face."

lol it's amazing how much I've come around to Deb since the first season.

quinn though... ugh. the actor played a similarly skeezy character on gossip girl - dude makes my skin crawl.

Roz, Wednesday, 27 October 2010 03:38 (fifteen years ago)

i keep thinking he's the secret son of ray liotta.

just1n3, Wednesday, 27 October 2010 03:57 (fifteen years ago)

I just finished Season 4 today and basically had the same reaction as Abbott, I assumed I'd dig it more than 3 cuz Lithgow >>>>>> Smits, but I actually found Dexter's dancing with Smits for a whole season a lot more entertaining/gradually rewarding. Was pretty underwhelmed when he finally got around to putting JL on the table.

da croupier, Wednesday, 27 October 2010 04:19 (fifteen years ago)

Love that Batista's shield looks like a heart in that cartoon, apt.

da croupier, Wednesday, 27 October 2010 04:20 (fifteen years ago)

also did they ever really explain why/how Lithgow had a kid before his current family?

da croupier, Wednesday, 27 October 2010 04:21 (fifteen years ago)

creeping feeling of worry/dread that julia stiles is going to repeat the shitty shitty smits plot arc. which will get real boring real fucking fast

O_o-O_0-o_O (jjjusten), Wednesday, 27 October 2010 15:33 (fifteen years ago)

nope they left that entire story about lithgows first kid out. WTF.

Str8 Drapin It (chrisv2010), Wednesday, 27 October 2010 15:35 (fifteen years ago)

Don't you know how babies are made?

thirdalternative, Thursday, 28 October 2010 13:22 (fifteen years ago)

Yes, through writer contrivance. I just missed it if they established that he had a previous fake happy family before his current one or what.

da croupier, Thursday, 28 October 2010 14:48 (fifteen years ago)

He seemed so obsessed with family values and having a perfect family that it rang false to me that he would father a child with some woman (or wife?) and then leave.

romoing my damn eyes (Nicole), Thursday, 28 October 2010 15:06 (fifteen years ago)

Seriously, couldn't they have cut a few "I'm disappointed in you, Dexter" scenes with his dad to detail Trinity's backstory? Especially if they're going to make his bastard/abandoned/whothefuckknows daughter such an integral part of the season? It's funny this is the season that got all of the attention/accolades when it easily felt like the sloppiest.

da croupier, Thursday, 28 October 2010 15:45 (fifteen years ago)

That said, I will never complain about soulful romantic interludes with Sgt. Batista

da croupier, Thursday, 28 October 2010 15:45 (fifteen years ago)

im a wee bit tired of the batista laguerta shit

Str8 Drapin It (chrisv2010), Thursday, 28 October 2010 15:56 (fifteen years ago)

whoa, what happened to Peter Weller? i like where that's going though!

Nhex, Thursday, 28 October 2010 18:22 (fifteen years ago)

man when the writers on this show suck, they suck hard.

ie - the whole scene close on internal affairs dude saying "so hey whats all this i hear about how awesome ur blowjobs are" *wink wink* to set up the "suprise" IA bust in the hotel room. how exactly was that imaginary conversation supposed to go, you lazy chumps?

O_o-O_0-o_O (jjjusten), Thursday, 28 October 2010 19:30 (fifteen years ago)

or the whole convenient ankle bracelet thing that obv makes it impossible for dude to have gone to whathisnames house, but apparently does absolutely nothing when dex drugs him and drags him off to the middle of the woods to slice and dice.

O_o-O_0-o_O (jjjusten), Thursday, 28 October 2010 19:33 (fifteen years ago)

i thought the idea was that he would be tracked via the ankle bracelet as well, since he was out of the bridge area (bringing the police straight to them), hence the quick return

Nhex, Thursday, 28 October 2010 19:35 (fifteen years ago)

What do you guys think about Julia Stiles as season 5's companion?

Mordy, Tuesday, 2 November 2010 13:52 (fifteen years ago)

i think julia stiles sux. she conveys the same "inflection" in her voice whether she is upset, angry..what ever. dexter and companions dont go so smooth...see smits.

Str8 Drapin It (chrisv2010), Tuesday, 2 November 2010 14:26 (fifteen years ago)

yeah i agree, dexter doesn't do 'buddy seasons' so well

NI, Tuesday, 2 November 2010 14:37 (fifteen years ago)

This is getting ridic even for dexter! The double body crime scene fabricated in 30 second? Ugh!

tehresa, Tuesday, 2 November 2010 16:29 (fifteen years ago)

You know a show is good when the hardcore original fans start to hate on it, happens everytime, just like with a band.

thirdalternative, Tuesday, 2 November 2010 16:36 (fifteen years ago)

^ apparently has Attack of The Clones running silently while listening to Weezer's Hurley

That said, I kinda loved the Smits season. maybe I'd been prepped by all the criticism, but it was nice to have Smits actually playing a guy we're supposed to find insufferable and annoying, as opposed to some sexy Supreme Court Justice turned sexy renegade lawyer nonsense.

da croupier, Tuesday, 2 November 2010 17:00 (fifteen years ago)

he was annoying as fuck.

Str8 Drapin It (chrisv2010), Tuesday, 2 November 2010 17:09 (fifteen years ago)

i don't think this current season is terrible by any measure and probably better than 2+3 (4 + 1 still being reigning champs + especially 4).

Mordy, Tuesday, 2 November 2010 17:15 (fifteen years ago)

he was annoying as fuck.

It seemed like he was inviting Dexter over to dinner more nights of the week than not! Watching Dexter react to that kind of overbearing behavior was pretty awesome imo. Plus they kinda mapped out his character a lot more than they did Trinity, while still leaving some mystery as to just how crazy he was.

da croupier, Tuesday, 2 November 2010 17:29 (fifteen years ago)

although i did love dexters reaction when lumen yelled "fuck you" at him.

Str8 Drapin It (chrisv2010), Tuesday, 2 November 2010 17:34 (fifteen years ago)

I am always surprised by the hate for the Smits season from hardcore Dexter fans. I thought he was great, hilarious, and over the top in a good way. Loved the way he'd yell "Ellen WOLFE!" And he and Dexter's rooftop confrontation was awesome.

thirdalternative, Tuesday, 2 November 2010 19:19 (fifteen years ago)

i think julia stiles sux. she conveys the same "inflection" in her voice whether she is upset, angry..

Agreed. Her acting in this season so far is pretty tone-deaf - almost as if she's playing the Kristen Wiig parody version of her character.

Stockhausen's Helicopter Quartet (Elvis Telecom), Tuesday, 2 November 2010 20:12 (fifteen years ago)

yeah she's not good. unfortunately, she's not hamming it up enough to be amusing, either, which is the way to go on Dexter.

Nhex, Thursday, 4 November 2010 09:03 (fifteen years ago)

just really boring this season.

Str8 Drapin It (chrisv2010), Thursday, 4 November 2010 13:55 (fifteen years ago)

I just watched this week's episode - not amazing, but at least entertaining in a traditional Dexter action episode. Matsuka had a great moment.

Nhex, Thursday, 4 November 2010 22:37 (fifteen years ago)

lol'd hard at: "He doesn't need Saint Bridget. He has Father Dexter."

Mordy, Tuesday, 9 November 2010 23:00 (fifteen years ago)

"shit a brick and fuck me with it."

these words were actually spoken. oh, deb.

tehresa, Wednesday, 10 November 2010 13:36 (fifteen years ago)

the dialogue in this show is really so bad it's good

Mordy, Wednesday, 10 November 2010 13:54 (fifteen years ago)

why do they keep doing dexter and a buddy seasons...CUT THE SHIT ALREADY.

Str8 Drapin It (chrisv2010), Wednesday, 10 November 2010 14:51 (fifteen years ago)

I have to admit I'm a LOT more amused by their romantic screwball team-up than everything Smits. Now that things are happening again in the show it's a lot more tolerable.

Nhex, Wednesday, 10 November 2010 23:28 (fifteen years ago)

Objectively, I don't feel like this show has gotten a lot worse, but the more I watch of this season the more I hate all of it retroactively. I am even turning on characters I once liked, like Deb. It's like I got so pissed at how shitty season four was that it poisoned the whole Dexter universe for me.

get off my lawn (rockapads), Wednesday, 10 November 2010 23:42 (fifteen years ago)

baffled, confused and annoyed by the way the writers made laguerta into a sympathetic character then all of a sudden she becomes an incompetent corrupt hateful dick. and convinces the up-and-coming hispanic female cop to join her in her scheme to screw over deb. feels weird, racist and sexist all in one.

NI, Thursday, 18 November 2010 10:38 (fifteen years ago)

i think the scheme was less about screwing over deb and more about saving her own ass.

tehresa, Thursday, 18 November 2010 23:47 (fifteen years ago)

But it's still a weird turnaround for LaGuerta's character... especially after all the season 3 time spent with her and the defense attorney.

Stockhausen's Helicopter Quartet (Elvis Telecom), Friday, 19 November 2010 00:03 (fifteen years ago)

deb is all time most hated for me. awful actress and awful writing.

predict lumen kills robocop and has to flee the state, taking the heat off dexter. I hope she gets killed though.

reckon you should stfu (bnw), Friday, 19 November 2010 00:06 (fifteen years ago)

i stopped watching this a few weeks back - should i bother catching up or just leave it be?

bork bork dudes get swagged out, literally (tpp), Friday, 19 November 2010 00:09 (fifteen years ago)
