POY BOMBX FAPPLEBERRY 2005

cousin larry bundgee (bundgee), Tuesday, 12 July 2005 02:13 (twenty years ago)

august should be a fun month.

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 12 July 2005 02:14 (twenty years ago)

I used to be a really enthusiastic almost daily burrito eater and then I got tired of them. But what's weird is that while everyone's mentioning all the innards I find flour tortillas almost revolting in a way now. Corn tortillas are great but just the thought of chewing on that pressed flour almost make me ill especially where it's all bunched up at the end. And I have almost no food intolerances.

carbon (carbon), Tuesday, 12 July 2005 02:18 (twenty years ago)

I make a breakfast burrito every weekday for breakfast (eggs, salsa, cheese and hot sauce) and then have homemade burritos about 2-3 times a week for dinner (pinto or black beans (not refried), tofutti sour cream, avocado, salsa, hot sauce and nutritional yeast. 1-3 times a month I will go out for a burrito.

h0t h0t h0rsey (Carey), Tuesday, 12 July 2005 02:59 (twenty years ago)

ok see the bunched part at the end is the one thing i like about a burrito. i love good flour tortillas.

oops (Oops), Tuesday, 12 July 2005 03:02 (twenty years ago)

Yeah I can't explain it, the tortilla used to be a really essential part of the experience. Now it's like why are you taking this really dry food and making it kind of moist but still able to bind. WTF. It just seems like an almost unnatural state for flour to be in. I feel pretty ashamed to say this because of course it's probably some western yeast hegemony I've internalized.

oops, you sure seem to be "misunderstood" a lot. Maybe you should swallow that bite of burrito, oh sorry, AUTHENTIC TACO before you start talking.

n/a (Nick A.), Tuesday, 12 July 2005 13:28 (twenty years ago)

I had a burrito last night.

n/a (Nick A.), Tuesday, 12 July 2005 13:29 (twenty years ago)

It was a spinach tortilla stuffed with American cheese, mushrooms, baked beans, tofu, kale, crispy duck, and cilantro.

n/a (Nick A.), Tuesday, 12 July 2005 13:30 (twenty years ago)

I dug those shrimp burritos that Benny's discontinued about 2 years ago, consarn them.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 12 July 2005 13:45 (twenty years ago)

One of the greatest things about burritos is how you can feed a large group of people with disparagate tastes off one "burrito bar". Set out beans, meat(s), veggies, condiments, tortillas, and let everyone tailor their burrito experience to taste.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 12 July 2005 14:01 (twenty years ago)

Allyzay knows a little German (allyzay), Tuesday, 12 July 2005 17:03 (twenty years ago)

I ate three tacos and two burrito supremes last night (Taco Bell), washed down with a large Dr Pepper.

Total calories = infinity

laurence kansas (lawrence kansas), Tuesday, 12 July 2005 17:07 (twenty years ago)

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 12 July 2005 17:21 (twenty years ago)

Allyzay knows a little German (allyzay), Tuesday, 12 July 2005 18:21 (twenty years ago)

'el burro gigante'! I haven't mastered the art of not filling the tortilla to the point of not being able to close properly.

Allyzay knows a little German (allyzay), Tuesday, 12 July 2005 18:21 (twenty years ago)

Why, because they taste like ass? HO HO HO HO HO!!!

Allyzay knows a little German (allyzay), Tuesday, 12 July 2005 18:25 (twenty years ago)

Oh no! I could have brought some SUUUUUPER NACHOS!

n/a (Nick A.), Tuesday, 12 July 2005 18:27 (twenty years ago)

Well, despite the loss of SUUUUUUPER NACHOS, it does mean more margaritas...for me!

Allyzay knows a little German (allyzay), Tuesday, 12 July 2005 18:28 (twenty years ago)

Admission time: I once lived in a CO-OP in Berkeley called, get this, CASA ZIMBABWE - the decor was very gorillas-with-credit-cards. Anyway, the person whose duty it was to cook wasn't around by 7, so I saved dinner by doing a gigantic burrito bar by myself for like 70 people. I had like 25 pounds of beef cooking and I shaped it into the USA and invited people into the kitchen.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 12 July 2005 19:28 (twenty years ago)

am NOT arguing about burritos on the internet.

Spencer, you do realize what a shocking admission that is?

I'd still rather be in Tokyo (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 12 July 2005 19:31 (twenty years ago)

haha OMG Spencer no wonder you hate the Bay Area! Did you ever go to Burning Man?

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 12 July 2005 19:31 (twenty years ago)

Dude, it was like $1100 for the whole semester! I got out of there pretty quick though.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 12 July 2005 19:33 (twenty years ago)

Haha, "Casa Z" wasn't actually that bad. I will never ever go to burning man, ever.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 12 July 2005 19:33 (twenty years ago)

I must find this Casa

I'd still rather be in Tokyo (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 12 July 2005 19:34 (twenty years ago)

I'm still trying to figure out what "gorillas with credit cards" means.

is it just me or does everyone in the Bay Area hate Burning Man now?

(Chateau Co-Op show we played w/Stratford 4 was one of my favorite shows ever. The fire dept came TWICE)

M. White (Miguelito), Tuesday, 12 July 2005 19:44 (twenty years ago)

When I was there, Cloyne was known for DMT availability (never tried it) and Chateau was known for a TB outbreak.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 12 July 2005 20:27 (twenty years ago)

Your Berkeley is so different from my Berkeley.

I've never even really been on the campus!

I'd still rather be in Tokyo (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 12 July 2005 20:30 (twenty years ago)

South/West B-Town is my turf. It's real down here!
