o rly. thought it was horrible.

cutty, Tuesday, 28 September 2010 15:45 (fifteen years ago)

yeah. super weak. espesh compared with the other ep at barney's mum's house.

l'avventura: pet detective (history mayne), Tuesday, 28 September 2010 23:09 (fifteen years ago)

Was the other ep with his mom the one where he had a fake wife and kids? Because I hated that and it was way over the line as far as plausibility goes, even for a Barney episode.

Jouster, Wednesday, 29 September 2010 08:42 (fifteen years ago)

yeah it was

who gives a shit about plausibility?!

that ep was hilares

l'avventura: pet detective (history mayne), Wednesday, 29 September 2010 08:45 (fifteen years ago)

this ep wasnt v funny at all

just sayin, Wednesday, 29 September 2010 09:07 (fifteen years ago)

i was amused by it enough. also liked the S2-style laidback ted and robin shenanigans

Nhex, Wednesday, 29 September 2010 16:18 (fifteen years ago)

last one to air here in england was the funniest in a while, if only for the seinfeld-esque collision of the pickpocket, ted's model, the doll collection and the paper aeroplanes.

koogs, Sunday, 3 October 2010 19:55 (fifteen years ago)

ok that was LOLz

cutty, Tuesday, 12 October 2010 16:53 (fifteen years ago)

ya classic himym imo

Liked how Barney perving on crying chick was actually setup for the end of the episode. also "Marshall v the Machine"!

Roz, Tuesday, 12 October 2010 19:20 (fifteen years ago)

classic material

usually when they say something will happen in a few months, it does. be p surprised if they got woody allen tho.

rmde @ the romo dumplings (history mayne), Tuesday, 12 October 2010 21:49 (fifteen years ago)

yeah, really good one!

Nhex, Wednesday, 13 October 2010 03:52 (fifteen years ago)

good set up for an extended douchey ted scene, 'here's a fun fact…'

j., Wednesday, 13 October 2010 04:42 (fifteen years ago)

robin was looking fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine in this.

O holy ruler of ILF (a hoy hoy), Tuesday, 19 October 2010 23:33 (fifteen years ago)

Jennifer Morrison, though, not so much. Why do you keep doing this, HIMYM?

Nhex, Wednesday, 20 October 2010 05:47 (fifteen years ago)

keep doing what?

O holy ruler of ILF (a hoy hoy), Wednesday, 20 October 2010 06:01 (fifteen years ago)

In addition, she will join the cast of CBS' How I Met Your Mother as recurring character Zooey Van Smoot, a mischievous architecture nerd and love interest of lead Josh Radnor's Ted Mosby, and “the biggest female character we’ve maybe ever added to the show in Ted’s life”, according to executive producer Craig Thomas.[7][8][9]

ooh, never knew she was recurring.

O holy ruler of ILF (a hoy hoy), Wednesday, 20 October 2010 06:03 (fifteen years ago)

intentionally killing the attractiveness of many fine actresses - i mean with Cobie it's actually a running gag at this point

Nhex, Wednesday, 20 October 2010 06:05 (fifteen years ago)

i wonder if they're going to make her a scion of the famed van smoot family (from the pre-wedding episodes).

j., Wednesday, 20 October 2010 06:12 (fifteen years ago)

good catch, looks like they've used that name a lot on the show, from googling. maybe it'll turn out Michael York will be her father...

Nhex, Wednesday, 20 October 2010 06:32 (fifteen years ago)

tara lols via meta and singing

O holy ruler of ILF (a hoy hoy), Tuesday, 26 October 2010 09:55 (fifteen years ago)

"Coming up, a Manhattan architect gets punched in the throat!" + cut to Ted holding his throat = IRL lolz

Tub Girl Time Machine (Phil D.), Tuesday, 26 October 2010 16:34 (fifteen years ago)

yeah, that was beautiful

Nhex, Tuesday, 26 October 2010 18:05 (fifteen years ago)

OK, Ted and Robin's dead-eyed car alarm singalong was one of the single best things I've ever seen on this show

some dude, Tuesday, 2 November 2010 00:16 (fifteen years ago)

last night's was the best one in AGES. Funny enough but also maintained a good balance with the more serious character stuff. Marshall's corporate self was finally (and nicely) dealt with. Barney's story was pretty funny but they turned the screw at the end which was good. Even if I'm not convinced by Dr. Cameron or what role she plays, it was alright too. And The Captain worked.

Gukbe, Tuesday, 9 November 2010 16:08 (fifteen years ago)

basically it accomplished a lot without ever feeling like it was trying too hard.

Gukbe, Tuesday, 9 November 2010 16:08 (fifteen years ago)

yeah...I have kind of deliberately avoided whining in this thread when I haven't been real into new episodes, but I haven't really been feeling the magic much for a while, and last night was like a perfect crystallization of everything I like about this show.

deej otm (some dude), Tuesday, 9 November 2010 16:10 (fifteen years ago)

haha also thank you for finally helping me figure out who the girl is, was really bugging me that i couldn't remember where i knew her from and kept forgetting to google it

deej otm (some dude), Tuesday, 9 November 2010 16:10 (fifteen years ago)

So, how distracting was Alyson Hannigan's cleavage in the scene where she's talking to Extinct Marshall?

Tub Girl Time Machine (Phil D.), Tuesday, 9 November 2010 16:38 (fifteen years ago)

Jennifer Morrison, yowza.

boots get knocked from here to czechoslovakier (milo z), Tuesday, 9 November 2010 18:05 (fifteen years ago)

my wife and I were both kind of fixated on Hannigan's dress the entire episode

deej otm (some dude), Tuesday, 9 November 2010 18:11 (fifteen years ago)

it was pretty nice

Nhex, Wednesday, 10 November 2010 01:30 (fifteen years ago)

good ep

why the heck did that video uploader flip the image horizontally?

Nhex, Tuesday, 16 November 2010 17:38 (fifteen years ago)

So the automatic copyright infringement bots that scan YouTube won't recognize it.

Great episode. Barney's list of reality show exit catchphrases had me rolling.

Michael F Gill, Wednesday, 17 November 2010 03:30 (fifteen years ago)

Enjoyable enough episode. Could have done without the Lost references.

It did strike me that the premise was the kind of thing that this show does better than pretty much any other sitcom, which is the neurosis of a late-20s/early-30s mind. I'm struggling to think of previous examples, but an episode based around the feeling that if you leave the party early, you'll miss out on the awesome stuff, even if you don't feel like being there anymore. I wish it had wrapped into the Zoe narrative in some way, or in the larger theme of the end better. I feel like 3 or 4 years ago the writers would have knocked it out of the park, where here they're just serving the premise adequately enough. Maybe I've got rose-coloured glasses though.

Gukbe, Tuesday, 23 November 2010 20:46 (fifteen years ago)

Ha, the Lost references were my favourite part.

EveningStar (Sund4r), Tuesday, 23 November 2010 21:04 (fifteen years ago)

Is the "gentlemen" thing a reference to something else?

EveningStar (Sund4r), Tuesday, 23 November 2010 21:15 (fifteen years ago)

The Aristrocrats?
