Just now?
I feel like watching a zombie movie.
― KitCat, Thursday, 13 December 2007 22:17 (eighteen years ago)
Have you ever seen a movie where a zombie eats him/her-self?
Not a zombie, no.
― kenan, Thursday, 13 December 2007 22:18 (eighteen years ago)
I'll ask Maddie if that's ever happened in a zombie movie.
― Jordan, Thursday, 13 December 2007 22:18 (eighteen years ago)
I love seeing Maddie's flickr pix. She has such awesome goth get-ups. I hope that isn't a creepy thing to say (unlike saying I'd eat my own arm).
― KitCat, Thursday, 13 December 2007 22:20 (eighteen years ago)
Sarah, if you ever find yourself in a version of Se7en, eating your own arm will we your ironic torture for the deadly sin of thinking you're a fattay.
― kenan, Thursday, 13 December 2007 22:21 (eighteen years ago)
She stopped by today to show me her fake hair. It looked pretty good.
― Jordan, Thursday, 13 December 2007 22:22 (eighteen years ago)
Me out. Happy almost Friday! Don't have nightmares on my account!
― KitCat, Thursday, 13 December 2007 22:24 (eighteen years ago)
I'm off to fatten up my arm.
mmm... marbled
― kenan, Thursday, 13 December 2007 22:26 (eighteen years ago)
i guess it would be weird if sarah's other arm was totally fat-free
― Jordan, Thursday, 13 December 2007 22:27 (eighteen years ago)
Both of Sarah's arms are already fat free, I think is the point.

i have not actually been to the california clipper. does it have the nfl network? i figure it probably doesn't.
― stingy, Thursday, 13 December 2007 22:46 (eighteen years ago)
oh for fuck's sake...
stingy, it might.
― chicago kevin, Thursday, 13 December 2007 22:49 (eighteen years ago)
I actually don't remember TVs at the Clipper at all, though it's probably been at least a year since I've been there.
― jaymc, Thursday, 13 December 2007 22:51 (eighteen years ago)
Looks like a lot of people are going to have a shitty Monday trying to get to work.
― jon /via/ chi 2.0, Thursday, 13 December 2007 22:52 (eighteen years ago)
Yelp sez no:
my favorite thing about the clipper?.... there is NO TV!!!!! incredible! i find it really depressing when you go into a bar and it's a bunch of people straining their necks at a tv screen. also, as a former bartender also at a tv-less bar, the bartenders at the clipper know how to make good drinks....old timey drinks that require muddling and knowing the difference between bourbon and other whiskey. the staff are also friendly and kind and make strong drinks. me likey.
― jaymc, Thursday, 13 December 2007 22:53 (eighteen years ago)
also, as a former bartender also at a tv-less bar, the bartenders at the clipper know how to make good drinks
This dangling modifier is driving me crazy.
― jaymc, Thursday, 13 December 2007 22:55 (eighteen years ago)
haha me too
― Jordan, Thursday, 13 December 2007 22:56 (eighteen years ago)
I think it's made worse by the fact that it reads as though the bartenders at the Clipper are in fact a single bartender.
― jaymc, Thursday, 13 December 2007 22:58 (eighteen years ago)
ok. i might or might not go. i don't have the channel at my house so i was looking to go watch somewhere. fantasy football implications here.
― stingy, Thursday, 13 December 2007 22:58 (eighteen years ago)
also, as a former bartender also at a tv-less bar, i can attest that the bartenders at the clipper know how to make good drinks
fixed
― Jordan, Thursday, 13 December 2007 23:00 (eighteen years ago)
not that i am accepting the bars with tvs = worse drinks correlation.
― Jordan, Thursday, 13 December 2007 23:01 (eighteen years ago)
Internet comments are not term papers.
― dan m, Thursday, 13 December 2007 23:02 (eighteen years ago)
stingy, i would be shocked if mac's didn't have it. they have like 80 tv's in that joint. their sister bar on chicago ave has two big screens and they have nfl network.
― chicago kevin, Thursday, 13 December 2007 23:02 (eighteen years ago)
So yeh...CTA strike. May be just what the Doctor ordered?
― Jesse, Thursday, 13 December 2007 23:03 (eighteen years ago)
That reminds me, I kind of want to see Doctor Atomic. I haven't been to the Lyric Opera since high school.
― jaymc, Thursday, 13 December 2007 23:14 (eighteen years ago)
They've been playing selections from that all week on WFMT.
― Jenny, Thursday, 13 December 2007 23:18 (eighteen years ago)
Hi Jenny! I'm going home now.
― dan m, Thursday, 13 December 2007 23:18 (eighteen years ago)
i think i'm going to go make chili now
― Jordan, Thursday, 13 December 2007 23:24 (eighteen years ago)
Hilarious old-fashioned misogyny.
This one is my favorite: http://img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2007/11_04/palmoliveDM2711_468x478.jpg

picante steak burritos are soooooooooooo very good to me.
― chicago kevin, Friday, 14 December 2007 00:44 (eighteen years ago)
I want to see Doctor Atomic too because Peter Sellars is one of the best stage directors and all-around theater people on the planet. As is Peter Brook, who's bringing a show to Chicago Shakes in a month or two. Both pricey, but both bigtime events in the medium of theater.
― Eazy, Friday, 14 December 2007 03:19 (eighteen years ago)
Well, my chili is simmering. I'm concerned that it's not spicy/flavorful enough, although I certainly added a ton of cumin/paprika/pepper/hot sauce, and a couple roasted jalapenos. I did add a bit too much beer at one point. I also burned the shit out of my tongue tasting it, so that could be the problem too.
― Jordan, Friday, 14 December 2007 04:49 (eighteen years ago)
1) is it cooking on a stovetop or in a crockpot? if you let it cook long enough the beer will go away. 2) have you added any cayenne pepper? 3) what kinda beans you got in there?
i am making chili in the crockpot tomorrow evening for my class on saturday.
― La Lechera, Friday, 14 December 2007 04:54 (eighteen years ago)
1) Stovetop. I guess I do have a crockpot but I've never used it. 2) No! I'll see if I have some. 3) Black beans, also black-eyed peas.
― Jordan, Friday, 14 December 2007 05:03 (eighteen years ago)
should i leave it on the stove on low heat when i got to bed or is that stupid?
― Jordan, Friday, 14 December 2007 05:04 (eighteen years ago)
actually, upon further tasting it's pretty nice
― Jordan, Friday, 14 December 2007 05:30 (eighteen years ago)
So yeah, not the place for this at all, but I need to just get something out there. My mom flipped the hell out last night on the phone, claiming that my fiance and I are involved in some "conspiracy" with my dad (her ex-husband) to hide things from her. It was very weird, irrational, and came out of nowhere. It ended with her screaming at me and hanging up on me. Haven't talked to her since. Now we get to go to her house in 48 hours for Christmas. This will be so much fun. I'm still really freaked out about it, she was so irrational.
― jon /via/ chi 2.0, Friday, 14 December 2007 13:19 (eighteen years ago)
Dude, this is totally the place for bitching. Even if your mom is being irrational, I'd recommend calling her and in a soothing voice saying something about how it is important for you to spend time with family for the holidays, and that you're trying very hard to fit in time with her, your dad, and your fiance's parents. You are still going to see her this weekend and.. you love her very much.
Of course, that's easy for me to say because I'm not in your situation.
I have been having some rather emotional photo convos with my mom recently too. The other day she called and sounded completely fine. Then suddenly she came out with, "ACTUALLY, I am completely surrounded by negativity, but apparently I can't tell YOU about it because you'll just say I'm playing the part of a VICTIM again, so I have to keep this all to myself!!"
― KitCat, Friday, 14 December 2007 14:19 (eighteen years ago)
photo convos
I don't know what this would entail, but I meant phone conversations.
aw, sorry to hear the moms are hard to deal with at the moment, good luck calming everything down...
― colette, Friday, 14 December 2007 15:26 (eighteen years ago)
lol @ Sarah and her mom sending pictures of themselves with angry faces back and forth.
― Jordan, Friday, 14 December 2007 15:27 (eighteen years ago)
I was thinking a more noise-stylee image posting contest.
― Laurel, Friday, 14 December 2007 15:27 (eighteen years ago)
I one-upped her by using blingee.
― KitCat, Friday, 14 December 2007 15:30 (eighteen years ago)
Sarah know the score.
― Laurel, Friday, 14 December 2007 15:34 (eighteen years ago)
I want to stage a parody of this ad, with both of them in S&M gear.
