is 136 somewhere in china?
― caek, Wednesday, 22 September 2010 08:50 (fifteen years ago)
dont think houses/buildings in China have that kind of sloping roof you see on the ones in the foreground
but the shade of green you can see on some of the buildings definitely matches the construction tarps they drape over buildings under renovation. also signs of some kind of olde wall/tower on the right hand side? intriguing.
― dayo, Wednesday, 22 September 2010 08:56 (fifteen years ago)
yeah, houses in the foreground look eastern european?
― caek, Wednesday, 22 September 2010 09:10 (fifteen years ago)
Proper high mountains, vague eastern euro look, church on bluff, nakh's name ... Yerevan?
― Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 22 September 2010 09:30 (fifteen years ago)
haha no
yerevan has ararat in the background

― Chinedu "Edu" Obasi Ogbuke (nakhchivan), Wednesday, 22 September 2010 12:52 (fifteen years ago)
that's a proper high mountain
― Chinedu "Edu" Obasi Ogbuke (nakhchivan), Wednesday, 22 September 2010 12:53 (fifteen years ago)
Is it something like Sion in Switzerland? (missing the mid-city double hill though)
― StanM, Wednesday, 22 September 2010 14:35 (fifteen years ago)
136 looks Russian or ex-USSR
― Un peu d'Eire, ça fait toujours Dublin (Michael White), Wednesday, 22 September 2010 14:52 (fifteen years ago)
there is no way that city is 1) below 5,000 feet elevation 2) south of the 40th parallel, or 3) populated by more than 100,000 inhabitants
― del griffith, Wednesday, 22 September 2010 18:17 (fifteen years ago)
north of 40th parallel but yr wrong with the other two
― Chinedu "Edu" Obasi Ogbuke (nakhchivan), Wednesday, 22 September 2010 19:59 (fifteen years ago)

i really need to live somewhere surrounded by mountains at some point
― I saw him in convulsive throws I said "I'll have one of those" (sunny successor), Thursday, 23 September 2010 14:41 (fifteen years ago)
yeah i've always thought the same....or proximity to mountains at least, since having huge mountains surrounding you could be dismal in winter light / snowdrifts
― E-Mil Cioran (nakhchivan), Thursday, 23 September 2010 14:43 (fifteen years ago)
can you tell us whether this city is located in the caucasus, and if not, where it is in relation to them?
― del griffith, Thursday, 23 September 2010 16:21 (fifteen years ago)
nowhere near the caucasus
― E-Mil Cioran (nakhchivan), Thursday, 23 September 2010 17:30 (fifteen years ago)
define "near"
― del griffith, Thursday, 23 September 2010 17:34 (fifteen years ago)
'that kind of sloping roof you see on the ones in the foreground'
― E-Mil Cioran (nakhchivan), Thursday, 23 September 2010 19:18 (fifteen years ago)
They look sort of Scandinavian, as does the fact that some of the buildings are gaily coloured. Black soil = volcanic, but it's not Rekjavik and nowhere else in Iceland is big enough. Used to look different usually = destroyed in the war, so that'd be Norway. Bergen? But there's no sea in sight, which is confusing.

Somewhere Alpine/Tyrolean? Innsbruck?
― ailsa, Thursday, 23 September 2010 20:01 (fifteen years ago)
For some reason, it makes me think of Eastern Europe...like maybe Romania?
― Falkor Johnson (askance johnson), Thursday, 23 September 2010 20:03 (fifteen years ago)

― F-Unit (Ste), Sunday, 26 September 2010 10:15 (fifteen years ago)
That tall building with the clock looks a little like that one in Liverpool, but that's on the waterfront, I believe
― StanM, Sunday, 26 September 2010 10:22 (fifteen years ago)
xpost, yeah
Is that the Liver building being built? (Insert obligatory "can't tell if those cars have hubcaps" joke here.)

Liverpool indeed, it's my hometown. I liked that it was the Liver Building without the Liver Birds in place.
― krakow, Sunday, 26 September 2010 10:27 (fifteen years ago)
xp Manchester? Looks a bit like Oxford Rd to me...
― Neil S, Sunday, 26 September 2010 10:32 (fifteen years ago)
yeah i was shooting for mcr, and the refuge building
― FORTIFIED STEAMED VEGETABLE BOWL (schlump), Sunday, 26 September 2010 10:33 (fifteen years ago)

Looks like San Francisco, maybe the Marina district.
― Oh do come to the mod illuminati conclave chez (Michael White), Monday, 8 November 2010 15:46 (fifteen years ago)
how would you even begin with that photo? lampposts? the off-turquoise colour of the building suggests a lowish latitude perhaps
― Adrian Roosevelt "Adie" Mike (nakhchivan), Monday, 8 November 2010 15:47 (fifteen years ago)
the man is wearing a hat, which indicates this city is located in a place where people wear hats
― whiney trollins vs. hipsters (dayo), Monday, 8 November 2010 15:49 (fifteen years ago)
fire escapes, light, oldish, tallish buildings, driving on the right. looks like sf to me.
