where is the black coffee i did not order?!

Jordan, Thursday, 13 December 2007 20:34 (eighteen years ago)

I usually offer people something to drink when they come in, and sometimes they say no to me and then turn around and make me look like a naughty boy by accepting a drink from the attorney, so it looks like I let the poor creature sit there thirsty.

YEP. WELCOME TO MY WORLD.

It was pretty cool the other day though when my boss called our tech company about email trouble and he was like, "Yes, Sarah called us a couple hours ago and we're on it!" Thank you, random tech dude.

KitCat, Thursday, 13 December 2007 20:44 (eighteen years ago)

Talking to a woman probably made his whole day!

dan m, Thursday, 13 December 2007 20:51 (eighteen years ago)

ha ha

KitCat, Thursday, 13 December 2007 20:54 (eighteen years ago)

A different tech guy was in here today and we were talking about the server and our scanner and suddenly he was like, "Bbbby the way, I understand that congratulations are in order!" And it was all very awkward. I was like, um, you mean that I got married? Back in June?

KitCat, Thursday, 13 December 2007 20:55 (eighteen years ago)

sarah, he's probably been working up to asking you out for a year, and only just found out when he went to work and said "i'm going to ask her out today!" and someone else was like "uh, she just got married, dude."

colette, Thursday, 13 December 2007 21:01 (eighteen years ago)

Speaking as something of a tech guy, and having known many a sysadmin, network technician, IT drone, etc... They're not the most skilled conversationalists.

xpost haha or that

dan m, Thursday, 13 December 2007 21:01 (eighteen years ago)

He's funny. He always comes in the office wearing a leather jacket and sunglasses.

Hey, could I transfer from the red line to the purple line at Fullerton?

KitCat, Thursday, 13 December 2007 21:02 (eighteen years ago)

You betcha. At least on weekdays until about 7 PM.

jaymc, Thursday, 13 December 2007 21:03 (eighteen years ago)

Why only 7? (not that it's a problem)

KitCat, Thursday, 13 December 2007 21:04 (eighteen years ago)

The Purple Line runs along the Red Line track from Howard to Belmont and then on the Brown Line track from Belmont to the Loop during the morning and evening commute to provide extra service. I'm guessing it's just not not necessary during other times. It runs in Evanston all the time.

jaymc, Thursday, 13 December 2007 21:07 (eighteen years ago)

yeah, what he said! express purple lines are my favorite- belmont to howard in under 15 mins, and only 10 mins after that. of course waiting for them to show up is another story.

colette, Thursday, 13 December 2007 21:13 (eighteen years ago)

How do you know which ones are express? Or are all purple lines express?

KitCat, Thursday, 13 December 2007 21:17 (eighteen years ago)

All Purple Line trains run express between Belmont and Howard.

jaymc, Thursday, 13 December 2007 21:27 (eighteen years ago)

WAAHHHOOOO

KitCat, Thursday, 13 December 2007 21:28 (eighteen years ago)

if they're south of howard, they're express. they go into the loop in morning and afternoon rush hours, otherwise it's just linden to howard (all evanston stops) and then transfer to a red line. if they go as far as belmont, then they stop everywhere a brown line does, i'm pretty sure. i think in the maps they go opposite directions around the loop, but they seemed to go the same direction (counter-clockwise) every time i've taken either recently.

colette, Thursday, 13 December 2007 21:29 (eighteen years ago)

SO I can transfer from red to purple at Fullerton. It will shoot me up to Howard. Then I can get off at Davis. TA DA. Trip planner was being a jerk.

KitCat, Thursday, 13 December 2007 21:39 (eighteen years ago)

yep, if you're going in rush hour (4:30 to 7ish). it'll stop at wellington and belmont and then express to howard, then a few more stops.

what kind of party is it? do you get all dressed up?

colette, Thursday, 13 December 2007 21:43 (eighteen years ago)

Um, not that dressed up. I'm wearing a vintage dress Nick's sister gave me for Christmas last year, which strikes me as Christmassy.

KitCat, Thursday, 13 December 2007 21:45 (eighteen years ago)

Wellington has an el stop? That's funny, by my house it's just a little one way street that my favorite bar is on.

dan m, Thursday, 13 December 2007 21:46 (eighteen years ago)

Also, I will be blurry, just like in that pic, because everyone will be buzzed.

KitCat, Thursday, 13 December 2007 21:46 (eighteen years ago)

speaking of bars, is anyone else going to be at the clipper tonight with me and gr80?

chicago kevin, Thursday, 13 December 2007 21:47 (eighteen years ago)

Not I.

Here is another pic of that dress that shows more of it, but my arm looks weird so BEWARE.

KitCat, Thursday, 13 December 2007 21:48 (eighteen years ago)

TBH, I don't really understand why Wellington has an el stop. Did someone think the four blocks between Diversey and Belmont were too much?

jaymc, Thursday, 13 December 2007 21:49 (eighteen years ago)

Nice clock!

Laurel, Thursday, 13 December 2007 21:50 (eighteen years ago)

I am glad you feel comfortable telling us that. ha ha

x Thanks!

KitCat, Thursday, 13 December 2007 21:50 (eighteen years ago)

I spent entirely too much money on that clock, but I lurve it.

KitCat, Thursday, 13 December 2007 21:51 (eighteen years ago)

very cute dress! it looks festive but not too festive.

colette, Thursday, 13 December 2007 21:52 (eighteen years ago)

That photo includes:
* vintage dress
* vintage clock
* vintage turn table
* vintage ipod dock...

KitCat, Thursday, 13 December 2007 21:52 (eighteen years ago)

I'm glad I can be frank with you guys about the CTA.

jaymc, Thursday, 13 December 2007 21:53 (eighteen years ago)

:-)

Thanks, Colette. I didn't want to embarrass Nick by showing up in something with sequins.

KitCat, Thursday, 13 December 2007 21:53 (eighteen years ago)

(not that I own anything with sequins)

KitCat, Thursday, 13 December 2007 21:53 (eighteen years ago)

I should be Clippin' right along tonight.

dan m, Thursday, 13 December 2007 21:54 (eighteen years ago)

I want to go there again someday. I've only been once a looong looong time ago.

KitCat, Thursday, 13 December 2007 21:54 (eighteen years ago)

The night we met?

jaymc, Thursday, 13 December 2007 21:54 (eighteen years ago)

yay, it's very nearly the end of the day for me, and it's "friday" as well. i like my work schedule.

colette, Thursday, 13 December 2007 21:56 (eighteen years ago)

i think i'm going to wander around evanston till the movie starts, maybe i'll run into nick doing the same thing...

colette, Thursday, 13 December 2007 21:57 (eighteen years ago)

Ms. Partner and the Assoc. have gone to get a Christmas tree. I'm all by myself ;__;

And the Dude partner is at the Children's hospital w/ a pneumonia-ey son.

Jesse, Thursday, 13 December 2007 22:01 (eighteen years ago)

chicago kevin, Thursday, 13 December 2007 22:01 (eighteen years ago)

Jesse, Thursday, 13 December 2007 22:02 (eighteen years ago)

KitCat, Thursday, 13 December 2007 22:02 (eighteen years ago)

what's weird about your arm in that photo?

La Lechera, Thursday, 13 December 2007 22:08 (eighteen years ago)

I was going to ask the same thing.

dan m, Thursday, 13 December 2007 22:09 (eighteen years ago)

I guess that the top of it looks fat?

KitCat, Thursday, 13 December 2007 22:11 (eighteen years ago)

come on now

Jordan, Thursday, 13 December 2007 22:11 (eighteen years ago)

...

Laurel, Thursday, 13 December 2007 22:12 (eighteen years ago)

seriously

La Lechera, Thursday, 13 December 2007 22:12 (eighteen years ago)

Ok! Ok! But if I weren't vegetarian, I might just take a bite out of my own upper arm. Oh, wait. I meant, if I were a self-deprecatory zombie...
