I fucking adore Achewood -- got hooked after reading The Great Outdoor Fight story last winter. Ray and Roast Beef in particular are unsettlingly real to me, for internet cartoon cats. LOVED the strip a few days ago where they found the guy who invented Comic Sans.

Are the printed editions that were supposed to begin dropping last year still coming? Anyone like sic know why the Fantagraphics series petered out so soon?

The complete collections were due to start in June 2020; one can only guess at forces that may have delayed the first one, especially if the editor was traveling to the US to work on it.

Dark Horse did the fizzled-out hardcovers. Onstad is selling the original tape-bound books for $225-250 rn, and dropped a new issue of Beef’s zine in 2020.

Thanks sic. Why did the Dark Horse hardcovers fizzle out? Lack of sales, or did Onstad give up on them first?

I did start making weird faces when I read this, though
