I think it's weird that Blue Bottle wouldn't be considered local when most of their coffee retail establishments are in SF and I'm pretty sure the principle owner lives here as well. It's not like they are incorporated in Delaware or anything.

btw i just assume that all the anti-cart agitation is being stirred up by operatives of the Bi-Rite/Dolores Park Cafe/Delfina/Faye's operatives.
seriously there is real money at stake for the 18th Street Gang and there needs to be a fair opportunity for everyone to submit proposals on a public contract but to focus ire on the vendors is, like, everything that's wrong with "activism".
totally down for shasta figs tho
― all yoga attacks are fire based (rogermexico.), Thursday, 7 October 2010 20:23 (fifteen years ago)

― all yoga attacks are fire based (rogermexico.), Thursday, 7 October 2010 20:24 (fifteen years ago)
yes! Faye's coffee rules. Plus most people in Dolores Park could use a little exercise and could use a little block and a half jaunt.
― Fartbritz Sootzveti (Steve Shasta), Thursday, 7 October 2010 20:29 (fifteen years ago)
Tartine's coffee is also great btw.
xp - i wonder if "could use a little exercise" is BART and MUNI's rationale for service cuts and all around mediocrity
― sarahel, Thursday, 7 October 2010 20:31 (fifteen years ago)
There was a mother and her infant on my train home yesterday and the kid started to cry and wouldn't stop. At one point I turned to one of the other passangers and said, "MUNI makes me feel that way a lot, too."

I didn't realize that the money from these leases would go into the city's general fund rather than Dolores Park or Park & Rec. If that's true it is kind of lame.

annie and i were talking yesterday about this, and i think i concluded that tartine does the best job with four barrel coffee, and is probably my favorite coffee in the mission. i think it's like this for me, among the places i ever go for coffee:
tartine > ritual > atlas > dynamo > grand > little spot.
oakland's modern coffee (my every-morning spot) is pretty great, too. probably runnin even w atlas in the above ranking.
― 69, Wednesday, 20 October 2010 19:23 (fifteen years ago)
<3 tartine, but they do a better job with four barrel coffee than four barrel does?
― bike chain dust? (lukas), Wednesday, 20 October 2010 19:24 (fifteen years ago)
only time i had four barrel at four barrel, i was like ehh. but that was just once.
― 69, Wednesday, 20 October 2010 19:25 (fifteen years ago)
Four Barrel does a great job with Four Barrel coffee, but I always get americanos there so maybe they do a less good job with their press/drips.
Dynamo Donuts does the best job with Dynamo Donuts.</controversial statement>
― Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 20 October 2010 19:28 (fifteen years ago)
Four Barrel is also my favorite space out of all of these places.
Admittedly there is no space at Tartine or Ritual so that kind bias it in their favor.
― Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 20 October 2010 19:29 (fifteen years ago)
xxxp fair enough.
i like how they clearly spent $$$ to renovate and have the ridiculous affectation of leaving the previous tenant's half-broken sign in place, making it look like an empty storefront from half a block away.
― bike chain dust? (lukas), Wednesday, 20 October 2010 19:29 (fifteen years ago)
On a related, but not really, topic: the Blue Bottle @ the Mint is maybe one of the worst organized up establishments I have even been to. The line takes forever and for no good reason as far as I can tell.

MissionRat says:I personally am glad that we can go to the Summit to enjoy Blue Bottle and keep Dolores Park beautiful and a commercial free zone. There are plenty of brick and mortar spaces that are empty and need renters. I personally am glad that I get to continue doing yoga every morning like I have for the past 5 years in the park without interruption and long lines surrounding me. If James Freeman needs to come out looking like the "good guy" then so be it.Posted On: Tuesday, Oct. 19 2010 @ 5:02PM
