Enjoyed the 'Road to Corrie' a lot. The acting was great, especially David Dawson in the lead Tony Warren role.

Yeah, I really enjoyed it as well. I had no idea how hard they had to fight for it. Of course, that could just be the BBC's current narrative.

Good cliffhanger tonight on Corrie as well. Trust Gail to go looking in the medical records with that sense of righteous moral superiority she has (even about doing something quite wrong).

Then she goes and gets sacked in public, with nary a disciplinary procedure or referral to HR, and replaced in ten seconds with Deirdre with nary a reference or CRB check.

Carla's descent into alcoholism is a belter an' all.

Why can't this just stay good for any length of time?

I had a wee sniffle. Poor Jack. Shame they had to ruin what was otherwise a decent episode with (1) bloke that plays Ashley being a really bad drunk and (2) this fucking Fishwick pish.

Nice that there wasn't a HERE'S WHAT'S ON NEXT over the credits at the end. Now can every single other TV programme take note, please!

i'm always sniffling but, really, couldn't they have put some better writers on this one? the jack and vera scene was very poor. they must have spent all the money on the vertical tracking shot through the house.

yes i also noticed that the pub looked a bit sparse. this was the first i've seen it in a month or so, it's definitely in recession from what i can see.

The pub was shot from a new angle that I'd never seen before, from right behind the door.

yes and there looked something very "set like" about it. maybe new, smaller, cameras let them get into more nooks and crannies? and allow vertical tracking shots through rooms you've never even seen before.

I believe they'd been taking some of the set apart to do the crash/aftermath/rebuilding so maybe that's allowed them to get in places that they didn't have access before?

Also they've had to revamp a lot of the sets since going HD apparently.

ah right, i imagine that's why it looks a bit different now. not that i'm watching on HD but they do jazz things up a bit when they do that.

Never mind Coronation Street, can we talk about Eastenders' Glenda turning into an uber-GILF and shagging her nephew, the ever-unnattractive Phil Mitchell, after letting Ian Beale think he was going to get his? She is fast becoming my current favourite soap character by a long way - between this and her leaving weed out for Carol Jackson to get stoned on, she is holding the show together. Not even Janine locking Ryan in a fridge, or Rosie Webster generally being amazing, is coming close.

I don't mind John Stape, I think the Colin Fishwick storyline is quite funny if stupid, I think Charlotte is solid gold and think he's great at being a gormless idiot.

I think the passing of Maggie Jones has meant they can spread the comedy bitchy lines around more cast members. Sophie is great, they had better fucking not even be thinking of splitting her and Sian up via the medium of crashing trams.
