i got Gordian Knot after much searching for freeware - ripped to VBO - now i just need to know what to use to convert that to divx, that's not more complicated than it should be to use.

every time I've tried to do this I wind up with audio synch errors. I have some programs at home I'll mention when I get back there and see if anyone else has luck with them.

it didn't attach the audio at all but then i've been bombarded with options and i can't believe it's really this complicated - must be an easier way.

Do those programs work around 'copy protection' or not? The ones I've tried have all told me I can't copy DVDs that are protected. Very annoying.

If you are using windows dvddecrypter is the best. It strips out region, copy protection, lets you rip to image or the vobs. It is great. http://www.dvddecrypter.com/
