I want to stage a parody of this ad, with both of them in S&M gear.

Some gender reversal would be fun, too.
"If she ever finds out... you've been a bad bad boy and let your dick drip..."

Dear investors, Thank you for sending the office the largest Godiva gift basket I have ever seen. So far my favorites are the dark chocolate covered pretzels and the dark chocolate truffles. Love, me

"Hoodia XPF" sounds like a fake crotch-rocket style motorcycle.

I'm filling out my updated W-4 for this year, and it looks like I'll need to withhold $40 extra per paycheck because I'm married. WHUT?
― KitCat, Friday, 14 December 2007 16:58 (eighteen years ago)
I wrote to richard simmons when I was in 6th grade. I was hoping he could help my dad.
― sweet tater, Friday, 14 December 2007 17:04 (eighteen years ago)
Was your Dad overweight or do you just mean help him in general?
― KitCat, Friday, 14 December 2007 17:04 (eighteen years ago)
As a spiritual guru perhaps?
― KitCat, Friday, 14 December 2007 17:05 (eighteen years ago)
Help him acknowledge his homosexuality?
― kenan, Friday, 14 December 2007 17:05 (eighteen years ago)
He was and is overweight. I had read Richard Simmons' autobiography (part of a months long kick of autobiography reading - I also read vanna white's) and after that I thought that if I wrote him he would feel inspired to reach out to my dad.

FYI: Richard Simmons is a really good person to pick if you're playing 20 Questions with someone. Kr was trying to get me to guess him and I could just not figure it out: he's an "entertainer" but he's not an actor or comedian or singer or anything like that.
― jaymc, Friday, 14 December 2007 17:06 (eighteen years ago)
that's an excellent point john!
― sweet tater, Friday, 14 December 2007 17:07 (eighteen years ago)
I already gave this link to john, but here's my final piece from my sound art class if anyone is interested.
http://blog.lib.umn.edu/willow/soundart/2007/12/kelsey_dilts_mcgregor_final_pr.html
there's a link right before my required summation of the piece.

Oh, I want to hear that when I'm in a place where I can hear that!
Hey, no one-day CTA strike.
― Eazy, Friday, 14 December 2007 17:14 (eighteen years ago)
Whew.
― KitCat, Friday, 14 December 2007 17:17 (eighteen years ago)
Ah, I was kind of looking forward to the strike, since we'd either get the day off or I could work from home.
― jaymc, Friday, 14 December 2007 17:22 (eighteen years ago)
That would be nice, wouldn't it? Like a snow day! I wish public transportation were that essential in Minneapolis.
― sweet tater, Friday, 14 December 2007 17:23 (eighteen years ago)
how was the christmas party, n&s?
nick, did you like margot at the wedding?
we saw "i'm not there". the parts that i didn't like were more than the parts that i did like, which isn't great. if the only parts they'd shown had been cate blanchett and heath ledger as dylan, i probably would have liked it a lot. but i hated the gere part so so so much, that really took away from it. i almost went out to read in the bar at that point. cate blanchett was fucking amazing, i have to say.
and i love that cinema as well.

I posted on Chicagoist for the first time to ask what is up with the store called Be By Baby:
http://chicagoist.com/2007/12/14/babyonboard_rev_18.php
― jaymc, Friday, 14 December 2007 17:24 (eighteen years ago)
I think it's a mesh of "by by baby" and "be my baby" but i can't be bothered to log in & tell you that there.
― sweet tater, Friday, 14 December 2007 17:26 (eighteen years ago)
all in all, it's not a great name.
― sweet tater, Friday, 14 December 2007 17:27 (eighteen years ago)
although, they did say that the women are into attachment parenting, so maybe "Be by baby" is literally "don't go far! be by baby!"
I had not even thought of that.
― jaymc, Friday, 14 December 2007 17:28 (eighteen years ago)
Makin' feel dumb over here, D1lts.
And it's baby talk!
― Eazy, Friday, 14 December 2007 17:30 (eighteen years ago)
Bo bay ban boo bee By ba bon's bearly bight...

― Eazy, Friday, 14 December 2007 17:31 (eighteen years ago)
Dey've got a code in dere nodse.
― dan m, Friday, 14 December 2007 17:33 (eighteen years ago)
I wonder if their attachment parenting beliefs extend to fathers.
― KitCat, Friday, 14 December 2007 17:36 (eighteen years ago)
The name of this store would go over great with the Teletubbies demo.
― Eazy, Friday, 14 December 2007 17:37 (eighteen years ago)
If I hear one more woman referring to her husband's watching the kids as 'baby sitting'... WOAH BE UNTO THEM!
― KitCat, Friday, 14 December 2007 17:40 (eighteen years ago)
Yeah, that's gross. It's called "being a parent."
― jaymc, Friday, 14 December 2007 17:41 (eighteen years ago)
Totally.
― KitCat, Friday, 14 December 2007 17:41 (eighteen years ago)
I wasn't trying to make you feel dumb, J!!! I was just processing the name myself. I stand by the "it's a dumb name" statement, though.
― sweet tater, Friday, 14 December 2007 17:44 (eighteen years ago)
margot at the wedding was pretty good but i would have liked it more if i hadn't seen squid and the whale. they are very similar in tone, story, characters, etc., pretty much the only big change is that the jeff daniels part is played by a woman (nicole kidman) and it is in a more rural setting. and it just paled in comparison to squid and the whale. but the acting was excellent and there were some good lines and scenes. my favorite part was dialogueless - when kidman is up in the tree and just looking around at the things.
i was literally the only person in the theater under the age of 65. Many patrons seemed more in the mid-70s range. Guess that's to be expected if you go see a movie in evanston at 3:00 on a Thursday.
― n/a, Friday, 14 December 2007 17:48 (eighteen years ago)
I know, I just don't know if I would've posted on Chicagoist if I'd made that connection!
― jaymc, Friday, 14 December 2007 17:48 (eighteen years ago)
i sometimes refer a mom or a dad watching the kid as babysitting.
― Jordan, Friday, 14 December 2007 17:51 (eighteen years ago)
post a reply!
― sweet tater, Friday, 14 December 2007 17:52 (eighteen years ago)
that part where she was in the tree was really great in the sense that it caused both me and toby to panic a little bit.
― colette, Friday, 14 December 2007 18:54 (eighteen years ago)
